Archie and Lili, in the future?

Just musing, but once they get to adult age, would Harry's kids not be able to travel to the UK independently and meet up with their cousins/ rest of family if they want to? Do you think the UK cousins, and I'm including Zara's kids here, would want to meet them?

I hope Archie/Lili doesn’t end up being President of the US or we’re for it!!

Under current rules Archie can't, can he? Don't you have to be US born?

If they visit Eugenie in Portugal would he get security for the family?

Would depend on what the Portuguese feel like providing, and paying for. Or they can pay for private security as they do at home in the US. (Though one wonders where it was during the 'near catastrophic car chase' in NY.)

It's quite a distant relationship. The Wales children are their cousins. Zara's children (and Eugenie, Beatrice, Peter) children are their second cousins. How many of us have close relationships with children of our parents' cousins? I don't even have a close relationship with my first cousins, mainly because they are all 15-20 years older than I am and we grew up in different places.

Also they will have cousins on their mother's side who are geographically much closer.

Is Megan now back on speakies with her own family?

Why is it weird, especially as they're the Royal Family? Imagine growing up knowing you could have grown up never having to worry about money, having all sorts of unique opportunities and all of these family members but your parents decided to burn all of the bridges; they're also being posted on social media now so it's likely they'll end up being exposed to the world's media and 'known' with none of the upsides.

You think they’ll grow up worrying about money? That’s fucking comical.

pilates · 04/05/2025 13:44

Out of natural curiosity I believe A & L will want to meet their British family when they’re older. Rebellious teenagers and wanting to piss off their parents. Maybe all the cousins will have a great relationship who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cyclingandrunning · 04/05/2025 13:44

Families do lose touch with each other. I've moved away (only a 3 hours drive away though) and I can't remember when I last saw my 2nd cousins.

Infact, I did a ancestry dna test and I have some 2nd cousins - I had no idea about!

What I would miss though is aunts/uncles and grandparents.

fallings out are rarely one sided ?
This isn't a "falling out". This is a man who has spent 5 years being negative, critical and accusatory about his family. For the clicks and headlines, and for the money. It's not a difference of opinion of who won at Cluedo that time in Balmoral.
Harry has been cruel and he has been vile. That Anne was so gracious was heartening.

Agreed and falling outs are often very one sided.

One side: unreasonable, me, me me demanding, no empathy, rude even
Other side: normal, polite, trying to do their best

I think the two likely outcomes for them are:

a) parents divorce, they make glancing visits to the UK to see Harry who has returned and is living tail-between-legs like Andrew;

or

b) Archie and Lili hit their late teens/early twenties and one or both fall out with their parents dramatically and publicly.

I definitely think A is a possibility.
Not so sure about B but there again...nothing would surprise me.

I certainly don't think A&L will have much of a relationship with their cousins or second cousins while there is so much distrust with H&M. The Sussexs will be kept at arms lenght.

Especially if it means that William needs George to become a working Royal while he's still only in his 20s.

Harry waltzing off has really left William without much support from his own generation.

If you lived on a different continent to your dad’s cousins kids and never met them would you go seek them out? Weird

I have cousins who did. They built a relationship of their own with lots of our family. They wanted to meet us.

JSMill · 04/05/2025 14:33

A and L may very well want to know more about their British culture and royal history. My dh is from the Middle East and as my dd is getting older, she is getting more and more interested in that part of her because having a mixed heritage her more interesting than her friends, in her opinion!

Lifestooshort71 · 04/05/2025 14:35

It could depend on whether they end up into the celebrity-socialite scene. I can see them bumping into their UK cousins/2nd cousins at posh parties in London or being snapped by the paps coming out of nightclubs. There's no reason why they won't be globe trotters (nor any reason for them to have taxpayer-funded security).

IndigoViolent · 04/05/2025 14:56

I think they could try and contact them on social media, with or without their parents knowing, rather than travelling to the UK

Yeah, I can just see the heirs to the throne being all over Facebook. “Georgie Windsor was at Nando’s with Mia Tinds and Augie Brooksbank - nom nom!”

Or Charlotte tagging herself at Slough A&E - “Here we go again 😞”
Lena Tindall: OMG what’s happened hun?!
Charlotte: Will inbox u babez xxx

Or they could choose to come and study in the UK and meet their cousins at university events.

In English terms, Prince Louis and Lucas Tindall are the school year above Archie. Eugenie's elder son is in the same year as Lili. Beatrice's elder daughter is in the year below. They're all very close in age and could easily all be students at the sae time.

Do you mean Lena Tindall, Lucas is 4 so above Lilibet.

Surely not because Mr Markle and his wife will have poisoned those kids against the rf and their relatives by then. They will twist the narrative like they always do and paint themselves as the victims.

Or they might have read about their weird pervert of a great uncle and the alleged pegging obsession of their uncle and realise their granddad didn't keep in touch. They might read all the horrible racist posts about their mother and grandmother. They then might be thinking "You know what I might just skip that bit of the family and ignore being half British".

HonoriaBulstrode · 04/05/2025 15:17

Probably! Whichever one Zara was expecting at H&M's wedding - I remember she was expecting because of how uncomfortable she looked!

Then again, they might read the truth.

Or President Meghan who then gets to go on a state visit to the UK to be met by King William and Queen Catherine who have to put out the red carpet for her and Harry. Revenge is a dish best srved cold !

Serenster · 04/05/2025 16:19

Meghan said in her latest podcast though that she would never run for public office. So that’s unlikely.

Yes, I suppose it depends on what they're told by Harry, but would you want to slag off the uncle and grandad to the kids, or keep it neutral? And they'll probably be able to read stuff online soon enough. Totally different to normal families where rifts occur and sometimes the next generation are in the dark about what really happened.

Well they've slagged them off to the whole world so why not to their children. Everything they read online will let them know exactly how their Dad feels about his close relatives in the UK.

Serenster · 04/05/2025 16:19

Quite. She's hardly got the temperament, ability or skill base.
I think the Trad Wife/influencer thing is more her bag.

Words · 04/05/2025 16:25

Lili. Every time I see it written down I wince. Lilibet is monstrously disrespectful.

Needspaceforlego · 04/05/2025 16:28

It will take two side to want to make a relationship work.
A lot depends on how H&M are behaving in 10 years time, if they are still estranged and not trusted. Then the kids will be kept at arms length.

10 years time there is a reasonable chance William will be King.
So there is a good chance the families will have mingled at Funeral and Coronation.
