Hello I thought I'd start a thread where we can build up the excitement for tomorrow 😂

I'm enjoying the English Country/ family vibe I'm getting from the setting and wedding prep.

Fox Gloves in the flowers 💕

I'm looking forward to seeing Harriet's dress, she's a very attractive women, but the flowers are always of special interst to me.

Who do we think will be bridesmaids? Peters P's and Harriet's daughters presumably? Zara's kids?

I read that Philip and Zara have a half sister who will be attending, I didn't kow about her!

I also read that Peters first wedding to Autumn was sold to Hello and criticised for this. Very tacky. It looks like he's learned and is not cashing in this time, so hopefully we'll get a good look at evryone.

Ageism is also an issue!

You cant deny age has a role in this. The way media and men talk about woman's bodies now, is very different than what was tolerated before. Look up Daily Mail in the 2000s and Rob Kenyon.

They're both divorced and in their forties after long marriages and have families with their first spouses. Seems a bit silly to have a big white wedding, as if they're a young couple in love embarking on building a lifelong marriage and family together. Muttons trying to be lambs! 🤣 I'd have expected them to have a wedding more like Charles and Camilla's.

What, where Camilla was mid-50s and wearing something my gran wouldn’t have looked twice at in her 80s?!

DaisyDooley · Today 17:57

I thought Camilla and Catherine looked spot on.
Not OTT or attention seeking. Just utterly appropriate.

The bride…….im really disappointed with her dress. Thought it was inappropriate for a divorcee marrying a divorced man in church.
She’s 46 - it would have been much nicer IMO if she had worn something more suited to her age, and for a country wedding. How nice if she had used this opportunity to wear something age appropriate. She’s got a lovely figure and could really have done something different for middle aged women rather than full wedding white with a veil 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Didnt like her posy -neither nowt nor summat.

Im wondering if Princess Anne agrees with me &didn’t want to loan her a tiara because of that?

Anne looked great but made me laugh with the trusty black shoes and bag. I certainly wouldn’t be the one to tell her to loose the black leather accessories!

l liked Sophie’s outfit -very her. I wonder if she had a moment like a 5year old would “But this is my new favourite handbag and I’m TAKING IT”.

Didn’t like what David Snowdens girlfriend was wearing -thought she looked like a thin sumo.
Loved Mia Tindall outfit & Margarita A-J.

Do you? I think she looks like she's on her way to be nailed to the cross! 🤣🤣🤣

I really dont understand whats funny. Older women are funny?

I think Beatrice's dress is the most divisive of the day! I'm on the side of thinking it's awful!

I agree, and think her husband’s outfit looks a complete mess. It looks like he’s wearing a green tie and yellow waistcoat to match Beatrice’s hat and dress, but it looks awful with his blue shirt, pale grey trousers and black jacket.

Sorry now, but who is wearing the bright yellow short lace dress that looks like an egg.

Hideous!

What would your gran hve worn? Full length white and a veil? In her 80s?

Camilla’s wedding outfit was amazing as this thread and the vast majority of people thought at the time. The Philip Treacy headdress was stunning.
It was totally appropriate to their status ,ages and future roles.

ajandjjmum · Today 18:04

For those who asked, I am sure I saw the Bride's Mum get out of a car with the bridesmaids - she was wearing a pale blue dress and jacket, very understated. She seemed to be holding back. I felt for her - a massive day and sadly without her DH who died several years ago.

Camilla's wedding outfits were the best. Really impressed at how she got it so right for both the ceremony and blessing. IMO obviously! Grin

Eh? Camilla looked completely fab and she-appropriate in her wedding outfit at St George’s. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say otherwise.

Harriet could’ve done something similarly knock-out. Not sure what she was thinking with the full-on young bride look.

I seem to remember that she had two outfits. They were both gorgeous. I think she wore a cream knee-length one for the registry office and the long dusty-aqua one for the church blessing. The latter was really beautiful. The only thing I'd have changed would have been for her to have a bouquet that was a little larger and a teardrop shape, including some trailing greenery. She had a little posy and it looked a bit juvenile for the outfit, imo. But apart from that small details, she looked just like a future Queen and so tasteful. And not trying to have a young person's first wedding all over again.

I don't think Markle should have had a big white wedding, either.

Sorry, but no. Casual misogyny is not cute or funny. By pretending you're just having good fun, you're perpetrating this kind of crap for the generations after you. I'm not sure why you're okay with being called mutton when you've just put on a nice dress- but I sure am not okay with it.

Its women that have internalised this crap that perpetrate this.

Not to mention if you have children, you're teaching them what woman are allowed to tolerate.

"Anne looks abysmal" I can't agree with this. I think she looks very , well, Anne. I would not have chosen that outfit myself for many reasons and she probably could afford a new hat 😂, but the big smile on her face goes a long way. And she does look "cheerful".

I could imagine if Anne had turned up in a newly minted Anna Valentine dress with matching coat , spanking new Philip Treacy hat and co-ordinating Christian Laboutin skyscraper heels, Peter might have looked at her and thought "who are you , and what have you done with my mother?" 😂(But I have a vivd imagination. )

Not sure if it would have been appropriate for a church wedding, but imagine if she'd gone for something along these lines? I'll admit I just wanted any excuse to post this photo of the coolest and chicest bride I've seen in ages!

Oh nooo, I don't agree with you there! She looks like a guest, not a bride! There's a middle ground between swathing your old arse in delicate lace like a young bride and looking like you might be interviewing at a Premier Inn!

Camilla got it right at her wedding!

Edit: The hem of the jacket makes a strong line right across her widest part...🙈 I often notice this with untucked tops, too. Doesn't matter how slim you are, having a visual thick line across your widest part is not flattering on anyone.

It's still ongoing! We'll have seen several dresses by the time the week is out!

Seems to be the fashion for 'sponsored' celebrity weddings these days.

hourspassed · Today 18:14

I struggle with 'older' ladies in a full-on 'wedding dress with veil' vibe. I say that as a late 50s woman and I wore a silvery long cocktail dress for my second wedding. I just think they don't suit an older complexion, just looks a bit wrong to me. I've seen it so many times in friends too, it's just a big no from me. There are so many elegant and beautiful dresses for older women to wear to get married in. I don't dislike her dress but just not on a 40 something divorcee. But that's just me - she would probably have hated my wedding dress to be fair!

MrsLeonFarrell · Today 18:14

They all look comfortable in their outfits and happy to be there. I love that so many are rewears too.

I do agree with the comment that the colours might have looked better in sunshine. I also wonder what the bride's dress would look like if the ground has been dry and they could let the veil and train drift in the ground

Objection noted! , apart from one comment about Catherine being painfully thin ( not slim but thin as the poster wished to labour!) , i haven’t seen anything else that is objectionable! , people have differing opinions about clothing 🤷‍♀️ , i personally feel that any age women is entitled to wear a white wedding dress if she chooses, however I’m aware others feel differently!
both you and the other poster are now completely steering this thread away from what it’s about , to keep it on track….I like the brides dress , she looks very similar to the picture of my mother on her wedding day .
