Let’s hope so. Harry is very bored and very mentally unwell is my view. He’s desperate to be let back in the fold but only for purely selfish reasons. He’ll never be allowed to represent the RF in any capacity again. I also think the scandals and controversy surrounding African Parks and Sentabale have left him without much that allows him to claim to be a ‘humanitarian’ , so he’s casting about for other things to make him look more relevant. The two of them are in free fall.

Yes some people still think the king ( or queen) has more power than they do ( just like Harry) , Charles can ask ( I doubt it myself) but ultimately the government decides if harry can have an official role in the country again , all Charles can unilaterally offer him is a place in the private family.

I don’t think Harry can (and I really hope I’m right!) have any official role. He’s proved he’s a security liability and can’t be trusted with royal or diplomatic duties. He’s insulted KC and others personally and denigrated the monarchy and the Commonwealth as institutions. I don’t know what he might be good for…er…I’m sure I’ll think of something….

(Crosses fingers hard)

Court jester? He can put those juggling skills to good use.

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/07/2025 07:24

I don't see the Foreign Office making the mistake of sending a disgruntled, entitled spare out to represent the country again.

Facebook this morning had a Times article with Harry in the minefield. The comments were overwhelming negative, some were quite funny though. Is there any evidence that bringing Harry back at this point would be helpful for anyone?

Not only can he not be trusted but he's just not popular enough.

Yes ! I forget which one now ( it’s early!) , although I don’t think they did many .

To all those raising the possibility of H conducting foreign tours, can I just remind you of what a disaster his last foreign tour was. He and his wife announced she was suing a British newspaper in the middle of the tour. He also gave a whiney interview about how he and his brother were on ‘different paths’. Royals do these tours to highlight things that the FO want or to strengthen ties with the country not for the royals to cause distractions with personal issues. Let’s not forget he also hates the British media. He’s not at all suitable.

JoanChitty · 16/07/2025 08:08

Quite simply the peevish prince and his Temu duchess are neither use nor ornament.

Ohpleeeease · 16/07/2025 08:08

I would have said the same but the fact that this meeting took place at all is concerning.

What I’m hoping is that the meeting was requested from the Sussex side, and Tobyn Andreae naively thought that arranging it at his own private club offered greater security than a phone or zoom meeting which might be recorded and leaked.

The fact that it has still been leaked shows there is no progress in terms of H and MM’s attitude or behaviour.

The worst case scenario, which is what I was considering in my earlier post, is that BP are flying a kite to see if a soft re-entry would be accepted by the public, and what terms Harry would agree with that might also serve the interests of the RF.

Oh, I love that expression: dm used it a lot. I will endeavour to use it today… perhaps about dh…..

I think it was the Australia tour.

MaturingCheeseball · 16/07/2025 09:40

Wait a minute - re the Angelina Jolie stuff - is Harry paid for Halo and even Invictus?

I have read that there was a kerfuffle over the cost of Meghan’s Invictus wardrobe (a bill which was picked up by Netflix in the end) but for Harry to get remuneration is surely unacceptable whilst strutting round as Prince Harry in his role of “service” ?

By all accounts and the pictures that have been posted on x (🙄) , this isn’t the same as his previous visits , it’s a group visit, so Harry is part of the halo team!
no red carpet this time.

I think King Charles might agree to the half in/half out they desired.

Why on earth would he?

I think if Harry would agree to do some tours on his own, in return for money and security, everyone might be persuaded.

Why would they be?

Anyway, it's not up to H or the King. The RF undertake official foreign visits at the behest of the government.

'I think King Charles might agree to the half in/half out they desired.
Why on earth would he?'

So many reasons, I think. He is his son, KC would want to leave this earth not worrying about H and the relationship between his sons. Also, knowing that Harry has his family and the security and protection of the RF ad all that involves around him. All of that could take a long time.

jeffgoldblum · 16/07/2025 09:53

Here I can’t link , so screenshot!
first picture was his previous visit while still a working royal . Second picture is this visit , as part of the halo group.

No - it would never be allowed - it wouldn't be up to KC alone. Because security, confidentiality, trust, decorum, dignity, credibility. All gone for Harry.

But also - KC and Camilla have been vilified by H & M, and he's seen his heir, William and his brave, poorly wife, Catherine, absolutely taken apart by them, and by their attack dogs in the SS. I think the strain shows on William's face and frankly, if I was William and Charles agreed to a half-in, half-out arrangement, I'd throw in the towel and go and live a private, comfortable life in the country with my kids, like the Middletons.

Harry is not important to anyone now except to Charles as a father. It's on that private, very limited basis only that I think there can be any rapprochement.

And - was it the Australia tour where Meghan created a stink with the Governor General's wife about the accommodation she was given?

That woman and her dim consort are capable of (and have already caused) untold damage to the UK's reputation overseas.

It doesn’t say in the article that Harry is paid but it mentions that all 3 charities that Harry is prominently involved in pay their trustees, so I would say there is an implication that Harry is paid?

Edited

Yes , very murky as usual isn’t it!
as usual with Harry’s charity involvement, it’s all very vague, with plenty of plausible deniability, should the truth or proof ever appear!
I can hear the excuse now should it come to light!
“ Harry never said he wasn’t being paid ! , that was the British media who said that!”
