Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

She has extensions or a half weave.

Her hair wasn’t that thick when she was in her 20s. Hair normally gets thinner as you age, not double in volume.

Many famous women have extensions/weaves - they can afford the best quality hair and use the best installers.

I do find it a bit odd that some people seem so invested in denying she has any enhancements as though she became super human when she married William. She’s a woman in the public eye who has money, of course she will be doing tweakments.

She had hair extensions. Her hair looks utterly awful and the colour is so wrong.

It has an odd green tinge to it.

Grapewrath · 04/09/2025 18:18

She’s definitely had a weave and the colour isn’t great on her either.

I'm not slagging kate off because I love her, but i come from a country where only young girls have hair like this and I feel that this kind of "princess hair" coupled witj the lighter shade actually looks ageing

To be fair, she is a princess 😁

Are you a hairdresser? Those guys always say cut it shorter!! 🤣

I once had my bra strap length hair cut off to the shoulder on recommendation from a hair dresser. Didn't get a single complement from anyone, just "why did you do that??"

I remember going to the hairdresser after the 2nd (never ending) lockdown. I had lovely long, curly hair down past my bra strap because I was meant to be getting it cut the day they put us in lockdown. It was so lovely and thick and looked good.

Hairdresser said I need to cut x amount off and cut in layers. Ended up to my shoulders and because it's curly it looked even shorter. I hated it. Have been trying to grow it that length ever since.

I’m not going to cast aspersions on a woman appearance post CA and in recovery

Please will people stop calling her Kate Middleton. She is Catherine, Princess of Wales.

Don't you mean Princess of Wales and Countess of Chester, Her Royal Highness Kate The Duchess of Rothesay? Wink

'Girl'? Ugh.

Calling her Kate Middleton is considerably less problematic than calling a 44 year old woman a 'girl.'

Yeah you’re right a colloquial vs a fact is more wrong. Ugh yourself.

Hiptothisjive · 04/09/2025 18:36

BilbaoBaggage · 04/09/2025 17:25

You criticise someone for referring to her as Kate, while describing a 43 year old woman with 3 kids as a girl? Help me understand that.

It’s a colloquial. That’s what there is to understand.

I have no idea if she's wearing a wig or extensions or anything else, don't know enough about it, but I'm about the same age as her and my hair has indeed pretty much doubled in volume in the last few years. It's ridiculously thick now, annoyingly so. If I could be arsed with treatments and blow drying and all that jazz it might look as luxurious as hers.

Leave her alone, let her carry out her public appearances in peace.

If only they’d leave us alone.

JustSawJohnny · 04/09/2025 18:44

I do think it looks a bit wiggy. It's much thicker than I've seen her hair before, which is usually the tell with wigs.

Maybe we're just expecting a wig because we know she's been having cancer treatment?

I’m sorry but I’ve never heard “syrup” used in this context. What does that mean?

fwiw I think she looks great and if it is a wig or anything else it’s none of my business.

syrup and fig is cockney rhyming slang for wig, commonly shortened to 'syrup'.

or is that Whigs not royals?

Very good!

Henry VIII's wives are different though because he had so many. Other royal consorts are generally just Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra, Prince Albert etc etc.

Zackly. You’d learn the names of the six queens by rote as a young kid at school, and no amount of reprogramming would get that stuff out!

EmmaRose89 · 04/09/2025 18:52

I love Kate, she is kind, intelligent, beautiful and resiliant. Personally I think she looks better with shorter, darker hair.
I don't think the lightening is a result of the sun but probably to blend grey.

There are lots of non Henry VIII examples too

Anne Neville, Elizabeth of York, Elinor of Aquitaine

It's a long tradition really.

Dagnabit · 04/09/2025 18:59

Whatever it is, it’s definitely, not defiantly! 🤨

So shallow

Edited

I think more likely her hair is a weave rather than extensions, as an extension wearer myself at some point we would be able to see the micro rings/tapes whatever method she uses just by virtue of the wind highlighting the bonds or wearing her hair up, a weave on the other hand is basically a wig permanently sewn into your hair, I watch a lot of weave YouTube videos a weave is the best way to get huge voluminous hair, honestly the women who have weaves look like a walking hair advert! I could never have it done, extensions are uncomfortable enough as it is, let alone having my hair plaited in cornrows and then a weave sewn in, It’s a method mainly women of colour use, the results are stunning though so maybe the pain is worth it.

Christ alive, give the woman a break.
Maybe she loves her new look.
Care to post a photo of yourself op so we can all give you our opinion?

Why the bullying?
Anything wrong with asking about a public person, who is supposed to be "serving your country" and lives off your taxes?
How ridiculous and outdated.

And which country do you live in, where only young women can have long blond hair? How oppressive. And she IS a young woman and very beautiful too.

Ffs

Makemydaypunk · 04/09/2025 19:05

I loved Kate’s hair here, like she’d just stepped out of a salon! (If you are old enough you will know!)
