Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is she not wearing tights/pantyhose (still very much enjoying the MN'r whose relative (not having English as a first language) asked an architect to include pantyhose design in building details..)

I think the ‘tights rule’ was something the old Queen mandated. Now she’s dead, I think Kate’s been photographed without them a few times.

Thank goodness, imagine being expected to wear tights all year round.

Kate looked so much better today, not a fan of the dowdy dress, but her hair looks miles better.

CurlewKate · 09/09/2025 05:08

I’ve never worn mega expensive shoes, but if it means you can go without tights I might have to buy some….

Who is dressing this beautiful woman? What a hideous dress.

Why's everything she wears a tribute or a nod (hate that stupid word) to the queen or Diana Spencer? It's so annoying. Is her hair a tribute to Beyonce?

Btw her hair is much thicker and fuller than when she met William and in her 20s, make of that what you Will ...

Agree. Her clothes have been really off lately.

She is beautiful but she is far too thin. Rumour has it she has a laxative addiction. I wonder what would happen if Prince William had fallen for a really fat woman? There goes my mad Royal thoughts again 😋

Iwantmyoldnameback · 09/09/2025 09:43

How many women go their entire life without colouring their hair? Given the timeline of her finishing treatment she should now be able to use hair dye and I think sh has. I also agree she has extensions, and why not?
Let's not forget the late Queen was very controlling about what the Firm wore etc so she's got a bit of catching up to do.

This is not about Kate personally but it's a sad comment on what it is like to be a woman in the public eye - if she was the same person completely but fat or even a normal weight, all of the "classy" or "future queen" material commentary would fall away.

We know that from the Duchess of Pork stuff from Sarah Ferguson. The knives would be out for her. That's why Diana ended up with an eating disorder as well.

I just wish we valued women for things other than being very thin

Wow. What an abusive, body-shaming comment—especially about a woman who is a cancer survivor and still recovering from chemotherapy. And there’s absolutely no rumor of her having a laxative addiction. You should be ashamed of yourself.

MaturingCheeseball · 09/09/2025 10:50

I don’t think laxatives and public engagements are in any way compatible 😬 Therefore the pp’s comment is totally ridiculous. Gavel.

CurlewKate · 09/09/2025 10:50

So is the consensus that she has dyed her hair back to its original colour?

Thank you - I'd just come on here to say the same.
What a vile post.

I think the general consensus was that it was never as blonde as people assumed. It was either digitally altered to appear blonder by the media or else the sun and natural light made it look lighter than it was.

Same event, different photos.

Can you imagine a plus size person in this role?

And/or a regular person with opinions, ideas, off days?

It's comical to consider it.

It's unkind to comment on weight. But I recall Diana, it was so sad, seeing her fade away before your eyes.

If there were a plus-size person in this role, she would face the same kind of abusive comments Catherine is getting now for being too thin—even though people know she has a health condition and is recovering from chemotherapy for cancer.

And Catherine is a regular person, with opinions, ideas, and off days. So it isn’t comical to consider—it’s simply the reality, because that’s exactly who she is.

It's certainly very unlkind to post completely unsubstantiated rumours about a woman's alleged addiction/mental health problem.
Diana is not related to this. At all.

Not all Royals are thin, you do realise? The plus-sized ones seem to manage just fine.

Serenster · 09/09/2025 12:32

It not actually. Candid photos of Catherine before she was publicly known as William’s girlfriend clearly shows she had naturally thick and wavy hair. Since she has been in the public eye she has styled it (with blow dries, straighteners and chemical treatments most likely - I have similar hair and that is what I use!) to manage the volume and texture. It’s not hard.

cumbriaisbest · 09/09/2025 12:53

re Diana, I feel like the RF learnt absolutely zilch from what went so terribly wrong.

I'm not so sure about that.

Charles was encouraged to marry the 'right' kind of girl from the right 'sort' of family. Their true feelings and suitability for each other on a personal rather than background level was pretty much ignored. The marriage then broke down publicly, unpleasantly and with long lived consequences for both.

The family learned for that and relaxed the rules a bit for William.

William married a girl from a good, but not traditionally the correct background for a future king. Their courtship was long, they had a chance to really know each other and what they were each signing up for. Catherine presumably was offered the same advice and support Meghan turned down to ensure that she was suitable/prepared for the roles she was committing her life to. They appear to have a very stable marriage and are performing the roles they signed up for well.

Harry was encouraged to take time to get to know Megan better before committing, to give Meghan time to get to know him and their role she was stepping into. They decided against this advice (and if fact found it insulting and unreasonable) and then found the role was totally unsuitable for them and have had a very public, unpleasant breakup with the family which will have long lived consequences for both. If they had taken the advice and support offered the result may have been the same, stepping away from public life as senior working royals, but managed in a better way, an amicable rather than acrimonious parting of ways.

Diana was right for the firm. But wrong for Charles.
Catherine appears so far to be right for William and the firm.
Meghan appears to be right for Harry but wrong for the firm.

Omg stop! It isn't body shaming. It's something that I have heard. Stop being so precious about every comment. I'm not body shaming her in the slightest, if anything I feel she is beautiful but far too thin. It's ok to talk about these things, and I know she's a cancer survivor I wasn't taking away from that. Sigh. You can't say anything these days. I'm certainly not abusive.
