Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

She’s still brunette. Maybe some highlights. I think it’s her own hair .

She has been wearing wigs and hairpieces for years. You can tell that from eg the photos of her ski holiday earlier this year where she had perfectly fine but much less voluminous hair.
surprised anyone thinks her huge bouffy styles are all her real hair actually.

I was going to say the same, she’s worn wigs and various hair pieces for years now.

Delphigirl · 04/09/2025 16:16

To clarify I don’t think anyone in the public eye with that sort of voluminous hairdo is relying on natural hair. They all use hair pieces and extensions and wigs. Standard practice these days it seems.

She has been wearing extensions for years, but they are getting silly now.

Look how young she looks in these pictures, she’s like a wee lassie.

PracticallyPeapod · 04/09/2025 16:20

She needs a new hairdresser. It’s a wig and a really bad one.

Alexahelp · 04/09/2025 16:21

I don’t think it’s a full wig, it’s blended too well round her ears. Hairpiece/topper for volume yes. Loads of famous women wear them, but even the best quality full wig is noticeable to the majority of wig wearers I find! (Am a wig wearer) I don’t like it though, too bouffy.

Sh291 · 04/09/2025 16:22

Not sure if it's a wig or hair extensions but I'd be surprised if it's completely natural.

Unfortunately I think the amount of it and how it's styled on her very tiny frame seems too much for her IMO and the length isn't as classy as her usual length. I don't think a 40 year old can pull off that length of hair like they did in their 20's.

Plastictreees · 04/09/2025 16:23

Mydadsbirthday · 04/09/2025 15:19

I also have long hair in my 40s with no intention of cutting it but this style is just too long on her. It's giving Princess Andre!

Haha fair enough, I think it’s the combo of style, length and colour that doesn’t really suit her.

Plastictreees · 04/09/2025 16:25

Ibet · 04/09/2025 15:26

I think it's people with life-long shit hair who hope the people they envy have theirs lopped off at a certain age to even up the score.

Or just plain old misogyny. Woman with long, not straight hair = not a serious person 🙄Women in minority communities have had to put up with similar attitudes about their hair for years.

Yes absolutely.

Incidentally, I have a ‘serious’ job and my ‘long princess hair’ hasn’t impacted this!

labooboo · 04/09/2025 16:25

I like her hair when it’s slightly shorter and that lovely deep chestnut colour. She still looks nice though.

cigarsmokingwoman · 04/09/2025 16:28

Its not a wig but a horrible colour and too long too. It just doesn't suit her.

I'm going lighter (I'm very dark) but not that light and not so suddenly.

sundayfundayclub · 04/09/2025 16:30

Look how young she looks in these pictures,

She definitely looks her age

BunnyLake · 04/09/2025 16:38

Surely she’s just had a few (caramel) highlights. I’ve had that colour myself. I’ve no idea if she wears extensions or hair pieces. They've come a long way since I had some back in the 80s.

Can't agree with this sorry. Yes she has had a hard time, but those going through a HORRENDOUS time are people with stage 4 cancer who are there because they can't get appointments, are on waiting lists for years and don't have the RF's money or clout. Kate hasn't been through a HORRENDOUS time, awful yes, scary yes but even focussing on her name being wrong, is really such a first world issue in terms of what is going on in the world today. People in GAZA, they are going through a horrendous time.

We will agree to disagree regarding a young mum being diagnosed with cancer. You don't think it's horrendous. I happen to think it must be - the fear of losing your life to this disease is no different for princess or pauper. Your lack of empathy and kindness is your choice.

There are no weighing scales of 'worth' when it comes to potentially life-limiting conditions. Every situation is horrendous for the person going through it and for those who love them.

The 'whataboutery' of the rest of your post is a straw man. I won't call it anti-semitic in the hopes that your concerns would also be for the innocent lives lost / kidnapped / tortured by Hamas and their supporters in Israel. Yes, the world can be an evil and wicked place, but the topic of this particular thread is not about the 'world'.

Gibstub · 04/09/2025 16:44

Hair looks so much thicker as well as blond. Could it be hair extensions. Here face looks so tiny.

PosiePetal · 04/09/2025 16:45

I think the parting is slightly more central than usual which has given her bouncy volume at the roots.

HonorLulu · 04/09/2025 16:49

Hiptothisjive · 04/09/2025 14:27

Who’s Kate Middleton? If you mean Catherine, Princess of Wales then so what. The girl changed her hair, it’s called hair dye, hair extensions and styling. We have all changed our hair colour I’m sure. Leave it alone.

'Girl'? Ugh.

Calling her Kate Middleton is considerably less problematic than calling a 44 year old woman a 'girl.'

FatherFrosty · 04/09/2025 16:55

Only an arse would question a fairly recent cancer survivors hair.

MaidOfSteel · 04/09/2025 16:56

Shitpeas · 04/09/2025 13:41

I reckon she's just decided to dye it blonder because it hides the greys better. It's quite a common thing women do in their 40s.

This is what I started doing when I turned 50 and couldn’t bear all the greys any longer. Highlights and lowlights and I’m gradually having more of the blonde highlights. I think dark hair looks harsher against a fair complexion as one gets older. I think the Princess is looking great and I agree with the OP about the outfit. It’s fabulous!

Motherbear44 · 04/09/2025 16:56

dairydebris · 04/09/2025 13:47

I think if we stopped constantly going on about other women's appearances then it might go some way towards helping women not constantly get judged on their appearances.

This. It must be horrible going out under so much scrutiny. I hope that along with many others (male and female) in the public arena leave social media to their PAs.

Muffsies · 04/09/2025 16:56

It's her hair, I recon she probably has a few extensions going through it to thicken it, but the length is natural. She's probably lightening her hair because she's started getting greys and it's easier to blend in.

She's always had great hair and it hasn't changed much over the years. It's not a wig, it's just a bit of colour and a very severe style. Her whole style is very severe and buttoned-up and fitted. I recon she's a control freak nightmare 🤣

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 04/09/2025 16:58

There's something not quite right with it but I think there's something not quite right with her today. Maybe she's having an off day.

Looking at old photos she looks much better with a bit more weight on. Before I get slaughtered she was thin before cancer and she needed to put weight on then.

As for the hair colour and length. I've gone lighter (although I might go back to brunette) and my hair is long and curly (and I'm growing it) so obviously I'm not a mature woman and trying to cling on to being young 🙄.

DisabledDemon · 04/09/2025 16:59

It's none of my business.

CaroleLandis · 04/09/2025 17:03

The lighter colour doesn’t suit her.

AtIusvue · 04/09/2025 17:03

Kate has always had incredibly thick hair, she has no need for extensions. Her actual hair hasn’t thinned, you can see from her scalp.

I know this because my hair has thinned and I use Great lengths hair extensions. I can tell a mile off who is wearing extensions- even if it’s just for thickness.

It’s also not a wig.

What the hairdresser has done, Which Kate doesn’t usually do- is give height to the crown. The roots too have been given lift. This is what makes her hair look different and to some like a wig.

While it is absolutely not a wig or extensions, the hair colour isn’t great. Looks brassy. And even though she has the most gorgeous hair, the long curled hair look is really dated. But we all have bad hair days!! But even on my best day…. My hair could never even compare to Kate’s on her worst!
