I was harassed and stalked, as are hundreds of thousands of women in the UK. The police arranged for my letterbox to be boarded up, and I was also provided with a post box on the wall, an outside light, door chain & wall mirror, and they checked my locks were strong. I was loaned a hardwired alarm for a whole week, woo hoo.
And that was it. ‘Ring us if he turns up again’. I was alone with two young DC and it was horrendous. I had to get them to school, get to work, pick them up, get home, all the while looking over my shoulder.
And that was considered a decent service, provided because I was in a relatively medium/high profile job at the time.
Harry has no idea what women in the UK endure day in, day out, just to go to work and to exist quietly and safely. I absolutely detest the way he exposed so many women to media intrusion and unnecessary speculative interest via Spare, his money-making prurient autobiography. The misogyny drips off the pages.
