I think I can vaguely see the kids looking at a device that looks like a photo frame with buttons, and the image inside is Meg and Archie’s head?

Is it a ‘reconstruction posed by models’? Of what, though??

Baffling. As ever.

@AnAutumnCrow Google image search result (of tech only)

This device appears to be a Sound Devices PIX 240 video recorder, often used by camera crews to monitor and record footage.
The screen currently displays a scene featuring a person in what appears to be a "GB Soccer School" top.
The recorder features physical buttons labeled A, B, and C on the left side of the display for navigation or control.
It is designed with a robust industrial style, sometimes utilized for high-quality instrument analysis or professional video production.

The top photo is exactly the reason why I don't believe in the 'frequent video-calls with the King'.

I didn't believe it in the first place, bluegreygreen, but you're quite right; were they video calling Charles the image would have included him for a certainty

BasiliskStare · 18/07/2026 19:33

I think that recorder thing was when M was filming WLM - I think she showed that shot of them watching mummy filming.

That Express article - he just can't help himself can he? His security has been sorted out - just not in the way he wanted it to be. Daft as a brush.

GoddammitPrincess · 18/07/2026 18:33

@lundethat is really interesting and makes a LOT more sense as to why he was nominated.

May I ask where you got that info, not that I don’t believe you, but would be interested in reading more.

There were several posters back over the past 4 years or so across many of the awards that HAM have accepted who had knowledge or had worked in this type of environment and explained how it worked. One had direct experience of a charity "Man of the Year" type award that was contingent on a minimum $10,000 donation to the charity.

They are popular to raise funds and provide those who receive the awards visibility, branding as well as networking opportunities at ceremonies and conferences etc that connect recipients to clients, investors, or partners (and A-listers). I believe Lauren Sanchez - or now Mrs Bezos - was also given the Living Legend award at the same time as Harry 😉

I got this courtesy of AI
....................................................
Pay-to-play charity awards in the US operate as strategic fundraising vehicles rather than traditional merit-based competitions. Organizers leverage the human desire for recognition to sell expensive honoree packages, corporate sponsorships, and gala tables. Because honorees are expected to financially back the organization, the "winner" is often selected based on their willingness or capacity to raise funds.

The "Pay-to-Play" Structure

  • The Pitch: Organizations or media companies contact potential honorees, offering prestigious-sounding titles (e.g., "Top 40 Under 40", "Industry Leader of the Year"). (Living Legend of Aviation 😂)
  • The Catch: To formally accept the award and attend the gala, honorees are heavily pressured to purchase a "profile package" in an affiliated publication, sponsor a category, or buy entire VIP tables.
  • The Loop: Today's paying honorees often become tomorrow's award judges, creating a closed-loop system that sustains the fundraising cycle
DaisyDooley · 18/07/2026 19:41

I still snigger when I think of him having the cheek to accept a ‘legend of aviation’ award,
He can’t fly a plane and he didn’t do the necessary tests/work/flying hours needed to get a pilots licence like his grandfather/father/brother/uncle/aunt.
I mean, even Fergie was more qualified!!
He has never flown outside of military service. He isn’t qualified.
Gary Newman is more of an aviator than H.
I didn’t know he had been put on a table at the back with all of the other single seaters. That also made me snigger.

The children were awestruck when they met KC and QC. Very odd reaction considering they FaceTime all the time 🤔🤔

HAM are really pushing the get back in

It’s just lending one’s name to increase awareness of an organization and to help sell seats at a charitable event.

It seems like Harry didn’t grasp that, though.

Starryfifty · 18/07/2026 20:25

It's very obvious they want a walkabout as the Wales do with their children. Photos with KC etc.

HungryHippu · 18/07/2026 20:32

I can just hear William saying to Charles 'I told you this would happen! Why on earth did you do it?'

The top photo is exactly the reason why I don't believe in the 'frequent video-calls with the King'.

I remember a story from a while back where KC3 FaceTimed A&L dor his 75th (?) birthday - it was a private personal family call but PH blabbed about it publicly and KC3 was incensed because it was a personal moment and he saw PH using it directly and immediately for royal adjacency to line his own pockets.

So I do believe KC3 had FT with his DGC - even then close to OW, NF and Spare - so he could see the children were innocent in this etc - but PH blew it then - so not sure if it has happened since - but as someone earlier on the thread said FT would be high risk from a security perspective as could well be someone else in the room KC3 couldn’t see and / or easily recorded. Also prior to recent visit only palace source mentioned ‘bitterness’ (from PH) and ‘trust’ (needed to be rebuilt/proven for the RF to move further to building bridges).

PH can’t be trusted. I doubt he knew that they would be seeing KC3 (for about an hour) until the very last minute. It was ALL done on KC3 terms. H&M got very little from their wish list to monetise. But I do believe they are broke and might well come to the UK for a few years and educate the DCs - but I don’t believe KC3 will give PH / H&M a HIHO role. I believe he will put a roof over their heads but is not stupid enough to let them loose on the already flaky RF reputation given the recent and still unresolved AMW situation.

bluegreygreen · 18/07/2026 20:41

Russell Myers' article archived https://archive.is/2JKhc

My favourite line:

Following a massive internal security operation, Meghan and the children flew in from Europe to the Midlands after earlier pulling the plug on a planned trip to London over fears for their safety.

Edit to add - they are trying to be careful but over several articles you can see that each one releases a tiny bit more information than the previous ones. In this case the new information is:

One source described the meeting as “emotional” and both the King and Harry hoped to arrange a further gathering in the future.

PullTheBricksDown · 18/07/2026 20:52

OK so the Mirror article says Harry will continue the battle for security, but the Express one says that's over and his fists are down (ie lowered)? What an interesting contradiction. Did the Mirror talk to Harry and the Express to Meghan?

I'd say they are broke. I was listening to Paula froelich earlier. She has heard that Ingriftus will be wound down after Birmingham. Even giving them all a Royal residence in the UK a terrible idea.

There was a line in the (ludicrous) DM article that they have a house in Portugal so the dcs ‘will be close to the royal side if they want to participate’. It’s not remotely an option!

The Portugal thing is very intriguing.

Two articles three years apart quote the same number of villas sold (71)

supercasa.pt/en-gb/noticias/setubal-costa-terra-has-71-villas-sold-for-288-million-euros/n441

https://www.idealista.pt/en/news/luxury-real-estate-in-portugal/2024/11/01/66309-exploring-costaterra-a-premier-destination-for-luxury-real-estate-in

The website has pictures of a spa bed situated in what looks like hastily cleared scrubland and a dining table situated in an entirely uncleared area which looks like a bug hotel.

I think Captain Tequila must really be earning his commission if he's genuinely still finding marks and Harold is a mug if he's bought.

he hated life in the RF (apparently) why does he want it for his children? They are full of contradictory nonsense

Still looks like a bloke haunted by the prospect of a fifth of his reputed fortune disappearing up a victorious dragon's arse and that's before we get on the annual expenses he's saddled himself with.

I think PH lives hour by hour. Never thinks of what's ahead. He'll assume bank of Pa will pay and I think he will unfortunately. Elton has basically told him to F off.

I just checked out the website and agree. I also don’t find much about it online. The golf course seems to have no ratings beyond promo articles. Maybe that normal for places target HNW individuals.

Overall it looked like an expensive place that looks nice in photos but isn’t great once you get there.
