I'm not sure. Harry and Meghan are obsessed by their image in the media.

Would he really allow a 'friend' to talk to the media, and in particular to a paper he has sued, without knowing exactly what would be said? Think of Spare. Harry was happy for the world to know that his wife had a 'run in' with Kate over lip gloss, and that he envied his brother an extra sausage at breakfast time. The idea that every woman is motivated by jealousy of his wife probably sounds sensible and logical to him. I really do think he and Meghan live in their own little world, completely detached from reality.

I agree.
Harry is absolutely deluded. He thinks that they are the ultimate golden power couple who everyone aspires to be. If someone doesn’t agree with them, criticises them or doesn’t like them, it’s because they’re jealous, or racist. Or both.
Zero accountability, zero self awareness.
I also think that they are both control freaks and are absolutely obsessed with their image as they feel the need to be (and feel entitled to being) the most loved and powerful couple in any situation or room.

I don't think Harry approved or even knew what Rayner was going to say, fwiw.

I reckon Boshoff contacted Rayner and asked if he had anything to say about the debacle; Rayner contacted Harry and asked if it was OK if he spoke to the Mail on Harry's behalf. Harry, doubtless keen to have some positive media to counteract the criticism he's been getting, would have replied with a resounding Yes and also probably relayed his (or M's?) view that this all stemmed from SC's jealousy of the wonderful Meg.

Given that Harry has previously claimed on record that William, Kate, Charles and Camilla are ALL feverishly jealous of Meghan, this erroneous belief does sound as though it would have originated with H&M.

But I doubt Harry thought for a moment that imbecile Rayner would get on the phone and say all of that on the record, and with such a strong overtone of misogyny and racism.

If he DID, then he's stupider than I thought. And I already thought he was pretty fucking stupid.

Edited

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that possibility. It could have happened that way. I'm not sure, for several reasons. Rayner is an obscure character. No journalist in 2025 would have him in their contacts book. What would be Alison Boshoff's motivation for digging around to find someone from Harry's past to speak about him? H&M have form for planting supportive comments about them in the press. Then there's the use of 'H' to refer to Harry, which only Meghan does. In H&M's distorted world, I can see a conference call with Rayner scribbling notes as Harry talks, with Meghan chipping in. In that way, he would retain their tone when he spoke to Alison Boshoff.

Invictus must be thinking really hard about what to do about Harry, and Meghan. At the very least, the Sentebale revelations should embolden them to talk to Harry about how to keep Meghan in the background, a conversation bound go go badly. They could hold him to ransom by saying that he can only remain as patron if Meghan doesn't attend. Even then, Harry is now even more tarnished than before.

I don’t think it will embolden anyone I’m afraid, they will see how SC has been treated by the media, bullied by Harry and his flying monkeys, bullied online by the squad so much so she has had to close down her X account and therefore they could be absolutely terrified of receiving the same treatment themselves. Harry and Meghan seem to be untouchable, known bullies on both sides of the pond, bullying a black woman on the world stage for everyone to see and they still will come up smelling of roses, no other celebrities on the planet would get away with a tenth of this behaviour (Ellen for example).

Do they though?

Other than their devoted fans, most of whom appear impervious to all reason, who admires Harry and Meghan these days? Think of how they were regarded 7 or even 5 years ago compared to now.

Archived article about the life and times of one Alex Rayner. Still more interesting is his "hilarious" Insta account (not sure if allowed to post a link but look up "oggyboys")

I believe he is also on Tiktok.

He's 46 so a bit odd if he was friends with Harry (40) at Eton. Harry went there at 13 so he'd have been 19 and left or about to leave. Schoolfriends are your peer group, surely?

Busy on the why is no one talking about Andrew thread, when all else fails, but but Andrew!

Yes, that sounds like their comfort zone.

I've only glanced at that thread but I imagine the words 'bashing' and 'vitriol' are being used with abandon?

God forbid a prince of the realm be 'bullied'. Not that they're fans of his of course.

ViolasandViolets · 03/04/2025 16:32

To most people (including those on here) Harry and Meghan are a soap opera. The bullying is just part of the story. It is just like character development in a fictional soap; characters all the viewers know are the bad guys. They can get away with it so long as they are just selling their story. The problem comes when they try to do something different.

Uricon2 · 03/04/2025 16:33

Further to finding out more about Alex Rayner (who seems to be a self publicist and "character") I even more question why Harry thought him speaking on his behalf would be a good idea.

OK, some of it is probably an act but he is the absolute stereotype of a well heeled, red trousered braying Rah. That might have still be OK had the interview about Sentebale not been so absolutely appalling.

Yes, other than their fans, who generally have a reputation for being deluded and not very bright, I don’t know anyone in the real world who has a good word to say about them (though by now people in the real world, away from SM) don’t seem to be talking about them at all. I’m not sure it would even occur to most people outside of forums to buy her stuff. Maybe she’s not even looking at As Ever as a long term business.

You’re right it really is a soap opera. Their fans can’t understand why you can dislike them yet still watch them but it’s like watching Dirty Den in Eastenders. I hated Eastenders but would watch certain storylines, once that had concluded or faded I was out. I haven’t watched soaps for many years now as I got bored with them and the same will happen with this soap.

How did you guess? 😂 funny how they are so deeply concerned about so called bullying of Meghan, yet never a hint of criticism of the bullying she and Harry dole out.

But, but, but Andrew....

ETA, I did ask one the other day who was adamant that Sophie Chandauka should be quiet why she (Sophie) isn't being appuladed by them for speaking out about bullying but Meghan always has been. Still waiting for a reply but it's only been about four days so I'm sure it'll happen any second now!

Perhaps I am being optimistic about emboldening. The veterans are rumoured to be very discontented with the money spent on H&M and on Meghan's high profile at the games. The number of veterans competing is falling. The Sentabale debacle is their opportunity to push for change. Invictus should also be concerned about how their funds are being used.

I wonder how they happened upon that thread, given that they don't actually follow the royals as we know?

I also wonder if we'll soon see a spate of name changing to rival what we saw almost exactly a year ago? It's certainly not going to be easy for any of the 'stalwarts' to claim they're motivated by a hatred of racism and bullying now. Which doesn't mean they won't try.

Scampisocks · 03/04/2025 17:00

GiveMeSpanakopita · 03/04/2025 15:48

It's kind of reminiscent of H&M's stance on social media.

Evil when it's being used to criticise them; absolutely fine when it's being used to buy Meghan's jam and generally tell her how spiffing she is.

And fine when it is used to tear down their percieved rivals - Dr S and W&C.

They need to be accountable to their 'values' and call the attack dogs off.

But they wont - they will sit back and let them do their dirty work with regards Dr S fpr PH and no doubt SS will be the target market and the biggest floggers of As Ever products for MM.

Scampisocks · 03/04/2025 17:02

CoffeeCantata · 03/04/2025 15:41

I totally agree. I think that 'statement' will haunt Harry and Meghan for a long time. It's a PR disaster because it lays out explicitly just how stupid, small-minded, arrogant, snobbish, sexist, racist etc etc they both are. I agree with pps who detect Meghan's input too.

It's the old story about the difference between being thought a fool and opening your mouth and proving it!

MM could take this opportunity to disassociate herself from PH due to his misogynist and racist views - she did that to Jessica Mulroney.

I think they had another strategy which was to deflect with a thread about Prince Andrew which diverted a lot of energy.

I think in this era of instant gratification, it may appear that H&M are impervious because something has not happened immediately...but take a look at where they were in 2020 and look where they are now in 2025, a scant 5 years later.

Failed projects, negativity, toxicity, "f*g grifters". H&M can no longer sign lucrative contracts as no one trusts them to deliver quality projects on time and on budget. Talented production staff have their pick of projects and can avoid H&M. Well-run companies and charities will avoid H&M and only the less reputable elements in Hollywood will be willing to engage this pair. PR personnel will become harder to find as top talent will avoid H&M.

All the while H&M's bills will increase...security, private schooling x2, taxes (Cailfornia's got to plug a $73 billion budget deficit and rebuild fire-ravaged Los Angeles so state taxes will inevitably rise).

We have seen this movie before, desperate scrambling for cash leading to not-so-savoury associations. It is Andrew and Fergie 2.0, except Fergie was smarter in not alienating her children from their cousin and future King.

It is crazy if anyone ever thought they could - Meghan was the only one with any relevant experience and even then not production experience. But I think NF and Spotify really hoped to be buying a reality show that followed their life, or a screen version of Spare, not programs about polo where they made a cameo appearance.

Not so sure.

If As Ever takes off and OW, TP, NF etc are happy to sign her for something and PH and Sentebale tarnishes her brand - I think she will be off.
