If we're talking about what William "might be persuaded to do" it's worth remembering it didn't work with the Princes Trust, which was one of Charles's better initiatives

Everyone expected William to take it over one day and Charles may well have done too, but it seems his son has no intention of that

Profhilodisaster · 16/07/2025 18:20

I do feel that William is pretty determined to do things his way, a small gesture but he didn't wear the Windsor uniform at the state banquet, so hopefully, if Charles does put pressure on him to reconcile and he doesn't want to , he stands strong.

And keeping it as The King's Trust was probably a better idea. I can't see Charles giving it to anyone else completely and i can't see William being content with sharing it with his father. It was Charles' baby from the beginning and it's right that it stays with him.

I honestly think that William would “abdicate” from the monarchy before he would agree to allow Harry (and particularly Meghan) back into the family or as official royals.

I know I would!

I don't think that was William's decision. That Trust has been incredible, and helped so many. Charles set it up in 1977 and wants to continue his work with it.

Mysterian · 16/07/2025 18:54

I think Charles and Camilla should have another couple of children to piss Harry off.

CatKings · 16/07/2025 19:13

I just don’t believe it will happen. I don’t believe that M will step foot in the U.K. again and neither will her children. She knows she won’t get a warm welcome regardless of what KC does.
i think we just have many years ahead of them being embarrassing/trying to get money.

RandyRedHumpback · 16/07/2025 19:14

Apparently Sussex friendly journey, Charlotte Griffiths, the MoS reporter who broke the story of the meeting, was tipped off about it the week before. When asked by GB news how she came across the story, she says:

" Here we are at the beginning of the end of the feud. That's all I can say. I never thought I would say these words on your show. What my sources were telling me, what they were telling me all week, was look out because a big meeting's coming and the meeting is significant. Although they didn't have a specific agenda, very much rapprochement was on the cards...that was the word on the lips of my sources, that's all we're after. It's getting the conversation going again between these two warring sides, opening the lines of communication and the very first step on the pathway towards the end of the feud."

I think we can be pretty clear where the leak has come from.

kirinm · 16/07/2025 19:37

Would love it to happen. Would annoy all of the right people.

LadyJaneGrey18 · 16/07/2025 19:38

My instinct is that M and H are trying to force C’s hand. So give an interview about how much H longs for reconciliation if only his churlish father would play along. Then feed info to a few chosen sources that there’s a Big Meeting coming up that’s all about reconciliation. Even if the meeting is a very tentative dipping a toe in the water with other things on the agenda. I just don’t trust anything that comes from them, and it does seem that it comes from them.

Edited

There aren’t two warring sides. All the attacks have come from one side.

I'd be interested if those who think William should just make peace would put their own children/ grandchildren/ nieces and nephews in a position that their privacy could be violated at any time. Bearing in mind for most people this would be at a family and community level whereas for William this is a global audience. Personally I have protected my children from their piss taking uncle, who only social skills is to humiliate others.

Mostly the people on these threads tbh.

The whole board is so easily angered by H&M and some on here have already claimed (on behalf of everyone apparently) that the Great British public simply will not accept a reconciliation. Hilarious.

I think this is a very important point.

Advice on Mumsnet is usually to protect children from adults in the family who show behaviours which are harmful.

Weepixie · 16/07/2025 20:07

@Serenster - many thanks for taking the time to explain the geography of the meeting.

And many thanks to @bluegreygreen for also taking the time to explain.

I’m sure I read Charles was disappointed the William didn’t want to take it on, I wonder who will take it on after Charles?

“Easily angered”

😂 Here we go…

Charlotte Griffiths again, she’s certainly shaking her pom poms for Harry, give me an H……..

CathyorClaire · 16/07/2025 20:31

whatever Charles is up to must centre the long term strategy of protecting the Crown and allowing William's reign to be free of all the previous generations' fuck ups with Harry.

I think C would be open to reconciling with his darling boy purely as a parent and especially in view of his illness but other than that he's weak and notoriously conflict averse ('Don't make my final years a misery, boys')

I don't think he has any strategy for either Harold or Andrew other than kicking the balls down the road for W to deal with.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 16/07/2025 20:35

I think you are bang on there @CathyorClaire

OlympicWomen · 16/07/2025 20:37

He's got to pay for all his vexatious lawsuits. He needs the Bank of Pa. He went down the route of trash/gossip, but needs a long term steady income. Royal Family can provide that. He thinks, more so than his wife's pancake mix.

OlympicWomen · 16/07/2025 20:39

I hope he reconciles with his father, for both their sakes, this has been such a terrible thing. Harry has a lot of self reflection to do, though. It's not ok just to want money.

OlympicWomen · 16/07/2025 20:45
