If true, this will be why MM had to issue a "oh no I didn't say anything, Martha Stewart is making shit up" denial. It would jeopardize her invitation to Balmoral.

Or at least that's what the Mirror or whoever is briefing against the Sussex's would have on believe.

Meg's message to Catherine. You will never win. You can't keep us out! I don't think these leaks will help HAM's case at all

I find the concept of it being Meghans revenge against Catherine bewildering!! , one is not a royal and married to the 5 in line who will only get further and further down as time goes on ….the other is going to be the Queen! , Meghan thinks Catherine can’t keep her away? , oh I think the future king and queen can do just that if they choose to!

Honestly that Express article is bonkers. C is a huge asset to the RF and, as the mother of the heir and two spares, a very important member of the family. There’s simply no contest.

Ah but in M’s mind she should be number 1 !! Remember Harry saying that the RF didn’t like that Meghan did the job better than the Royals 🤦‍♀️

And that is yet another comment that has aged like soured milk! , particularly with the constant proof that she clearly can’t in fact do anything correctly!

DaisyDooley · Today 16:01

I think -with regards to the William/Harry/Eton discussion -that you are forgetting some things.
Harry had been at prep school as a boarder since he was 8.
He hadn’t lived with either parent full time since he was 8.
Boarding school often provides a huge amount of stability to children, especially ones who come from unstable homes.
William wouldn’t have been expected to look after Harry or parent him at all - he wouldn’t have been in the same classes as him, or slept near him. But he would have been available at certain times if Harry needed to talk to him- in the same way if they lived at home & attended day school.
Im sure at the time there were lots of discussions with many people over decisions made about Harry. Charles didn’t have Diana to give her opinion any more - but we know she had wanted Harry to go to Eton. I think that will have been a major factor in his decision.
William was already there. If Charles Spencer, or Sarah & Jane Spencer had any input then I’m not sure theywould have advocated for Eton. We now know Charles Spencer didn’t have a good time there and although his son Louis was put down at birth for Eton he attended a day school (as did his three sisters) in SA.
Tom Parker Bowles went to Eton and had a great time there.
I think it’s quite nasty to say The King sent Harry to Eton because he was too busy ‘rehabilitating Camilla’. Their wedding was 7 years away and there was zero expectation at that point that he would remarry. There’s no evidence whatsoever that all the Kings time was taken up with that.
Im sure Harry wasn’t one of the brightest bulbs in the chandelier but he was attending one of the best schools in England and if he had had any interest in his education he could have done better. One would think that a ‘Prince of England’ would have a bit of drive to succeed and not look stupid.
However, I think he was probably the class clown and rather embarrassing.

Oh I think that Meg’s message to Catherine is just some pundit’s spin, drumming up interest. The point is that there’s enough swirling out there for the bottom line to be credible: Meghan was shut out from the inner sanctum of Balmoral at the time of QE2’s passing, and she’s thrilled that she might finally be allowed in. That is what she doesn’t want to jeopardize, that’s what the Martha Stewart clap back was for. The Catherine bit is made up rubbish, it doesn’t make any sense.

I mean, I’m not a fan, but that article isn’t actually suggesting that Meghan ever said those words, much less sent that message to Catherine, is it? Surely it’s just click bait?

Meg's message to Catherine. You will never win. You can't keep us out! I don't think these leaks will help HAM's case at all

It doesn't even make sense. Harry and Meghan have never been barred from family events like Christmas or Balmoral. They left as working royals not family members. Their subsequent conduct would probably affect how they were received, whether they went at the same time as the other cousins for example, but there had never been any indication that the late Queen, or Charles, banned them.

I doubt it's true though.

On the Martha Stewart quote, when will they learn to just ignore stuff like that? It's their reactions that make a story and give credibility to rumours that would probably otherwise pass without much comment. It's the very fact that Meghan has responded that makes me think this one might be true. But even if it is, talking about your holiday at a dinner party wasn't what the palace meant about it being private.

The whole thing is really stupid, for some reason they seem to be trying to create a narrative that unreasonably Charles banned them from taking photos or mentioning the holiday to their friends. Instead of what he seems to have done, asked that they don't talk about the visit in the press.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory again

Starryfifty · Today 16:06

Are they actually invited to balmoral though ??

Oh my god Lunde really?? Wow 😮

They had been separate for six years by that point.

It would be different if they were married when she died but they weren't.

I think a lot of parents would consider keeping the children together a good idea.

APlateOfMixedFanciesAndANicePotOfTea · Today 16:20

Lunde · Today 12:11

Wasn't Harry originally meant to go to a different school because he failed the Eton entrance exams so badly? (IIRC he was meant to go to Radley). But Charles changed his mind after Diana's death as it suited Charles' purposes to have them at the same school so that he could focus on rehabilitating Camilla's image (they appeared in public together less than 18 months after Diana's death).

But he thereby lumbered the then 16 year old William with the responsibility of "looking after" the increasingly troubled 14 year old Harry. Eton caved to the public (and royal pressure) to keep "the young princes" together.

Apparently Diana was keen that Harry joined William at Eton, it was close to Windsor and family, her family had gone there, and she wanted to buck the Gordonstoun 'trend' for royal family members. Both Charles and Diana agreed on Eton.

bluegreygreen · Today 16:35

ajandjjmum · Today 13:07

I do think that there was a genuine case for thinking that Harry would be better off being close to home, and at school with his brother. No-one would necessarily have known that he would struggle so much with the academics - thinking here of DS who suddenly switched on at 13, having been a very middling student beforehand!

I also think it's pretty cynical to align the choice of school with Camilla's rehabilitation - I really can't think that a father would have put anything above the wellbeing of his young son, who has just lost his mother. Maybe I'm just being naive!

I think the decision was reasonable.

Harry had an extra year at his prep school after his mother's death, surrounded by people he knew.

He then passed the entrance exam, and was apparently himself keen to go to Eton.

https://archive.is/63mls

I think the main issue was the responsibility it placed on William, but unfortunately that pattern was already long established.

I've never really bought into the "they're desperate" story (partly because it's beyond me how they could have burnt through so much money so quickly. ) However , this makes me not so sure.

If they are doing it for private reconciliation , apologise privately , don't leak it. And leaking that you're thinking of making an apology - well ...

Note - I use the word apology in this context as shorthand for " insincere performative self-serving cynical non-apology. "

I say - Cry "Harry" and let slip the MIGS of Charles.

... That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion, uh... "lies"?, groaning for burial

‘Nothing new here’ ,

BillyBites · Today 17:27

That Express article is a complete load of bollocks.
There is no way on this earth that William and Catherine would agree to be at Balmoral at the same time as Harry & Meghan. And Meghan allegedly viewing it as a victory of some sort is soooo wide of the mark as to be laughable. If anything, it would be viewed as them returning with their tails between their legs.
But it won’t happen. I’ll bet the farm on it.

Fair enough Recollections I have have to bow down to everyone's superior knowledge around here, I've only been around since the recent (well last few years) of shenanigans 😊

wordler · Today 18:09

This little flurry of articles goes to the heart of the problem H&M have with their PR/brand/image/credibility.

They are on record saying and doing some bonkers things with their own words in interviews and media. And they are on record briefing reporters and friends who leak to the press on their behalf.

This makes any of these ‘clapback’ speculative articles plausible.

It’s now practically impossible to work out if it’s a click bait article in entirety with some Royal ‘expert’ speculating. Or whether it’s a Sussex spokesperson doing a deliberate leak. Or whether it’s a friend of the couple doing something they think is helpful defending their friends.

If someone wrote an article saying a friend of Kate has spoken out to say Kate thinks xyz about Meghan it wouldn’t get any traction at all because in the over 20 years Kate has been in the public eye she’s never used a friend to brief the press and apart from the cancer reveal video she’s never come out and tried to influence the press’s opinions of her.

Ah the confused old lady defence!! , almost as charming as the hormonal baby brain defence!
she’s a real peach!

She’s a really nasty piece of work, never fails to reveal her true nasty colours, she really has a problem with women doesn’t she? then again Meghan has a problem with everyone……..🤔

If they were normal, we would assume they had congratulated Eugénie and Jack, privately. But because they only ever announce things publicly, we assume they haven't been in touch.
I was amazed MM had gone to a dinner party. I just thought they sat at home like Billy Nomates. Although going to a party with 85 year olds present, unless with old family friends, suggest it wasn't a close friends event.

I remember it very well, @Mylovelygreendress, and at least this time he really did say it, but that doesn't mean there's any truth in this "message to Kate"

Frankly some media are getting a bit silly with this clickbait; it's article after article, and little of it anything but "sources"
