The royal family

Royals attending high profile events - business as usual or tone deaf?

Over the past week Charles has been at London Fashion Week, Kate at the rugby and her and William at the BAFTAS. They may have attended other things, I don't know.

These are all very high profile events. the sort of thing my late mum would've described as 'glitzy' so I suppose not the less glam outings, or charity events.
In light of the fact no official statement has gone out from the BP, do you think it's appropriate they're still attending this sort of thing, or it's a bit tone deaf considering the conversations happening about the future of the monarchy, how much Charles already knew about Andrew etc?

They were either complicit in AMW’s various misdemeanors OR were extraordinarily incurious OR were extraordinarily stupid.

Have you ever read the Relationships board on here with women finding out their partners have cheated and how many did not have an inkling ? This with someone they lived with? Do you apply the same criticisms of those women?

You're just gossiping now. It would be the same thing if I said " well I'm sure Meghan Markle knew Andrew before and partied with him " 🤷‍♀️ it's all just gossip that at this moment is unfounded.

Well-apart from the fact that Charles was opposed to AMW being appointed a Trade Envoy, saying that he was unsuitable for the role, and Charles being aware of a £12 million payoff to buy Virginia Giuffre’s silence.

BillericayDickie · 23/02/2026 11:52

of course they should still turn up (was a bit surprised as its half term)
as long as the odious A and his family are out of sight.

This is taking the “Aww, they’re just like us!!” line to extremes!

StripedMug · 23/02/2026 11:52

Honestly, I don't have any idea what my uncle gets up to. He could be the world's worst offender and I wouldn't have a clue. No idea why anyone would expect eg the PoW to know what Andrew was up to, not least because he had barely left school at the time.

I think the RF are doing the right thing with business as usual. They will be criticised either way of course.

Sorry-this post was for@Traceysgoingtobelivid

I see you are trying to cover yourself with your latest post, I really wouldn’t put in writing on a public forum stating as a fact that William or any member of the royal family is complicit in any of Andrew’s crimes, unless of course you have proof, do you? Or is it just something you want to believe?

Until September 2022, AMW was protected by QE2.
What were C and W supposed to do ?

Covering myself? From or with what??

@CurlewKate Do tell how William and Charles covered up the rape of trafficked women, I would be very careful if I was you in what you claim is a fact on here.

Edited

There is no evidence to back up any such crime - that’s why he’s been arrested on a different matter. I can totally believe the rest of the family knew he was a complete sleaze knocking around with deeply unsavoury people but bring a complete sleaze is not a crime.

So what if he was aware, what could he actually do if TLQ Head of State wanted Andrew to settle out of court?

VanCleefArpels · 23/02/2026 12:00

maskymask · 23/02/2026 11:40

@Traceysgoingtobelivid Andrew was arrested for misconduct in a public office. I don’t believe no one in the RF had any questions about his conduct before his arrest. You can disagree but it’s not controversial to question and it doesn’t mean Im spending my morning playing with a pitchfork!

Do you know the contents of your sibling/ uncle’s emails?

Traceysgoingtobelivid · 23/02/2026 12:01

@CurlewKate to buy Virginia Giuffre’s silence.

Was their an agreement in the out of court settlement that she had to be silent, or did you make that up?

maskymask · 23/02/2026 12:01

Honestly, I don't have any idea what my uncle gets up to. He could be the world's worst offender and I wouldn't have a clue

You might if there were articles about your uncle in the tabloids though! We’ve all seen the photos of him with Epstein post sentence which again would likely give you a clue.

iwouldshagtomhardy · 23/02/2026 11:40

Are you aware the dress Catherine wore last night is 7 years old ?

People often defend the monarchy by pointing out that the Princess of Wales rewears outfits, but that’s a really weak argument when her wardrobe is estimated to cost tens — if not hundreds — of thousands of pounds a year. Rewearing a dress that costs more than many people’s entire annual clothing budget doesn’t meaningfully address concerns about wealth, privilege, or public perception; it’s an optics-focused detail rather than a substantive response. Whether you’re for or against the royal family, there are much stronger arguments on both sides, and this one doesn’t really hold up under scrutiny,

I don’t know which family members were complicit. But it is ridiculous to think that Charles and William for two weren’t.

I agree with pp stick to facts otherwise it’s just spreading misinformation.

maskymask · 23/02/2026 12:04

@VanCleefArpels why would you need to read someone’s emails to know things seemed shady?

I have never read Harvey Weinstein emails or met him but I certainly knew all the rumours about his conduct from various press articles over the years. Do you think people close to him had never heard rumours?

maskymask · 23/02/2026 12:07

Traceysgoingtobelivid · 23/02/2026 11:42

Ah, you believe! well that’s it then case closed 🙄

And you don’t believe so how is it any different?

I don’t mind being proved wrong though.

Dollymylove · 23/02/2026 12:08

These events are booked months in advance. Its their job. Do you think they should cancel everything, including charity events that would bring lots of money in for said charities?
Yeah ok crack on

You can believe what you like, it’s the stating of beliefs as fact that I have a problem with, as I have repeatedly demonstrated on this thread.

maskymask · 23/02/2026 12:10

More transparency around Royal finances can only be a good thing imo.

When have I stated it as fact? I said “I believe” or “imo”, Im entitled to my own beliefs.

Would you expect the future Queen to rock up in primarni?

Yeah ok crack on

My point is these aren't charity events, they're very high profile 'showbiz' events. I think the optics are really off, but according to this thread I am very much in the minority.
