Thread after thread of pulling apart Harry and Meghan. 0.1% discussing what Andrew did?

What is going on with MN?

Probably because Andrew is old news and has stayed away from the thin since the scandal whereas Harry and Meghan create new scandals constantly. People are allowed to have a time limit on their outrage.

It's more than nasty, I think it is actually pretty unhinged and also libellous. If I were Mumsnet I wouldn't allow it. It at the very least reflects badly on MN.

Totally agree. It’s bonkers.

PoppysAunt · 03/04/2025 20:52

There is no such thing as "the press". There are many different news and media outlets in the UK, owned by different people.
They have different editorial policies.
I think Harry's paranoia about the "British press" (sic) seems to have caught on with some people.
If you've ever read the Independent or the Guardian you would perhaps understand a different approach.
What is interesting to me is how H&M are now feeding to the Daily Mail, through their friend, Bryony Gordon. Such flattering articles.

I was being deliberately vague.

I think Camilla has some interesting contacts.

How is a netflix show about food etc a scandal? How is having an online shop of products people can buy a scandal? How is wearing 100% linen which will always crease when you site down a scandal?

How are these examples scandals that justify the nasty comments made like why doesn't she iron her clothes, look how low she has fallen to be selling jam. Her show is awful and so on.

Why would you be outraged about someone's netflix show that is around food

BigWillyLittleTodger · 03/04/2025 21:12

Yes! I couldn’t agree more!
It’s obvious that the main players have a protective quid pro quo deal going on with the press… .*
And there’s a force field around the centres of established power that can rarely be breached*

Funny isn’t it that the ‘force field’ couldn’t control the worldwide media onslaught on Catherine over the Mother’s Day card fiasco and then the where is Kate worldwide hysteria where the narrative was she was dead, William had attacked her etc. etc. and which forced her hand to have to reveal to the world she had cancer, yes absolutely the RF control the press for sure.

I was anticipating this response.

This appalling situation arose because of an absence of input from BP so not quite comparable.

They thought that Catherine would be able to disappear for three months without comment.

She absolutely should have been able to do so and take her time in order to recover.

But poor Buckingham Palace PR in handling of the situation allowed the speculation to flourish.

The press were still reacting to BP lead or lack thereof.

Reetpetitenot · 04/04/2025 00:17

'They thought that Catherine would be able to disappear for three months without comment.'

She didn't 'disappear for 3 months without comment'. We were told she was dealing with a health issue and would be away from public duties for a few months. The Sussex Squad then went into overdrive with the rumour machine, suggesting William had beaten her to death and buried her under the patio, or divorced her and taken the kids, was using a Kate doppelganger, etc etc etc and eventually MSM got in on the act. The whole episode shone a very bright light on the way SM attack dogs behave, and it wasn't pretty.

No-one on these threads has behaved in a remotely similar way. Meghan’s antics are hilarious and cringe making in fairly equal measure, with largo dollop of pretty awful behaviour thrown in for good measure.

Eh??

Where did I say a Netflix show was a scandal?! Confused what on earth made you jump to that conclusion?

Im talking about the racism, misogyny, bullying, dodgy dealings with a charity, grifting, usurping other people’s positions, endless and blatant lying, selling family secrets for a quick buck…to name but a few. The fact you think I meant jam is very odd under. Or have you not heard of any of the above scandals?

I find any pile on of any sort despicable, so I do not disagree with the majority of your comments. The speculation over Catherine’s health was appalling.

Equally, I think that the sheer volume and nastiness on these threads directed at Meghan, do amount to bullying overall.

Andrew Lownie is about to publish a book about Andrew and Fergie. You can start a new thread when that happens.

I am very much looking forward to reading it.

AL is a very reputable author.

It must be challenging though, adding a new chapter of misdeeds every few months 😁

NewAgeNewMe · 04/04/2025 04:37

I’ve no doubt it will be an excellent book. Andrew must be dreading it 😀

Well, when she complains about press intrusion, negative press and unfavourable stories, I'll criticise her for her hypocrisy.

More interesting than the Sussexes using Omid Scobie or Bryony Gordon ? Or Harry emailing The People ?

You said they create scandals and thats why they are in the press alot, well recent press for meghan has been about her netflix show and on here multiple threads about it ...so I'm asking you about this specifically how it that a scandal? How does it warrant thousands of comments.

Samcro · 04/04/2025 08:06

what I find odd (today) is that we don't pay for them, yet if they earn money however they do it is wrong.
they don't pretend they just live in a 4 bedroom house with out staff, forgetting to mention all their other houses. so they need to earn money.

the SS and the bad time Kate had on here last year are used as an excuse to start 100's of threads to bash Meghan.
IMO its like mn has their own Wales sqad.

oh I do beg your pardon for not caveating it with “But not every last thing they do is scandalous”. I thought people on MN had half a brain and that went without saying. I was clearly wrong and it needed spelling out.

Many TV shows warrant thousands of comments.

But actually I do think the TV show is a bit scandalous because she delayed it under the guise of the LA wildfires but actually it was only ever a vehicle to flog her overpriced wares online, and she clearly delayed it because her “brand” wasn’t ready to sell yet.

Of course they cost us money. Lawyers, bills they run up, the endless hours taken up by RAVEC because of Harry’s tantrum, the press teams who’ll still have to field enquiries, the security when they come over - none of this is free

Plus, how did they get so rich in the first place?.
It wasn't because of Suits and Travelyst.

Exactly. It is what I have been saying on this thread, how does a fluffy Netflix series warrant seven threads of criticism. And now it's a scandal?
I must be very careful what I say here because I don't want to be banned 😅, but I do wonder what those that criticise her day in day out when she isn't doing anything controversial, I wonder what they actually would be pleased to hear about her.

Didn’t you know they’re poor poor people who need daddy to not “cut them off” lest they be so poor the ONLY way they can earn money is by airing their dirty laundry and throwing in a whole heap of lies to go with it

Loads of TV shows get criticised. Should we only ever have nice opinions about things?

Could you provide a definitive source for that please, and even if that was the case, so what?

This is the sort of criticism I am talking about.

You really think her TV show isn’t a vehicle to flog her wares? You really think it was delayed because of the wild fires?

Not everything needs evidence. It’s called common sense. She’s a blatant grifter, and this is just another obvious form of grifting.
