Hello I thought I'd start a thread where we can build up the excitement for tomorrow 😂

I'm enjoying the English Country/ family vibe I'm getting from the setting and wedding prep.

I'm looking forward to seeing Harriet's dress, she's a very attractive women, but the flowers are always of special interst to me.

Who do we think will be bridesmaids? Peters P's and Harriet's daughters presumably? Zara's kids?

I read that Philip and Zara have a half sister who will be attending, I didn't kow about her!

I also read that Peters first wedding to Autumn was sold to Hello and criticised for this. Very tacky. It looks like he's learned and is not cashing in this time, so hopefully we'll get a good look at evryone.

You have to remember that divorcees marrying was still very new in 2005 - the General Synod only approved it in 2002 so the church was still feeling its way.

Traditionally the heir hadn't been allowed to marry a divorcee at all - the whole Edward and Wallis abdication was probably in the Queen's mind. There were questions about whether divorced Charles should be allowed to remarry at all. There were rumours flying about the European Court of Human Rights although the government did concede he had the right to marry under the Human Rights Act 1998.

Plus there were additional complications of Camilla's ex still being alive and the vitriolic "Saint Diana" movement was still very strong.

To be fair, Debenhams 1995 was the dream for me at that point 😆

Are 'fascinators' still a thing? They're often good for a bit of unintended hilarity

Personally I think all the brides pictured here look radiant! , and that is all that matters.

The twigs, feathers and protuberances styles seem to be ‘out’, and the ‘mounds of cloth sitting on a headband’ style would appear to be ‘in’.

Who on earth would wear a suit for their wedding? It would have been awful.i didn’t love the dress but I can’t think of much I would want to wear less to my own wedding than a suit. There are loads of fabulous dresses out there for older brides

Camilla looked beautiful when she married the then POW. The outfit she wore to her church blessing was perfect.

I wish Catherine would wear something less frumpy than those massive long skirts with metres of fabric. Something sleek but closer to the knee, maybe?
She has a fabulous figure for clothes, and gorgeous legs. I know the future queen has to be a bit
more modest and dignified, but honestly it’s such a boring look.

You don't have an automatic right to be married in the Church of England as a divorced person with a spouse still living. However, the Church recognises that some marriages end for good reason and will ask the given couple questions. It's decided on a case-by-case basis. And of course, the rules are always bent for the rich and famous, anyway. With Charles, it was a bit hairy because officially, the Church of England frowns on divorce and doesn't let anyone and everyone who's divorced marry in church, and Charles was the future head of the Church and Defender of the Faith.

Markle is a good example of someone who wouldn't normally have had a second crack at it in a church. She was only married for two years before she brutally dumped her husband by sending her rings back, and had no good reason to end her marriage except that she got too big for her boots once she was on Suits. She thought she could do better than Trevor.

At church weddings where both are divorced, like today, there's the part about being married under the eyes of God and what he has joined together let no man put asunder. I like to imagine God rolling his eyes and going "Wait. Haven't we done this before? My magical bond glue didn't work the first time, did it?Absolute piss-takers!" [wanders off muttering about going to B&Q to find some stronger stuff] 🤣

for goodness sake OP, not everyone wants kids at weddings you know!

and your point about modelling ‘family values’ etc… well some of these kids may well grow up to not ‘settle down’ and have different dreams and aspirations etc

Kate plays it safe every time she does look lovely though. Unlike Diana who used to mix up safe and quirky. Kate never does that it’s either the same style of long dress with massive heels she must be so tall and imposing or Benetton mums look in jeans and sweaters. Wasn’t that keen on bride’s dress tbh and as for the York daughters all the gear and no idea !

victoria Lockwood had anorexia hence why that dress simply hung off her tiny frame and yes it was a hideous dress

Slightly surprised and disappointed that the look was blushing, first-time bride. Neckline on the dress was not flattering, too much lace, but if that is what she/they wanted my opinion is of no significance.
In contrast to other posters, I thought the Princesses were fine and appropriately dressed, although I think Princess Beatrice should have chosen a dark green for her accessories. Navy blue is always good.
I did love that the Princess Royal stuck to her "clean and tidy" mantra.
Refreshing to note that there were no fake tans, trout pouts, visible tattoos or overly exposed body parts!

Anne got married the second time in Scotland because of the C of E rule too. It doesn’t seem to be a rule that can be bent when it suits.

Perhaps B and E can’t afford stylists anymore now their parents aren’t bankrolling them so they have returned to their previous frumpy style.

When my cousin got remarried the vicar at our local church said he was fine with it as long as the marriage hadn't broken up because of her new husband (it hadn't).
Another vicar of a church at the other end of town is known to refuse to marry any divorced people.

Camilla always dresses so elegantly and well since her marriage. I loved her wedding dress.
