It's not good news for Meghan. The podcast by Meghan is out of the Spotify 100 in the US and the UK. With Apple it's not even in the top 200 chart.

If Netflix renew their contract with H&M I would be shocked to my core

You and me both, @Elessar, but wasn't it said that the second series of the "Meghan in the kitchen" thingy had already been filmed for release later this year?

Maybe I've got that wrong though and it wasn't for Netflix ...

It was filmed with the first series. So wasn’t renewed as such, just filmed in two parts from the beginning. I suppose like some series have seasons that are released in two halves on Netflix - I’m not sure how they decide what is a seasons in two halves, and what is just two seasons.

Ah, thanks @JoyousEagle - that makes sense Smile

Yes I think that will be the “final hurrah” so to speak - I’m sure it will come out shortly before the contract officially ends and then that will be that.

The only reason I could see Netflix even considering retaining a relationship with H&M is if they were promised some sort of “at home with the Sussexes” reality show - but I don’t think even Meghan is that desperate, yet.

Profhilodisaster · 13/05/2025 05:15

I wonder what's happening with the Netflix shop thing , I haven't heard any mention of that recently.

CatsWhiskerz · 13/05/2025 05:49

I watched episode 1 and part of the Mindy Kalling one after seeing the “I’m Meghan Sussex now” furore. But it was so booooooring. Not particularly funny even. Just duuuulllll. If something is unintentionally laugh-out-loud funny then keep it going, or if it had more fly-on-the-wall aspects (but it wasn’t even in her house!) but the programme was just a big yawn fest.

Absolutely, but then I think everything MM does is literally to get messages about her out on air / in print, so being boring is just the result of her talking about herself because she's boring, and she's always turning lies into' her story'- our love story ... we're so in love ... honeymoon period... in Sussex now ... as a mother ... as a business woman ... it's all fake so very boring

They sold all the stock they had, didn't they? So nothing to report.

They said it will be “seasonal releases”, so I would imagine that when the next series comes out in autumn(?), there will be some new stock based on the autumn/thanksgiving stuff she will presumably do in those episodes.

Edited

But if the “second” series turns out to be the final one, how is the merch ever going to make any money if it is a limited, seasonal release 🤔🤷‍♀️

Mylovelygreendress · 13/05/2025 07:54

Is it usual for a new business to sell out in an hour and over a month later still haven’t restocked ? I honestly don’t understand but maybe I am missing something thing ?

Ellmau · 13/05/2025 07:55

It's not a serious business, clearly.

For normal start ups, a very common cause of failure is their lack of ability to scale up to meet demand if they are suddenly very popular. So no, not in general. But this is obviously not a normal start up - they would have anticipated lots of demand and have big, well-known partnerships to deal with fulfilment logistics. Plus the products are not small and artisan produced. So it looks chaotic, unless the idea is that all “drops” are strictly limited editions? Could be that - but that won’t make that much money, comparatively.

Mylovelygreendress · 13/05/2025 08:02

Thanks @Serenster , that makes sense but
I thought the idea was to become a billionaire 🤷‍♀️

RandyRedHumpback · 13/05/2025 08:19

To me, the product stuff is the usual MM game of wanting to be everything and not picking a lane. She's trying to keep up the facade that her products are small scale/artisan/made by her own hand/exclusive/special a la the stuff Flamingo Estate produces in conjunction with the likes of Julianna Moore, who keeps her own bees and sells jars of honey through them at £250 a pot (and people will buy them, because she's a genuine star).

But then MM also is doing the very hackneyed Kardashian trick that they did with their lines of tat - "selling out" in minutes to whip up a frenzy of demand for the next line, but you never know what selling out actually entails.

And finally, she's hanging around with billionaires who earned their big, big money selling their carefully developed product lines to huge mass producers, and I think that's what MM wants to do too - sell the brand name "As Ever" and her image for a billion to someone else who will then do all the actual hard work. I think she's dreaming, but I think that's what she wants. But what she can't do is admit that she's selling jars of generic mass produced crap in the first place that could easily be replenished by her putting in another order to whoever is making it. She needs to keep up the facade of exclusivity to whip up demand.

Someone was saying that it's really unusual that none of her products or even the packaging has ended up on Ebay. You'd have thought that, if she did sell thousands of units, and if there was this massive demand for her stuff, then at least one purchaser would be wanting to make a mint selling it on, and people would be clamouring to pay over the odds for it on auction sites.

Uricon2 · 13/05/2025 10:15

Quite. I bought my DH the Waitrose pistachio Easter egg when first came out last year. When I saw the (ridiculous) £££ it was going for on Ebay a little later I sort of regretted him eating it.

It's like As Ever has sunk without trace and if there had been a genuine buzz, there would be resale demand.

To be honest, I assume the idea is to have very limited releases. These products cannot be difficult to restock if they wanted to.

Not normal in my very limited experience.

And tbh, most of the items should be pretty easy and quick to restock. We're not talking artisanal, bespoke goods. Shortbread, crepe mixes and raspberry spread and basic recipe teas. Should've have had another at least few hundreds of not thousand units ready to go by now.

Edit - cross posted with others

He didn't even understand the Letters Patent which affected their own children! He has no idea about security decisions, no idea what RAVEC does, and she seemingly didn't know anything about UK culture or traditions.
Extraordinary.

He is completely without curiosity, and presumably married someone similar (because like attracts like in that respect).
If they were pleasant people they could have easily been a nice-but-dim countryside couple, liked by all, who cheerfully opened the local village fetes and judged the, ahem, jam competitions.
Unfortunately for everyone, they are not.

Meghan is obvs intelligent & articulate but these podcasts seem banal, repetitive, phony & vacuous. This surprises me.

What makes you think she’s articulate? Or intelligent, come to that?

North Western doesn’t admit dimbos & listening to her she’s more articulate than most.

To be fair to MM. And here is something I have vicarious experience of. It is not unusual for little / start up companies to be bought out. & this is somewhat the dream. I know more about it from software companies , where you actually have to have a good product & a bigger company wants your product to bring into the fold. But where this is not similar to MM is that the product has to be good. Also typically there will be VC funding so before you get your cut , all the investors will get theirs. . So I can see that if someone ( whoever the hair person was ) , has a product in great demand from A listers - I could see a big company possibly buying her out. Now , if MM has invested in companies who stand to be bought out , that may be quite smart because she will get a cut. The problem is , that a lot of buyouts, unless you invented the company or have a massive holding in it tend to be car changing money not life changing money. If she wants "As Ever" to be bought out then either she needs the glamour of "DoS" which will bring automatic customers , or she has products which someone thinks they can make something of , either quicker and cheaper. At the moment , and I stress I am talking about software companies , I am not sure the buyouts are going to be in the billions , more like $10s of millions , even for the woman who has the hair products. But not my area of expertise.

I'd be interested to know more from those who know more. Isn't the famous one the chap who invested a modest amount in the Bodyshop in the early days and did end up being worth a fortune.
