Hello I thought I'd start a thread where we can build up the excitement for tomorrow 😂

I'm enjoying the English Country/ family vibe I'm getting from the setting and wedding prep.

Fox Gloves in the flowers 💕

I'm looking forward to seeing Harriet's dress, she's a very attractive women, but the flowers are always of special interst to me.

Who do we think will be bridesmaids? Peters P's and Harriet's daughters presumably? Zara's kids?

I read that Philip and Zara have a half sister who will be attending, I didn't kow about her!

I also read that Peters first wedding to Autumn was sold to Hello and criticised for this. Very tacky. It looks like he's learned and is not cashing in this time, so hopefully we'll get a good look at evryone.

Were Kate and Camilla wearing a very similar colour? Almost like a competition although Kate will always win IMO

No - Catherine in a neutral/pink, the Queen in pale yellow.

I really like Kate’s hat

Not the poster you asked, but for me it’s a great silhouette on her, because she’s so slim that the heavy material and pleats are seen to their best advantage. It’s a very chic style for the weather - heavy enough not to be chilly but with short sleeves and a faint ‘safari’ vibe that make it summery.

I think it’s a very stylish dress, and I’m not a Roland Mouret fan, and also often think Kate dresses too old/slighty frumpy (tends to look her best in evening wear).

It also works well with her slim ankles and spindly stilettos, which give the weight of the dress a bit of upward lift and lightness.

This sums it up well

Mapelli Mozzi looks like he's had hair highlights done 😳

Very likely.

I still cringe at that photo of him in a flamingo pink suit in Florida a few months ago. If I didn't know better, I'd assume he bats for the other team.

Her family are in Debretts peerage….

If you assume that being in Debrett makes you rich, or not in need of a 'normal' job I have a tumbledown house and an ancient car to show you! My DDs were privately educated with a combination of bursaries, scholarships, obliging grandparents, second hand uniform and absolutely no holidays ever.

In some families you can only wear a tiara if your family have one, and you are the daughter of the house. Not the one marrying into the family.
Meghan, Catherine and Sophie were exceptions to this.

Princess Anne lent Autumn Kelly a lovely tiara when she married Peter. That's why it seemed odd that she didn't lend Harriet one of her other ones.

If that were me, I think I'd have gone for a floral headpiece instead being reduced to borrowing one from a shop, when your MIL has a few of her own. Makes it look as if Harriet really wanted to wear a tiara but MIL wouldn't lend her one because she disapproves of the marriage. It's pretty bad form for Anne to lend Autumn one but not Harriet. (Not the same one, obviously.)

Maybe a 50/ 50 kinda guy?

Muttons trying to be lambs!

You again.

@Firesidechatter at first I was thinking you’re wrong, they’re all broadly supportive comments. Then this gem turned up.

Oh, dear. Stop trying to control others, and you won't be so upset.

And being a 46-year-old divorced mum and then swathing yourself in lace for a white church wedding is the ultimate mutton-move. Soz, lamb.

Ah, they look similar in colour on the pics here. Did think it would be odd.

I read that she borrowed it from the jeweller who made her engagement ring - so perhaps it was the style she wanted.

Some have said they like Kate's hat, and it's not bad, but I think it looks odd the way it's perched on top of her head. The crown should have been a bit deeper. It's giving flying saucer.

A man wearing pink must ‘ bat for the other team?’

It just keeps getting worse

I know the photo she means, and tbf, he did look extremely pretty. 🤣 I thought the same thing as that PP.

Poor Eugenie, she must have been thrilled at a wedding when she’s so pregnant. Although I bet she’s pleased it’s a cool day. Her shoes don’t look very comfortable.

There is such a thing as social capital though Andouillette and who you know!

Please note that I am not commenting on your situation specifically but it certainly does apply to some.

For example, I know two sons from fairly impoverished families in Debretts who have each managed to get good positions in merchant banks thanks to coming from “the right line of people” which seems outrageous in 2026 but there you have it! I’ve no doubt they will have to prove themselves and work hard to stay and justify their positions but their family names definitely opened doors for them initially.

I love Kate's dress.

Not sure about the bride. I was expecting a a less obviously bridal dress but it is a pretty dress.

The bridesmaids's dresses remind me of India Hicks's wedding dress by the same designer,

NameChangeMay2026 · Today 17:48

I'm enjoying all the faux-outrage at any comment that isn't a fawn. Some people can't bear not being able to control others. Maybe a discussion forum that's run on the principles of free speech isn't the right place for people who don't like it when others express themselves. 🤔

How do you know that it wasn't down to their educations and work such as interning etc. though?

Not sure if this has been shared as am a bit behind the thread. The flowers in the church, absolutely gorgeous.

I agree. I don't understand why women think judgemental comments about another woman's bra fitting poorly or a dress 'not doing them any favours' are acceptable.

You would never say something like that at a professional networking event. It all the 2000s daily mail and magazine cover pages and the internalised misogyny still lingering in Zillennials and Boomers. I'm not sure how they dont see it—perhaps they find it cathartic so dont want to?

Regardless, I'm glad to see this kind of attitude dying out in younger generations.

You can talk about fashion without being nasty. I'm confused why so many think it's not possible?

Ageism is also an issue!

It's not about control. Its about shock at how backwards some woman are. It indicated lots of internalised self hate tbh. Calling a woman mutton dressed as lamb as a woman is just sad.

This sums it up well

A very interesting summary indeed.

I still think three inches off the length would sort out the exaggerated visual imbalance between the top and bottom halves of the outfit, but I often think that about those almost-ankle-length skirts.

Clearly, Mumsnetters need to get together and be Kate's dressmakers! 🤣

Most skirts these days seem to be very short or very long. Whatever happened to an inch or two below the knee? After all, most women aren't that tall and are drowned in long skirts.

But if the wool fits...🤣🤣🤣

Some people take everything so seriously! Lighten up!
