Thread after thread of pulling apart Harry and Meghan. 0.1% discussing what Andrew did?

What is going on with MN?

Plus call posters names as shown on this very thread.

Apologies @BigWillyLittleTodger, I had missed that!

Why do we not know much about them? Why is there a convention that Parliament cannot discuss the Royal Family, yet the Royal Family can get exemptions from legislation that then cannot be debated in Parliament because of this convention? If this stuff was allowed to be openly debated in Parliament, it would be known and we could have a discussion about it. Why does the press not ask those questions? The reason the press have been able to get away with minimal regulation is because they are meant to hold truth to power, but it seems they go so far, then the Royals throw them a shiny picture of some kids or a puff piece about something or other and they back off.
Harry is an entitled twat because he is a Royal, not despite it. They made him, just as they made Andrew, and Margaret, and Edward Viii and the rest of them. Because we have a system that says that we have a family at the head who are basically surrounded by sycophants who cater to their every whim at all times in return for a few visits to some charities They get overly praised for doing the bare minimum, and have an entire establishment working to protect their reputation. That's why you don't know about Andrews trade dealings in the Middle East. '

Great post. It's a travesty that the Monarchy can never be discussed in parliament. Those that table questions are told no. There is a Commons Bible called Erskine May. If an MP ever asks a question about the Monarch or the Royal family they get this 'bible' thrown at them (not literally!) The subject is off limits so this means they can do exactly what they want without question. Unbelievable.

The behaviour of Andrew has never been questioned in the Commons, only his family can 'police' him, and they'd rather thrown money at him, pretend to evict him from his gargantuan royal estate, and keep him quiet by allowing him to do his own thing. However, given half the chance, he'd be out there pontificating, like he led them all into some memorial service not long ago. He doesn't keep his 'head down' by choice.

No doubt there will be more to follow!

TulipTiptoer · 02/04/2025 16:04

They would have to spend far less time on PR if they just behaved themselves

They are incapable. They are a dysfunctional family after all. They have to be. Most of them get divorced, have affairs, children outside of marriage (yes, Anne's ex husband did whilst married to her), and their prime modus operandi is to keep all the mucky stuff from the public.

Disclaimer.... they are dysfunctional because it is an archaic system in all sorts of ways.

Adding two letters missed!

Do you regularly get called a racist, a bully, unhinged, deranged and obsessive then?

if that has happened to you, report it.

It's got completely out of hand on Mumsnet about H&M. I don't know why mumsnet don't set up a forum purely for knocking the couple and delete all new threads about them. Usually 4 threads with the same old posters bringing up the same old stuff and outdoing each other for new forms of insults and sneers about the couple to make each other laugh. Does anyone remember the cheese threads?
It's like that. An old boys network at the golf club pontificating about how awful the world is (with Meghan in it haha)
(It's not just me that thinks this, so so many posters avoid the RF threads and say so out away from the royal board)

Andrew has done far far more damage to the Monarchy than a couple who have left. So... she wants to be fancy with fruit on a plate and make jam. So what? Is that any reason to criticise every word, every look, every bit of her clothes, her face, her make up, her teeth ... it's bizarre and gone too far.

But on the positive side... the posters who loathe her are keeping her publicity going by spending their lives searching for negativity and contributing to her exposure, so we should be grateful.

Andrew has done awful things for the last three decades, so much, he has taken the public for a ride in the most grotesque way and operates under the protection from Charles, all the wider family and his late mother before this. That is why there isn't so many threads on him, he has protection, bit like the mafia 😂

Edited for grammar

Very well said! I could not agree more!

To be fair to Mumsnet HQ, the royal threads are a source of clicks and much needed revenue, but I really think allowing so many negative threads to stand that are full of hostility towards a mother of young dc, on a site which is meant to be supportive of mothers with young dc, is not a terribly good look!

So William, while widely being criticized on MN for laziness, has secretly been running a multi-year campaign to discredit his younger brother, Including the imbedding of SC in Sentebale back in the early 2000's, bringing her back c. 2023, etc.

If so, he's brilliant with a genius ability at long-term planning. He will make a great king! Go, William, go!

Don’t forget he studied at the school of Carole Middleton.

She who was able to train her daughter to be the perfect princess, get her into St Andrews, get a future King to fall in love with her, marry her and thereby infiltrate the royal family.

She was wasted at Party Pieces - MI5 would have been her jam.

Apparently so, which rules out the Kardashians and most of the Cabinet. Who knew.

PoppysAunt · 02/04/2025 16:35

Also, Rachel Reeves and Kemi Badenoch are the mothers of young children, @Itsbeenlabelledhasntit , do you think there should be no criticism of them on here? Because there has been plenty.

SoNotaRealHousewife · 02/04/2025 16:37

@PoppysAuntSurely in this age of equality we need to consider the fathers of young children? Best we never discuss Boris Johnstone of Elon musk. How young is young, is there a sliding scale? You have a 2 year old and nothing is mentioned but have a 17 year old and the baseball bats are out?

Absolutely! So you don't get criticised if you are a parent at all! Sounds fine to me.

It appears that whatever side of the fence you are on or even sitting on regarding Harry and Meghan there are very few who have anything to actually say about Andrew directly even on a thread about asking why no one is talking about Andrew. Those who have it's to gateway to an adjoining topic. Is it time to say "what about Andrew" in the thread?

Why do you are so much about Andrew? He’s not in the public eye anymore nor courting media attention.

I am responding to a thread about Andrew. It asks where is the outrage about his behaviour. I have answered in all sorts of ways

I don't think you can come on here and criticise posters who talk of Andrew given the thread title. It smacks of wanting to shut down criticism of him. It's not about 'caring'.

That is not how this thread has spoken about Andrew at all. It’s kind of puzzling how you would see that
