Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

I reckon she's just decided to dye it blonder because it hides the greys better. It's quite a common thing women do in their 40s.

This - I’m very happy she’s making my hair colour fashionable.

It’s a wig and it’s way too heavy for her face, the ringlets are ridiculous.

I think our Cath needs to sack the stylist and start again. Get her out of those earthy brown colours, tweed blazers, brogues and slim leg trousers.

Lose the Farrah Fawcett hair.

I understand that she’s trying to relate to people by wearing mid range clothes but she needs an update.

Edited

She has what looks like naturally lightly, wavy hair. Not ringlets.

I wish I was photogenic as Catherine is. Bad hair or not, she still looks bloody amazing. Given she appears to be managing a chronic health condition, as well as recovering from major surgery and chemo, I think she looks like a woman still in recovery and yet she still is stunning.

Sigh. I photograph like a potato with grey sprouting tubulars.

Why? Why should they be? It's the bullying that's wrong not the hair!

I’ve wondered about young girls’ feelings re their hair. I live next door to a junior school, overlooking the schoolyard.
I don’t think there’s a single girl there with short hair. It’s all long, ‘60s Folk singer style. Same out around the city. No sign of any mini-Punks or pixies any more.

I’m not really surprised though, given the ludicrous retrograde way things have turned out, mandating exaggerated gender expression.
Fail in that and a young kid is probably declared gay, or all the rest of it. No wonder a girl loathing ‘girliness’ might be declared non-binary if she’s in the slightest way refusing to conform.

RisingSunn · 04/09/2025 15:53

It is just a few extensions I think - but they haven't blended them well.

Let's not body shame her eh?! Hmm

It's not shaming though? She is very very thin indeed.

DiscoBob · 04/09/2025 15:56

Millytante · 04/09/2025 15:45

I think it’d be the wig wearers who ought not feel any shame, rather than her responsibility to provide
validation there.
Do women wearing wigs feel bad though? I thought it was quite the thing, especially for a quick change in colour. Tons of models and other famous faces use wigs and hairpieces.
Wigs were part of many women’s wardrobes years ago, when maintaining a hairdresser ‘do was too much faff (eg on a Summer holiday) Very common in the 1960s

If it’s about cancer treatment, wouldn’t you say she’s already ripped open her private self for public info/assurance, and so on?

As I say, I think it would be a positive if attractive and successful women in the public eye admitted to wearing wigs. I think it would reduce any stigma that could exist.

CountryMouse22 · 04/09/2025 15:56

That's not blond, it's light brown!

TorroFerney · 04/09/2025 15:56

Superhansrantowindsor · 04/09/2025 15:04

It doesn’t ‘need’ to be anything other than what she wants.

I agree. Needs to for what? Needs to put weight on for what /for who. I think k what posters are really saying is I want her to be nice for me to look at. It’s so misogynistic, as the book title says women don’t owe you pretty. Terrible that it has to be pointed out to women that this is what they are doing.

Millytante · 04/09/2025 15:56

MaggieBsBoat · 04/09/2025 15:37

I think she looks gorgeous and I like her very much for no reason at all. Not sure why as I am a raving republican. Maybe she has hypnotised me!

I think it’s balayage.
also WTAF why can’t the Daily Mail spell correctly? I mean, I forgive and don‘t really care posters about on here - defiantly anyone, but a newspaper should do better!

That’s my position too! Theoretically republican all my life, yet bearing huge affection for the PoW (and in fact all the most senior working royals. I thoroughly adore Queen C, especially) You’re right, it’s sorcery.

cumbriaisbest · 04/09/2025 15:53

And why does that matter to you? She’s very thin for what? What you like to look at?

cumbriaisbest · 04/09/2025 15:58

YourBrickTiger · 04/09/2025 15:16

And as Camilla will in my mind continue to be Camilla Parker Bowles as I flatly refuse to refer to her as queen, queen consort or anything remotely human.

Bet she's gutted.

Well quite. Not just the gay thing but god forbid young girls are deciding they must be boys because they'd really prefer to wear their hair short.

TorroFerney · 04/09/2025 15:57

I don't know her, I never will. It just crosses my mind that she is extemely thin. It would have been nice to have somebody less bland up there.

I wish her no ill will. I've thought for some time she looks unwell as does Charles. They are human beings. It's sad that she has to fit into this mold. Must be exhasting really. I thinbk she looks sad and tired on that picture. Whoever mentioned those ghastly cermonies and entertainment they have to sit through, must be awful

cumbriaisbest · 04/09/2025 16:05

@Millytante ,naughty.

Aaargh….who stigmatises it?

I thought compassionately sharing news about her illness was a fabulous thing to do, in terms of support and reassurance, but a woman wearing a wig out of medical necessity has umpteen famous faces (not to mention wigs’ considerable cultural representation in British society) whose choices can assure her she’s not that unusual, doesn’t stand out etc.
Expecting the PoW to add her bit, should she have one, therefore seems to me really gratuitously intrusive. Were she a very rare example of a famous face wearing a wig, then maybe. But this is not a rare phenomenon at all!

It’s women selfishly wanting a bit of her, I reckon, and it’s rotten.

Strzyga · 04/09/2025 16:07

Batstink · 04/09/2025 13:40

Whatever it is, she really is a bona fide stunner. A real class act.

She is very beautiful.

I dont like the hair, I think it looks wrong, but she's still stunning.

My2cents1975 · 04/09/2025 16:07

Catherine was out and about for Early Years. She was dressed appropriately for the event and carried herself well.

The focus on her hair is opposition research from the usual suspects, and the OP is in a certain camp. The faux sympathy is nauseating...denigrating someone's appearance while claiming to feel so sorry for them!

But all the denigration in the world will not bump up someone's show into the top 100 and will not prevent Catherine from being eventually crowned Queen.

"Them's the breaks" as they say!

Maybe you're right about people wanting to know too much about her. Me personally I'm not really interested, just in general I like to know if a famous person has a wig on. As their image is part of their whole interest to the public.

Yes I do understand that lots of people are too lazy to call people by their correct name. And I think we’d recognise her from the photo anyway… And what’s this about how people in Europe ( Uk is in Europe by the way) used to pronounce “ Lady Di” got to do with the price of fish?!

What is her correct name? It's not the Princess of Wales, that's a title. And as far as I'm aware nobody has ever announced what her married name is, or if she even has one. Could be Windsor, Mountbatten-Windsor, Wales etc. If she never officially took a married name, only acquired a title that lots of us have no interest in using then her name remains Middleton.

Spoilsport. Defiantly a wig.

😂😂😂

sundayfundayclub · 04/09/2025 16:11

It's very voluminous which drowns her imo.

MzHz · 04/09/2025 16:13
  1. who cares, it’s a hairdo
  2. its Daily Mail. Stop supporting these pricks who are destroying our country with their vile lies and click bait. You’re embarrassing yourself by showing that you read this tripe.
Delphigirl · 04/09/2025 16:14

She has been wearing wigs and hairpieces for years. You can tell that from eg the photos of her ski holiday earlier this year where she had perfectly fine but much less voluminous hair.
surprised anyone thinks her huge bouffy styles are all her real hair actually.

sundayfundayclub · 04/09/2025 16:15

I'm not slagging kate off because I love her, but i come from a country where only young girls have hair like this and I feel that this kind of "princess hair" coupled witj the lighter shade actually looks ageing

I realise this is a UK thing though

@Dragonflydancer do you mean ageing princess hair is popular in the UK?
