Hello I thought I'd start a thread where we can build up the excitement for tomorrow 😂

I'm enjoying the English Country/ family vibe I'm getting from the setting and wedding prep.

Fox Gloves in the flowers 💕

I'm looking forward to seeing Harriet's dress, she's a very attractive women, but the flowers are always of special interst to me.

Who do we think will be bridesmaids? Peters P's and Harriet's daughters presumably? Zara's kids?

I read that Philip and Zara have a half sister who will be attending, I didn't kow about her!

I also read that Peters first wedding to Autumn was sold to Hello and criticised for this. Very tacky. It looks like he's learned and is not cashing in this time, so hopefully we'll get a good look at evryone.

I don't agree as I think she looks gorgeous, but that doesn't mean I didn't laugh out loud at your comment!

Keep 'em coming!

She does look gorgeous, I just think a differently cut hemline on the jacket would have softened up the harsh straight-across line that hits at an unflattering place. Just having the lower inner corners slightly angled/cutaway would have done it.

Someone said she's also having a "proper" wedding. 🙈 I hope she resists the temptation to mutton it up! 🤣

Love lady Margarita’s head piece

Omg that’s the one in a super frumpy and wrinkled ill fitting outfit

Harriet is quite a stylish woman generally, so I was expecting to be impressed by her bridal look. However so many people’s sense of style seems to desert them on their wedding day! I can’t work out how a dress could make a woman that slim actually look broad, but it succeeded. The shape doesn’t work and don’t get me started on the veil.
It’s really not a good advert for Emilia Wickstead! The bride and I are exactly the same age so there is no ageism here.

The bridemaids’ dresses are lovely on the other hand, and I actually think a more interesting and sophisticated version of that dress could have looked lovely on the bride. It’s such a chic hemline! India Hicks wore a similar silhouette at her wedding a few years ago and it was beautiful (although still wore a veil…)

Catherine and Camilla looked wonderful. Though overall I thought the guest fashion was of a very low
standard.

sammylady37 · Today 18:22

Not a fan of the dress, feel it’s too much- too much lace, too high a neckline, too fussy etc.

I don’t like the bridesmaids dresses either, they’re very boring and almost giving ‘trad wife’ vibes.

JaneJeffer · Today 18:23

You cant deny age has a role in this. The way media and men talk about woman's bodies now, is very different than what was tolerated before. Look up Daily Mail in the 2000s and Rob Kenyon.

If you assume that being in Debrett makes you rich, or not in need of a 'normal' job I have a tumbledown house and an ancient car to show you! My DDs were privately educated with a combination of bursaries, scholarships, obliging grandparents, second hand uniform and absolutely no holidays ever.

lol. First of all you clearly still weren’t destitute, otherwise you’d prioritised something else and not private school; two, if you have grandparents who can contribute to private schooling you do come from a well off family.
I also bet “no holidays” doesn’t mean “no visiting family or friends in their big country houses”.

and lastly the bride in question is clearly not living on the NHS nurse salary. Even from looking at what she was wearing when they were dating

AsparagusSeason · Today 18:29

So true! Remember Diana’s sister in law? She was quite cool yet on her wedding day she wore something that wouldn’t have looked out of place on a zombie in the Thriller video. Also Linley’s first wife wore the most dreadful get up and unflattering hair-do, ditto Helen Taylor and Beatrice.

Enko · Today 18:31

AsparagusSeason · Today 11:49

Beatrice is so like Victoria. Amazing really considering the huge distance between them and I can’t think of others in the family that have that similarity in terms of eyes, mouth and head shape.

Actually. As much as I loathe to say this but if you look at Older Victoria and current A M-W. There is a lot of resemblance.

I also think Harry looks a lot like his uncle Spencer. Harder to see right now as Charles has put on a lot of weight but look at wedding photos of. Charles to Victoria and Harry to Meghan there IMO is a strong resemblance

Agree on the dress it's the top that makes it a bit off for me. The bottom is ok.

I however like the bridesmaid dresses but then I like very clean lines like that.

Looks like they are going for an English country garden vibe as I see Lupins and Peonies as well

(Where I live it is illegal to plant Lupins)

Sorry not the point of the thread but where and why is it illegal to plant lupins, please?!

TheignT · Today 18:35

I agree. I don't understand why women think judgemental comments about another woman's bra fitting poorly or a dress 'not doing them any favours' are acceptable.

You would never say something like that at a professional networking event. It all the 2000s daily mail and magazine cover pages and the internalised misogyny still lingering in Zillennials and Boomers. I'm not sure how they dont see it—perhaps they find it cathartic so dont want to?

Regardless, I'm glad to see this kind of attitude dying out in younger generations.

You can talk about fashion without being nasty. I'm confused why so many think it's not possible?

As a boomer I think lots of the comments are nasty as is your comment about boomers. Have you checked age's of all the posters?

Just saw some more photos here:

not sure how I feel about Sarah Chatto's outfit, it's like a plain white work shirt and slightly fancier skirt, with a hat bunged on the top so she doesn't look like one of the waiting staff. (More conniptions from the style and beauty lot - black AND white!)

I have no idea who Isabelle de La Bruyere is but her outfit is stunning.

Agree i'm not keen on Sophie's bag, it's a bit of a mismatch in styles but the blue doesn't even match her dress.

Somebody in the photo with Lena Tindall having a blast is wearing amazing tartan trews.

Yea I like Isabelle de Bruyere’s outfit best of all. Mia Tindall looked v grown up ( and quite typically teenage sulky).

The poster later said it is illegal in Sweden as they're considered invasive over there.

For those who asked, I am sure I saw the Bride's Mum get out of a car with the bridesmaids - she was wearing a pale blue dress and jacket, very understated. She seemed to be holding back. I felt for her - a massive day and sadly without her DH who died several years ago.

Camilla's wedding outfits were the best. Really impressed at how she got it so right for both the ceremony and blessing. IMO obviously! Grin

The bride's mum died years ago. Could be stepmum.

ExOptimist · Today 18:46

Yes lovely just what we all need to see. Over privileged types dripping in designer gear and jewels. While the vast majority of the Kings subjects struggle to put a decent meal on the table.

What a load of bollocks. The vast majority of the population do not struggle to put a meal on the table.
You don't have to look at the pictures of this wedding if you don't want to. It is hardly excessive, looks like a normal middle class wedding.
However much you want it to look like the era of the French revolution and Marie Antoinette, it simply isn't.

There is such a thing as social capital though Andouillette and who you know!

Please note that I am not commenting on your situation specifically but it certainly does apply to some.

For example, I know two sons from fairly impoverished families in Debretts who have each managed to get good positions in merchant banks thanks to coming from “the right line of people” which seems outrageous in 2026 but there you have it! I’ve no doubt they will have to prove themselves and work hard to stay and justify their positions but their family names definitely opened doors for them initially.

Edited

You make a very fair point, social capital is very useful for some. Unfortunately it doesn't work unless you are by nature wildly sociable. My parents forgot to give me sociability lessons so I am a bit of a hermit!

I think Eugenie is extremely attractive.
This is why it’s such a shame that she resembled my favourite Aunt Isabella from the 1960s.
Did she really want to look like ‘that’ or was she persuaded?
Whichever, she would not look out of place in a postwar (39-45) Pathe News reel.

ScrollofDoom · Today 18:50

To the pp who said a lot of stylish women look terrible on their wedding day - I give you - Kim Murray (formerly Sears). I was ASTOUNDED she wore something so frumpy on her day. Her hair was also awful. i feel bad saying that because I really like them as a couple.
