Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

Apparently, her personal assistant has left (moved on) and that’s why she suddenly has hair that doesn’t quite look natural. Her former PA was responsible for creating her entire look.

Weepixie · 08/09/2025 05:50

@IShouldNotCoco please tell me that you don’t actually believe that bit about the stylist being responsible for her entire look 🙈

Some poster above said she hoped Kate’s hair wouldn’t deflect from the reason she was st the museum.

I don’t think the poster needed to worry. She was there to look at a renovated garden.

I find these people utterly pointless.

NewAgeNewMe · 08/09/2025 07:52

She looked fantastic the day after, so possibly bad photos or a bad hair day. Or in my case both.

Well, exactly. Her hairdo is her 'reason'. Now that she's produced ample numbers of heirs, she exists to be a nice-looking, smiley, unthreatening clotheshorse who can be replied upon to never say anything that betrays a personal conviction or an opinion. She exists only, insofar as the general public are concerned, as a body to be looked at.

People thought her brown hair was completely natural - however years ago (early in her relationship with William) she was photographed with those glue in hair extensions to the side of her head.

No, that was a false assumption that was corrected. What was shown was actually a small scar from childhood surgery.

Didn't at least one of Henry VIII’s three wives called C/Katherine used the spellings interchangeably, and occasionally ‘Kathryn’ (from memory)?

Yes, that might be right. I think back then spelling was also not a concrete as it is now; it was more a case of replicating the sound on paper. Stuart and Stewart was an example of this kind of interchangeable approach to spelling.

In any case, as far as I know Cate is a more modern variation of Kate, despite the C in Catherine having being used for much longer.

I rather like the Kathryn spelling!

And photos were taken of Catherine from both sides of her profile on that occasion. The “extensions” were visible on one side, but not the other, supporting the fact it was indeed a scar as the palace explained. Unless people think she had extensions on one side of her head only?

(That whole kerfuffle just indicates how much simpler things were then. These days of course certain people would be gleefully all over the scar explanation, as it would be “evidence” that William is a domestic abuser. But they missed a trick there. Or, more likely, weren’t at that stage interested in the British Royal Family…)

There's a passage in one of the Jeeves and Wooster books where one of Bertie's aunts deplores the 'modern American' spelling Kathryn.

no Kate is often used for Catherine or Katherine.

But why? Her initial is C why make it K? If it often used then presumably it isn't always used.

She curated an exhibit highlighting Holocaust survivors. She is working to provide resources for early childhood development. Her push for people to recognize the need for nature is refreshing for me as my country is trying to destroy our national park system and eradicate the White House Rose Garden. She just doesn't force people to listen to word salad

Do you have any idea what actual curation means? It means you research, source, organise transport and insurance for, hang etc artworks, generally manage an exhibition and its associated events, and and write and/or commission material that puts the work in context, whether that's programme notes, wall displays etc.

KM took two (perfectly nice) photographs of Holocaust survivors, and hugged them.

BemusedAmerican · 08/09/2025 13:01

I tend to think she used her soft power behind the scenes. My nephew went to middle school with children who had never heard of the Holocaust. I am glad Catherine is trying to educate future generations.

Really? She is working to provide rescources? I don't think so.

And I know a teacher of year 4 ( 8 year olds) who liked the Holocaust as it was good subject.

Makes me heave.

I know a girl called Catherine and she uses Cate. With a C. The K thing is a bit odd now you mention it.

It is very unusual for any of the C\Katherine\Cathleen\Catriona names to be shortened to Cate, but Kate is not unusual at all. I know whereof I speak!

See the Business Taskforce set up by the Early Childhood Foundation.

cumbriaisbest · 08/09/2025 14:00

So how many hours has she put it in?

Serenster · 08/09/2025 15:06

I don’t know. Do you?

What I do know is that absent the work of the Foundation, this Task Force didn’t exist. And I also know (personal experience here) that if people want to rely on their soft power to make things happen they need to commit a certain amount of their own time to it as the quid pro quo.

upinaballoon · 08/09/2025 16:27

The checks match.

That’s the problem with “soft power”, isn’t it? It’s completely unquantifiable. And I’m not sure what the quid pro quo in this instance can be- presumably the companies involved consider adding the Foundation’s imprimatur to their branding makes business sense?
