Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

I was listening to a radio article this morning about men having hair transplants. I wonder would William ever try it?

Is that a typo or do you think she's making some kind of stand about lighter coloured hair?

Yes, that made me laugh as well!

blobby10 · 04/09/2025 15:13

Whilst its none of my business what anyone does with their hair, I thought the cut she had when pregnant with Charlotte (yes I know its 10 years ago!) was much more flattering - she had it about a foot shorter than it is now and long layers shaped around her face. It looked amazing.

FirstNationsEnglish · 04/09/2025 15:13

I said you are being unreasonable on the grounds that you referred to Katherine, Princess of Wales, as 'Kate Middleton'. In addition, the poor girl has been through THE most horrendous time, whilst trying to keep a 'normal' family dynamic ... all the while under public scrutiny.

Most women change their hair colour and / or their hair style throughout their lives. Why does it matter that she's sporting some lovely sun-bleached highlights after this glorious summer we have enjoyed?

I said it was nice and there was nothing wrong with wearing a wig.

What is dismal about replying to an OP asking if we believe she's wearing one and me saying I do?

Why does she have to “come clean” dismal let her look fabulous. Most of Hollywood wear wigs but you don’t have to have the big disclosure.

That shade of green is awful on you.

There are plenty of people who I'd love to live the lives of but Kate Middleton is definitely not one of them. Her entire life, including her family, her health, her personality, her style and her hobbies are dictated by a strange and archaic set of opaque rules, which she's very good at following and are designed perfectly for their purpose, to make sure she blends into the background and causes no offence to anyone, ever. Even if that means appearing fully made up and dressed up on the doorstep of the hospital hours after giving birth, or never appearing in public without hiding hair loss from chemotherapy, or forcing her small children to sit through hours of strange, long boring ceremonies. And sitting through them herself.

She can't even think about dying her hair platinum blonde or pink or blue. She can go from dark brown through to mousy brown and still have a million strangers analyse whether going 2 shades lighter suits her or whether a person who has recently recovered from cancer might be wearing a wig.

If it bothered him, he would have gone for it years ago, I would imagine.

People could say Catherine or the PoW or whatever but deliberately using her maiden name when they’ve been married for 14 years or so is rude and dim.

Well, the issue with that is that there are millions of Catherines and Katherines, and not everyone wants to kowtow by using her ridiculous, anachronistic title.

Saying 'Kate Middleton' is recognisable shorthand. Just as Princess Diana was still referred to as that in the years after her divorce, long after that had stopped being her title. (And as she remained 'Lady Di', pronounced 'Lady Dee', for years in Europe.)

Yes, it looked lovely then, I know what you mean.

She looks like most of my middle-aged trendy Modern Orthodox Jewish friends, so I would say it’s a wig. I think it suits her.

I doubt it, I think Harry got one and it was a disaster, looked abysmal.

Can't agree with this sorry. Yes she has had a hard time, but those going through a HORRENDOUS time are people with stage 4 cancer who are there because they can't get appointments, are on waiting lists for years and don't have the RF's money or clout. Kate hasn't been through a HORRENDOUS time, awful yes, scary yes but even focussing on her name being wrong, is really such a first world issue in terms of what is going on in the world today. People in GAZA, they are going through a horrendous time.

In France, I heard her frequently referred to as "Lahdi Dee" which I rather liked.

Plastictreees · 04/09/2025 15:16

What is this rubbish about women not having long hair after a certain age?!

I am in my mid thirties and have ‘long princess’ hair and have no intention of chopping it off when I reach the arbitrary age of 40.

Whatever it is, she really is a bona fide stunner. A real class act.

She’s just lovely, and she’s naturally a woman whose personality was made for the Wales motto, ‘Ich Dien’. It must cost her so much at times.
She’s a really good egg.

Mydadsbirthday · 04/09/2025 15:16

I'm a fan of hers and I think she is beautiful but I really don't like this - the colour, the length especially and the curls - all awful. It's way too long. Her brunette hair is lovely.

Tons of fitness influencers have that exact hair she's bought

And as Camilla will in my mind continue to be Camilla Parker Bowles as I flatly refuse to refer to her as queen, queen consort or anything remotely human.

Because lots of women will want to copy her hair. I would want people in Hollywood to admit it when asked also.

Yes!! I follow an Orthodox Jewish woman on social media and it is very very similar.

Except the vein part is visible in the photos of Kate so probably half and half.

Dragonflydancer · 04/09/2025 15:18

Millytante · 04/09/2025 15:06

Oh wow; I’m immensely fond of her, even admire her, and can’t imagine how difficult things have been, God love her, so this isn’t sniping BUT……cripes I loathe this Disney princess hair mania everywhere. (I thought the same re the recent thread about Amal Clooney)
I’d really love to see Kate chop a good twelve inches off that lot. (Not keen on the blonde against the colours she likes to wear, but maybe it’s giving her a boost)
Dissecting her appearance isn’t ever kind or helpful, so this is a secret impression I’m only whispering, you understand.
I guiltily admit I flinch at extravagant long hair on adult women. I know it’s an unacceptable reaction, and I can’t think of a single defence.
I’m not one who thinks a woman must get a shortish bob at forty, but somehow there’s long hair, and there’s ‘wrong’ long hair!

Angela Rayner’s hairdo for example always looks illogical to me paired with her persona. (When she’s curled it, it’s even more so)
With Amal C, it seems like a beauty indulgence too far, knocking off a few IQ points (which absolutely isn’t the case.)

I can’t pinpoint why I do this, and God knows I really adore a head of long wild hair on many an over 40, even over 70, woman.
But often, it’s as though the barnet counteracts some important element of the woman, resulting in what might be called a visual oxymoron.
It doesn’t look right, in some bonkers, indefensible universe of judgmental nonsense. Jarring.
It’s entirely the subject’s business and her pleasure, and the likes of me are very, very out of order. (But I still dislike it! 🤫)

I hear you. Extravagantly long (and specifically princess styled hair) on women is like box dye on men.
I think its particularly jarring on women who have serious roles (eg royals, politicians) because it clashes directly witj how the public would like to perceive them as spending their time.
Diana with her short hair always looked like she could potentially roll up her sleeves and get stuck into something.

I also have long hair in my 40s with no intention of cutting it but this style is just too long on her. It's giving Princess Andre!

Hiphopboppertybop99 · 04/09/2025 15:22

I don't think it's a wig. The colour is fine, but a couple of photos I've seen the style around her face doesn't suit her. Could be the photo/ angle or the weather but it made her face look awful.
