Are the bets on or off for an invite to Balmoral?
Will Meghan bake a humble pie for Catherine?
Let’s discuss……!

Her uncle was a clergyman in Florida and her other uncle was US Foreign Service Diplomat (he got her the internship in Argentina). Neither were invited to the wedding!

I suppose it's just possible they were invited and turned it down, @NewAchievement, but of course they knew her, and while her mother was there - she could hardly not be - too many family members might have meant things getting blabbed about which Meghan may have preferred to be unmentioned

Edited

At least one of the uncles is on record expressing disappointment about not being invited to the wedding .

And I wonder how '2nd father' David Foster is feeling about being markled today? A titan of the music industry, now having to make nice to poxy People magazine. Apparently it was a 'misunderstanding'.

Sometimes I wonder if HaM enjoy making well-known people who are supposed to be their friends look like twats. And these people go along with it - why? I hope we do start to see an increase in the exceptions eg Sophie Chandauka and Martha Stewart.

Does David Foster not realise that they're playing the 'old and confused' trick on him too by focusing on his being part of a 'misunderstanding'? As with Martha Stewart ('confused') and King Charles ('I don't know how long he's got left'), HaM go for the perceived weak spot of age. They couldn't with Catherine, so that was played differently and even more nastily.

Pah! “Michael, the brother of Meghan’s father Tom, said he had helped his niece get her first job at the American embassy in Argentina”

Job my ass!! Tom Bower’s Revenge says it was a five-week internship as a junior press officer, while Samantha claimed Meghan was actually attending a school programme attached to the embassy that arranged work experience. Bower also says Thomas Markle paid for the study programme.

Towards the end of her time in Argentina, she sat and failed the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT), which is an initial examination for people seeking a career in the US Foreign Service. Which she admits to in Finding Freedom! Failing the test that is.

I wonder who is making this mega-rich Titan play nice, what leverage they have, and why they are protecting HAM.

I saw the 'working as a farmhand' headline yesterday! I hear it's an excellent college, full of wealthy farming family members, so hopefully he'll blend in happily enough. The university I went to and then worked at was full of posh agrics, some with titles.

Good move from the Wessex/Edinburghs as opposed to opting for the military. I do wonder if Harry would have benefited from something like this - but maybe not. None of the agrics that I remember were doing drugs. Pints of beer, yes. Cannabis and coke, no. Absolutely no way.

It feels like a very wholesome pursuit, for a wealthy young man. (Although I'm sure it often isn't!)

Ah, I obviously missed that Mylovelygreendress - in which case revert to my 2nd option of not wanting him there in case he blurted something Meghan wished he hadn't said

So is James going to end up doing a job like Cheerful Charlie in Clarksons farm? Fair play to him. I bet his grandparents would have been proud of him.

Thanks for the new thread.

Off topic but I see James Wessex is off to Cirencester agricultural college and the DM have helpfully headlined their article “Most eligible bachelor in Britain”. He’s 18 FFS.

Poor George when he hits 18.

Oh but you know they are going to try to build him up as the interesting heartthrob, probably ever so hopeful he’ll get drunk in a posh nightclub or two and fall out of a taxi on his way home, or be linked to a selection of pretty girls of good breeding.

I do think for some press they are only covering H&M’s every move/insta post/outfit because there’s not much interesting to say about the family now. Everyone else is either elderly, middle aged settled or under 18 and they can’t get at them. (Louise was depressingly sensible and gave them nothing to work with.)

See I’m the other way on harry and the military- he thrived in the military. But the “firm” wanting him as a working royal and to be fair, it was a good short term plan. He was popular, he worked well joining William on engagements together, the public warmed to him. But longer term I think he’d have been happier as the career military man of the family. (Not sure Meghan would have been interested in a royal who wasn’t a celebrity though. )

Why is David F even bothering? He certainly doesn't need those two grifters. It's actually the other way around

NewAchievement · Yesterday 18:55

The whole David Foster and HaM relationship is very weird! He lent them the home of a “friend” for 6 weeks in 2019 on Vancouver Island.

The “friend” ended up being some Russian billionaire. H&M are as big a couple grifters as his Uncle!

Happy to be corrected but I understood that Harry left the military because he didn’t pass the necessary exams to progress and didn’t fancy a desk job ?

Won’t they have a deal that he’s protected until he graduates, like they did with William?
I know “never complain, never explain” is tried and tested but I’d have to say something (behind the scenes) if my 18 year old was touted as “the most eligible bachelor”. I’d be fuming. Since a bachelor is, by definition, an unmarried man, one would expect an 18 year old to be a bachelor but I don’t think it’s a title usually bestowed on teenagers. Isn’t it normally reserved for men of a marriageable age?

To be thriving in HM Forces as an officer in your early thirties you really need to have made the lowest of the senior officer ranks (Major in the Army's case) at the very least. I've never heard anyone suggest H was close to achieving that.

I suspect H liked the Army lifestyle he had and would have probably happily stayed on if he could have been permanently London based with time off for Polo and palace functions but rumour has it he was told in no uncertain terms by the military heiracy that such was not an option.

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 19:27

Thanks @notimagain - that had been my understanding, so good to hear it from someone more in the know.

Meghan made the ‘baby brain’ comment to Catherine, Harry made the comment about needing to make sure his dear old grandmother had the right people around her.

They like to undermine people.

And interestingly, I think I read similar about Andrew, the desk job, the navy and wanting time off?

Am I recalling correctly that you are former military @notimagain?

This is what I don’t understand, so many of them have done this, release some statement to appease the HAMS when they think they have been publicly slighted, remember the Nigeria visit when the First Lady made statement about nakedness?

During a speech to mark President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, after the Sussexes had landed back in the US, Tinubu appeared to make a sly dig at Meghan.

*Addressing crowds, Tinubu said girls and women in Nigeria “do not want to mimic and try to emulate film stars from America” with their “nakedness”.
She added: “The message here is we have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress.

“They keep forgetting that Nigeria, we are beautiful. You can see what they showcase on the stage, I said, ‘We are fashionable, we see what is going on’.
“We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed.

“So we have to do something. Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It’s not beautiful at all.

Then of course a swift denial with a full article in Page 6 of course, why do they all do this? it’s like they are frightened of them.

@FancyBiscuitsLevelyou are right. At the moment, the working royal family are too sensible to provide headlines so H and fill that void. I have a feeling James will disappoint! Btw he’s the same age as my
dd and when I saw the headlines today, I kicked myself! I should have guided her towards agriculture instead of politics! He’s a very handsome young man.

Yes I'm ex Forces but ex-light blue, so I'm relying a bit on what I've heard from generic ex-forces conversations etc, I'm not privy to anything special.

As far as AMW goes I think despite him being a nasty bit of work rumour has it he was at least capable of holding down a Senior Officer job when he actually was at work.

This has been done to death on this forum.

He couldn't pursue a career in the army because he couldn't progress up the ranks, because he couldn't pass the exams.

Yes, it has happened regularly.

The wheelchair user leaned on to deny that she minded MM moving her like furniture I can understand them thinkingnit isn't worth the fuss, just say what you've been asked to and move on.

But the rich Titans and the politicians? Who is leaning on them? Is the same "who" leaning on the DHO about H's visa files?

He did get a leaving-the-army gift, though.

His gan-gan knighted him. Seriously. He was made a Knight. And he has the nerve to wear that cross round his neck in the UK in church and for formal occasions, while actual veterans with disabilities are looked after by charities while he grifts Invictus.

Yes. Absolutely.

What an investigation this would be.
