Thread after thread of pulling apart Harry and Meghan. 0.1% discussing what Andrew did?

What is going on with MN?

What would you like to say about him?

NewAgeNewMe · 02/04/2025 07:54

What is there to say about Andrew? He’s done and until this new book is out nothing more to add. Except that the Queen was wrong to support him so openly. Paid his legal fees and settlement costs ok, I’d have probably done the same. (EDIT: For my DCs.)

Allowed him to escort her anywhere? No.

If he hadn’t have given that interview he’d probably still be in the background hovering more openly. Good thing he did.

Samcro · 02/04/2025 07:55

I think its because people enjoy it. there is no fun in PA as he is just awful.
but they can pretend that they are just gossiping and criticising H&M whilst ripping them apart.
they are the wales equivalent to the sussex squad but don't see it.
even this thread will turn into a H&M bashing thread.

Racism & English exceptionalism. It’s as simple as that. They are so invested in their royal families that they excuse anything even paedophilia

Could you link to people supporting paedophia on here please. I think I must have missed it

lavenderlou · 02/04/2025 07:58

There have been loads of threads about Andrew's awful behaviour. There wouldn't be a thread about him currently as he is lying very low and there is nothing new to discuss. There is lots of discussion about H&M because there is a current, ongoing row about Sentabale which shows both H&M in a not very good light. It's quite possible to not like Andrew and but not feel it necessary to mention him on a thread about something he has no involvement in.

Rich and powerful man takes advantage of young female.

Vs

Newly married couple try to take down 1,000 year old institution which represents numerous countries by accusing it of racism and mental cruelty, while cashing in on the fame it gave them.

Is it really any wonder one of these scenarios gives us more to talk about than the other?

And, in the scenarios above, one tries to or is forced to keep a low profile and the other lives and breathes drama.

This comment sums up how people see it.

“Rich and powerful man takes advantage of young female”, instead of “Rich and powerful man abuses a sex-trafficked teenager. His mother, the monarch, paid a fortune to make these allegations disappear”.

People hate H & M because they believe their behaviour is ‘common’, which is worse than being a sex abuser in the eyes of the lickspittles.

That's not what I was saying. My point was that men behaving as Andrew did/does is a story as old as time itself. Welcome to the patriarchy! It's horrible but it's everywhere.

Meghan and Harry are a novelty. They give us lots to talk about and debate.

The question the OP asked was: why aren't there loads of Andrew threads compared to the many about H & M? OP didn't ask us to weigh up the morality of the two options. If (s)he had, I would have said that in my opinion Andrew is worse. H & M are simply more interesting.

He's white and so they focus on H&M.

Oh please

I think it’s jealousy. H&M left and are doing well. We see pictures of them looking beautiful and engaged with the world around them, American style. Andrew is fat, pasty, and angry faced in every picture, riding some poor horse in dreadful weather.

Jealous of what exactly?

Do you not think it is because H and M are such a divisive couple whereas 99 % of people find A thoroughly obnoxious, arrogant etc ?
It wouldn’t be much of a discussion would it ?
A thread about A :

Poster 1 - isn’t A awful ?
Poster 2- I agree .
Poster3 - me too.

Munnygirl · 02/04/2025 08:14

I know.
Fascinating that people who scream racism fail to see they are being so racist themselves.
Suppose they thik it's an easy way to shut down any comments.

Mightymoog · 02/04/2025 08:21

I think we all agree he's awful but we should allow @modeoftransport the floor to tell us what they want to say about him.

Vespanest · 02/04/2025 08:22

OneRainyNight · 02/04/2025 01:12

A dickhead? That’s certainly minimising his actions right there.

It only minimising if you judge my language as a standard of your own interpretation. I have a very high bar before I would call anyone a dickhead.

We also forget to mention the late Queen’s role as an enabler and apologist for Andrew. She has paid something like 12 million dollars to bail out a paedophile and secure the victims silence. Shame on her!

Where is there any evidence that Andrew was after prepubescent children?

Samcro · 02/04/2025 08:52

@Mylovelygreendress where is the discussion? anyone who has a different opinion is swiftly rounded on. so its just the same people talking about the same stuff on repeat.

Almostwelsh · 02/04/2025 08:57

H&M are in the press a lot more than Andrew. So there is more to talk about. Meghan is a pretty woman. Pretty women sell newspapers, whether the story is positive or not, as Harry's mother did before her. Hence she gets more press exposure than a 60 something disgraced prince, so there is more to talk about.

ADifferentSong · 02/04/2025 08:59

is outrage when he puts his head above the parapet. But I don’t think he does that very much these days. There’ll be outrage again when he does.

There isn't. People love to throw the word paedophile around without realising what it actually means.

No one is excusing paedophilia. Any excuse for a bit of xenophobia eh?

SunshineAndFizz · 02/04/2025 09:07

I’m not a huge fan of H&M but I completely agree with this point. Prince Andrew has done far worse than launch a cookery show.

Who has claimed that he hasn't? Is anyone at all sticking up for him? Has he been in the public eye recently with anything new to warrant talking about him? I doubt you'll find anyone sticking up for him or saying how great he is, when someone is universally disliked you don't tend to get as much chatter as he's gross yea I agree isn't as interesting as discussions with differing viewpoints.

Tomatotater · 02/04/2025 09:13

HeddaGarbled · 02/04/2025 00:56

There’s outrage enough when he tries to muscle his way into public events but Charles seems to be doing a pretty good job of keeping him contained. I wonder whether this weird stuff about Virginia Giuffre will reanimate the debate.

For 5 minutes whereas people are still banging on about the Oprah interview 5 years later, and how many pages did the thread on Meghan's TV show in which she mentioned the Royals zero times run to?
There is plenty to talk about re Andrew precisely because he is still being protected. How has he suddenly got enough money to stay in his massive house? Why are the papers in relation to all his dodgy dealings with potential spies suddenly gone away? Why is everything to do with his time as a trade envoy being kept secret? He is protected because he hasn't aired his dirty laundry in public. If writing a book moaning about your own family and your own experience in your family is going to bring your family into more disrepute than a member of that family associating with paedophies and spies and somehow squirrelling away bushel loads of cash in ways no one knows about then that family and the people supporting them need to look at their priorities. Apparently the Royals war gamed a potential 100 things Harry could say in his book! That's a lot of secrets they don' t want out there. I'm presuming much of that wasn't said in the book at all. The weird Virginai Guiffre thing is bringing a lot of victim blamers out of the woodwork too, so why do people think hes a dickhead? For lying on TV or for associating with paedophiles and potentially sleeping with very young girls?

Yes, me too. I'm sure that's against talk guidelines.
