I don’t think (the Sentebale situation) will embolden anyone I’m afraid, they will see how SC has been treated by the media, bullied by Harry and his flying monkeys, bullied online by the squad so much so she has had to close down her X account and therefore they could be absolutely terrified of receiving the same treatment themselves

But what's the takeaway here, @BigWillyLittleTodger - "best not say anything in case a bunch of maniacs start having a go"?

It doesn't work for me I'm afraid, and while I appreciate the onslaughts are unpleasant these types quickly show themselves for what they are and happily can be ignored by more rational people

I also agree with a PP's remarks about "instant gratification" and folk expecting to see payback now when that's not how life tends to work. We'll see how the pieces fall in time - Charity Commission inquiry included - and doubtless there'll be a few surprises along the way

MissRoseDurward · 03/04/2025 18:12

Surely any divorce settlement would include a watertight NDA?

Depends who is paying.
Harry might not have enough money to buy an NDA.
If Pa is putting his hand in his pocket, possibly.
If she is thinking of it, she can't leave it too long, because William might well say 'publish and be damned'.
And the older her children are, the more damaging it would be for them, if she does a tell all.
And it will all be ancient history by then anyway.

MaturingCheeseball · 03/04/2025 18:23

I think Netflix will save their skins by stepping in with the reality show last chance saloon. It’s just about their only selling point now.

Harry would have to offer more than could be made with such a tell it all.

NewAgeNewMe · 03/04/2025 18:26

I’d probably say publish and be damned and sue if there was anything that could be proved to be a lie.

MagdaLenor · 03/04/2025 18:28

Harry wouldn't know what was the truth and what was fake though, would he?

The more the Sussexes are discredited, the less dangerous they become to the Royal family. When few people take at face value anything they have to say, what's the point of squandering money on an NDA?

That and the longer they are out of the RF the less relevant they become.

LemonLeaves · 03/04/2025 19:10

A divorce tell-all would be very high risk. Whilst PH does not have the assets of an ultra high net worth man, his family and connections make him part of that world.

Typically, UHNW people don't favour lots of publicity about their personal life. A divorce tell-all payday would need to be significant, as it would likely torpedo the chances of marrying at that level again.

Uricon2 · 03/04/2025 19:15

They are more and more like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor every day, possibly though in worse financial straights. They seemed to be able to live in some style with eye watering Cartier jewellery no problem, while I don't think H&M really have the money to finance the way they're living longterm, without a major success that thus far remains elusive.

It’s not so much the SS though how they operate is horrendous but how SC has been treated in the main stream media that could really put people off raising their heads above the parapet. Hands up 🙌 I’m impatient and want a bit of instant gratification 😂

Still got the out of date kitchen of the previous owners as pointed out in that NY Times article, I would have though Meghan would have been itching to put her mark on the place.

Sandringham and Balmoral had been left to Edward in the expectation he would be King. He screwed a substantial amount out of George VI in return for handing them back.

And I don't suppose they spent as much as H&M. They couldn't, when they were banished to the Bahamas during the war, and they didn't have the eye-watering security bill, or children to bring up and educate.

I think the Windsors' life was sad and pathetic, but they did retain a certain status. Of course, David had been an actual King, not the 5th in line. It was also a more deferential age.

And Wallis knew how to dress.

Uricon2 · 03/04/2025 19:41

Wallis ended up in old age in a pitiable state that I wouldn't wish on my very worst enemy (frankly, elder abuse) and before that it seemed an aimless, drifting life where they could never quite recapture what had been lost, comfortable as their existence was.

@IcedPurple indeed, Edward/David had the cachet of an actual King who had given up his throne. Harry doesn't.

Lunde · 03/04/2025 19:53

You have to hand it to Meghan and Harry - they have the worst business timing. They launch a luxury lifestyle brand the day before the US Stock market crashes.

A bit like when they flew off to be LA moguls just weeks before the Covid lockdowns.

@BigWillyLittleTodger Exactly, I predict in a few decades they will be precisely where Andrew and Fergie are now. Except they won’t have any family support to save them.

There is only so much of your self that you can merchandise before you look desperate and people are sick of you.

What will they do once William is king?

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't another book, whether from Harry or from Meghan or as a joint endeavour. It would be all about how nobly they've striven for independence and been frozen out by the RF. If they do separate, Megan's will be no holds barred bitchfest positioning herself as the complete victim of a jealous and racist family who did nothing to help her and hung them both out to dry so the marriage stood no chance.

Agree - also she would be doing the equation of what has the biggest pay-off - a divorce settlement vs an OW, NF, PRH etc deal.

Bag of the fag packet would suggest the latter.

I also think that PH wouldnt do a reciprocal dirty laundry on her due to his own personal experience and his DCs - and possibly how it would look to his family and friends in the UK. Also I think she is the adored and he is the adoree in the relationship. So OW, NF, PRH will have only one golden goose and we can all see which one it will be and that they are keeping this long term investment warm.

KC3 may leave PH stacks of cash but this will likely be lied up in trusts that MM or any other non blood 'blow-in' will not be able to access.

I think PH is confident that he will be well looked after financially thats why he is doing only the global statesman stuff - MM on the other hand is cashing in hard for as long as she can IMHO.

Remember this would be following a split so Harry may not come off well. Though they do have children in common and you would hope that would significantly impact the extent of any criticism.

StartupRepair · 03/04/2025 21:02

The description of Sentebale board meetings where topics that might make Harry uncomfortable (the inappropriacy of polo) could not be raised , suggests that this is also how Invictus operates. So all the Board members know that Meghan turning it into a fashion parade is ghastly but no-one can bring themselves to say it.
The opposite of what you would expect from a decent Board.
