No, but it’s the charity he founded.

The trustees are being taken to court by the chair. So they have stepped down.

what are they actually being taken to court for?

Is it? I remember that!

Is there a clip of this somewhere? Ta

The thing with the polo is that he showed (and Meghan) how little he respected her with the worlds media watching, why would he be any different in private.

AtIusvue · 26/03/2025 08:38

Basically Harry hadn’t visited in 6 years, wasn’t raising much for the charity anymore and seemed to have lost interest. Also past dodgy dealings

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-14537723/Sentebale-Harry-prince-humiliating-REBECCA-ENGLISH.html

‘Nor (I, would argue, significantly in the circumstances) had he ever taken his wife, Meghan, to visit. Instead they have focused their efforts since quitting royal duties on high-profile joint tours to Colombia and Nigeria, as well as their lives as professional victims of the Royal Family.

But it has long been clear that something wasn’t quite right. And like so many of Harry’s long-standing projects, it does seem that his work in this field has stagnated since leaving the Royal Family, where he would have had a whole team of experienced palace private secretaries and press officers to corral his philanthropic efforts.

It is also worth noting that this is not the first scandal that has engulfed the charity, however well-meaning Harry’s intentions.
In 2008 (just two years after Sentebale was founded) it emerged that just £84,000 of the £1.15million raised (through events including a concert in memory of his late mother and a high-profile television documentary on his travels there) had actually been spent on helping the Aids orphans that Harry had set out to save.
Meanwhile some £250,000 had been lavished on staffing costs, plus tens of thousands more on new offices and a fleet of branded 4 x 4 vehicles. The charity’s first director had been earning an eye-watering £100,000 a year (a huge sum bearing in mind this was a fledgling charity two decades ago) and enjoyed a perks package that included a four-bedroom villa with staff and even an education allowance for his three children to attend private schools out-of-country.‘

What I saw when I visited Sentebale with Harry: REBECCA ENGLISH

In 2006 I accompanied Prince Harry on my first visit to Lesotho, the dusty, landlocked African kingdom that had captured his heart on his gap year travels two years earlier.

They are being sued, what exactly for not sure. There was also an injunction to stop the trustees voting her off

I've only read the BBC article and it seems to be a governance issue. There were no actual details though.

The Chair contacted the CC over governance issues.

Had a quick re read.

It mentions abuse of power, harassment and governance.

So sad. A friend has worked out there as a teacher since she retired on a number of occasions. She really believes in the charity and did a lot of good. The boots on the ground volunteers will be dismayed.

Dr Sophie Chandauka‘s statement is telling……

Sounds like the chair got rid of all Harry’s posho pals who live in the UK, who were on the board, replacing them with local experts. Which makes complete sense to me!

Where is your information about this. And surely it is the current board members who are in conflict with the Chair.

User450707 · 26/03/2025 08:54

Why is nobody at all surprised that an aristocratic, multi millionaire living in LA is probably only attached to a charity for vanity?

To be fair, he's only 40, has two young children, a narcissistic wife and a hundred other projects and lawsuits going on at the same time. It's obvious to everyone that he can't visit or support the charity in the same capacity as when it was founded.

LunaNorth · 26/03/2025 08:55

Harry just can’t function out on his own in the real world, can he?

Utterly institutionalised. He must find life bewildering.

ColourlessGreenIdeasSleepFuriously · 26/03/2025 08:59

He's hardly the brightest spark, is he, so I am not surprised to hear his pet charity was a basket case

I hope so

Certainly the days of being a white saviour Prince in Africa is over. Im surprised it’s taken until 2025 for this to happen.

I certainly hope so.

Yeh he hadn’t visited in 6 years and the income was down.

Also, if you want to help AIDS orphans in Africa, why not support one of the long-established charities that already have major expertise in this area, rather than draw off donations to your own new venture, creating overhead drag that reduces efficiency of the money on the ground?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 26/03/2025 09:03

‘misogynoir’ is a strange word. Surely it should be ‘misomelas’, which would mean ‘dislike of black’ , or I suppose if you want it only to refer to black women ‘misogymelas’ ( taken out the n for elision). Also the Chair’s statement seems to have got into a bit of a muddle about thé charity’s recipients

‘in the spirit of ubuntu: to whom much is given, much is expected.’

Surely she mean ‘From whom much is given…’
Anyway, I suspect this is quite a lot about USAid funding, which has now probably vanished. Whoops!

Im finding the bit about the expenses most eye opening and that was 2 years into the formation if the charity!
Fast forward to the most recent polo events, on Reddit are pictures of the evening meal and I’m wondering about the cost /income ratio on that. Given that it took place in the US.
