Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

Well said. I agree, I couldn't find the right wording without coming across odd.
There is comparison.
Since white women started wearing hair extensions it opened the market, supply and demand issues, shaving the head of the poorer women in society for money.

Edited

There was also widespread wig-wearing in the 1960s by white women, which had no religious or cultural basis.
When it was very common either to have a weekly set at the salon, or DIY (pre-Carmen rollers) at home, many fashion-conscious women used to wear a glam wig (or three) during summer hols, especially if touring around.
My Ma’s hair became very thin and hard to style after illness, and she pounced eagerly on ads in the back pages of newspapers for all kinds of (short) wigs by mail order.
All fabulous Space age nylon, I think!
She wore wigs for yonks, until she finally said sod it and just cut her real hair really short, and never looked back.
But she had some cracking styles, from a platinum Dusty Springfield to a Mia Farrow crop. She was a game old gal.

Well, I’ve no doubt you are correct, though I didn’t understand any of that. 😹

I think this poster is a fan of Meghan Markle. Apparently there are still one or two.

I am a fan of all the royal family. I can't wait until I get my barnet done on Monday so I too can look like our role models princess Catherine, Katie Price, Bonnie Blue, Molly-Mae Hague and the GC.

Sidebeforeself · 06/09/2025 20:04

@Falseknock Yawn. Not funny.

Outig · 06/09/2025 20:04

Much more like herself. Could just have been a bad photograph the other day, God knows we’ve all had ‘em! Mine don’t get scrutinised by all and sundry.

EmpressSisi · 06/09/2025 21:14

I’ve seen it suggested that the media may have adjusted the colour in some photos to make her hair look blonder (as shown in the images below). It does make some sense, since in the second photo her hair looks closer to the shade we see in more recent pictures — more of a bronde tone. Of course, it could just have been a bad hair day. Her hair tends to go big when there’s moisture in the air, and it was reportedly quite humid on Thursday. It’s also possible that sun and natural day light made it appear lighter than it really was.

What a strange fuss to make over a woman’s hair, eh? 🤷🏼‍♀️ And if the photos really were altered, it does make you wonder why the media wanted her to look blonder 🤔

You know what they say blondes have more fun.

Hardtofindone · 06/09/2025 21:27

Definitely different look remotely like a wig today.

So many people suffer no changes to their hair on chemo. The only people I've known to have been those with breast cancer, cancers in the abdominal cavity didn't seem to have the hair loss effect from everyone I've seen. People really didn't have much knowledge in this.

She's undergone a traumatic period in her life, and maybe, like so many of us do after stressful events is experimenting with new hairstyles( I'm sure loads of us have done this after job changes, break upd bereavement etc) I'm not personally a fan of the easy she wore her hair but the assumption it was a wig was crazy.

In Scotland people used to talk of a ‘drunk arse’. Something to do with a person being full of wind and p**s.

I understand what it means now.

The photograph people have concentrated on was one of many taken that day, and if you have a look at others she’s no different in them as to how she looked today.

I think the original photo was just a bad photo on the day and that those who published it in order to be nasty have been left looking in a very poor light after today’s pictures.

That beautifully cut trouser suit was a triumph. I loved it with that ivory frilled blouse, creating a look reminiscent of a French advocate!
So simple and unobtrusive, nothing ‘in your face’, just elegant.

Yes, there was even a scene in Dirty Dancing where they are trying on wigs. Just because one group does something it doesn’t make it unique to them.

I expect that Kate has always had extensions.

no Kate is often used for Catherine or Katherine.

Didn't at least one of Henry VIII’s three wives called C/Katherine used the spellings interchangeably, and occasionally ‘Kathryn’ (from memory)?

It has an odd green tinge to it.

I feel bad for her because I’ve been there. I’ve had that exact same colour. What has happened is they underprocessed the blonde and then tried to correct it with toner. But you cant correct that with toner.

The foils themselves are just awful. She has roots all over the front of her face and a yellow blonde and then the rest is like a block colour of underdeveloped bleach and an attempt to correct with toner - but toner won’t fix what that hairdresser has done.

You can tell that the hairdresser is very poorly trained - she hasn’t even done her face properly - she’s used a foil technique from decades ago.

People thought her brown hair was completely natural - however years ago (early in her relationship with William) she was photographed with those glue in hair extensions to the side of her head. They aren’t clamped onto the head it’s more like they are sticky taped on as they have a noticeable strip of adhesive.

I think this needs a broader discussion on women as skinny as her don’t have their own hair because they can’t grow it as their bodies simply aren’t getting enough nutrients.

She’s been faking her hair for so long and now she’s found a shitty hairdresser her secret is out. It looks so cheap. She needs to fire her hairdresser.
