Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

You must mean ‘mousier’ and ‘bland’. Nasty? You have an extremely odd definition of that word.

No-one uses bland or mousey as anything other than a dig: don't be disingenuous.

I will agree, however, that that post has been more than overtaken in terms of rude comments.

I’m sure she’s allowed grey hair but like a lot of women- including me- she would rather dye it.

Same here.
I hate grey hair and I've been dyeing mine for over 20 years. I'm now 69 and I'm not keeping my grey hair as a badge of ageing.

We still call Anne Boleyn by her maiden name too...

That's a point well made!

Dutchhouse14 · 04/09/2025 17:38

Well it's definitely not blonde.
It's a lighter shade of brown msinmy due to highlights. She probably has some hair pieces or extensions in her hair to thicken and or lengthen it.

But press should really be concentrating on why she visited natural history museum, assuming this was a royal engagement and not a day out, although the two can look very similar sometimes!

My hair would not stand up to so much scrutiny, the pressure to look perfect must be immense.

I don't like the colour at all but she obviously does so that's all that matters. I loved her hair slightly shorter and caramel high lights , I think it was George's first day at school and she was wearing a reddish dress, I thought her hair was stunning then.

Actually it is was LOUIS' first day , just googled.

So why would she choose blonde and not her natural colour as we knew it?

If it's what I think you mean I'm not going to get into a debate about what her previous rounds of chemo may have or not have done.

Edited

No wish to debate somebody's poor health either.

gluenotsoup · 04/09/2025 17:45

If she likes it that’s all that matters. Personally, I think it’s not her best look, and has looked much better and drawn attention to her best features rather than dominating her, when shorter and darker, as seen in one of her pregnancies

Think its extensions and dyed blonder. Think it looks nice

Ansjovis · 04/09/2025 17:48

I follow a wig maker on Instagram and she's said that she thinks it's a topper because there's some volume in the back that isn't consistent with previous photos of her.

CeciliaDuckiePond · 04/09/2025 17:49

It just looks like she's had some highlights put in. It looks nice, but I expect my hair would look nice I had 30 million taxpayers' contributions to spunk on its maintenance.

As soon as I saw the photo, I thought hair extensions. The curls are coming out at the sides from the back, as hair extensions do.

I thought her hair was lovely as it, didn't notice it getting thinner and like she needed extensions.

Yes, I preferred her hair when she was at Wimbledon at the beginning of the summer.

I’m a syrup wearer due to med induced alopecia after cancer treatment. To me there is one photo in particular that gives it away. It’s a wig or hair system IMO. I am totally neutral about her but I looked due to this thread trending as I have an interest in wigs rather than royals.

AliciaLeeming · 04/09/2025 17:53

I don't think that is a great colour or style on her. It would look a lot better with a substantial amount cut off.

My hair colour is similar and it says natural dark ash blonde on the box.
I've lost condition, through illness and my greys are difficult to cover, so I'd say the change is a combination of things.

Henry VIII's wives are different though because he had so many. Other royal consorts are generally just Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra, Prince Albert etc etc.

or is that Whigs not royals?

DirtyBird · 04/09/2025 17:55

Looks like extensions. It looks a mess. Too light and too long.

JaninaDuszejko · 04/09/2025 17:30

She's been dying her hair for over a decade, as can be seen from the abuse she got in the press for having visible roots when pregnant. Wearing a wig is far easier than the upkeep of dyed long hair. FWIW I quite like the idea of her secretly having a natural silver pixie and just wearing brown wigs when working but then being able to walk about unrecognised with her natural hair when off duty.

Love this idea, do you think Queen Elizabeth II ever did that in reverse? Popped on a wig with long red flowing locks so she could walk around without being recognized.

I recently read this piece on Maralago face:
https://theweek.com/health/mar-a-lago-face-the-hottest-maga-plastic-surgery-trend

I think there's a related hair trend / look that involves long blonde extensions.

Hope that she doesn't adopt the rest of the look 😬

ArtesianWater · 04/09/2025 18:05

I think she has extensions and personally prefer her dark hair, but my opinion is irrelevant. What I like about this OTT hair is that she looks like she's having fun with it. God knows she deserves some fun, so good for her!

Are you a hairdresser? Those guys always say cut it shorter!! 🤣

I once had my bra strap length hair cut off to the shoulder on recommendation from a hair dresser. Didn't get a single complement from anyone, just "why did you do that??"

Not disingenuous to think that ‘mousy’ and ‘bland’ while mildly pejorative hardly deserve the strong adjective ‘nasty’.

Muffinmam · 04/09/2025 18:09

She had hair extensions. Her hair looks utterly awful and the colour is so wrong.

Lammysaurus · 04/09/2025 18:12

It's blonde from the sun, you monsters! 😉

Not really. Queen Anne isn’t still alive. Think she had her head chopped off or something. It was in the news …
