News banner from the Torygraph saying Andrew and Sarah are losing their titles. They will be ‘put into Abeyance’ Andrew also to lose the Order of the Garter. Sarah will be known as Sarah Ferguson, he retains ‘Prince’ as he is the son of HM QE2.

Whats the purpose of it, what does it achieve or mean?

I have a vision of Princess Anne finally losing patience, getting on the blower to Andrew and giving him a bollocking, and telling him to agree to lose the titles etc for the sake of his King, and the memory of his beloved mother.

The Torygraph wouldn’t be going big on this story if they hadn’t been briefed by very good sources. Andrew obviously had this coming, but it’s a gentle slap on the wrist in comparison with what he has coming when William becomes King. By all accounts, William can’t stand his uncle & will be quite happy to throw him to the wolves.

It’s only something the King is considering according to the Independent, it’s not actually happened.

I think the Government would be very happy re the China spy scandals if Andrew goes along with ‘abeyance’.

I think it may have added to the pressures on Charles.

I think the membership of the order of the garter is restricted, so effectively he was blocking someone else as he is no longer "allowed" to do that role. So that is important ceremonially. But his title removal? Payback for not moving out of the lodge when asked nicely to do so. And further confirmation that he maybe royal but no longer involved, ever or at all.

I do wonder if the posthumous VG bibliography has been a final final straw.
