As ever season two: fluffy eggs (with sparkling water) on faces!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Despite the ‘almighty’ British media, the rightwing US media and the internet brigade attempting to outdo each other with their crushing, supposedly annihilating reviews of Meghan’s As ever show, not only has it spent the past days in Netflix’s top 10 in more than 40 countries (including being Nr 5 in the Meg-lovin’ UK), Netflix have renewed the show for a 2nd season!

And of course, Netflix are also actively supporting the launch and commercialisation of Meghan’s As ever product range.

So, some folks have plenty of (hopefully fluffy - add sparkling water!) egg on their faces right now, and none of them are Meghan. She’s delivered the perfect put-down to her detractors with her “Lettuce romaine calm” pun, playfully announcing her Season 2 on her Instagram…. and adding a bum wiggle which to me said “we’ve obviously known for months that there’ll be a season 2, but y’all didn’t, so we’ve let you play with your silly headlines and review-bombing about this being ‘the end of the road’ and we ‘should kiss goodbye to Netflix’ BS, before making you all look like the obsessive fools you are by announcing season 2. Back-off and just chill, folks!”

Too funny! So far in this little PR war, it’s Meghan 2, detractors 0. Basically, the general public don’t GAF about the screeching online: if the show’s a good watch they’ll watch it, and they evidently are… kinda like… a certain biography, that other Sussex review-bombed ‘abject failure’ that still went on to become a Nr1 bestseller in the UK and US…

So, where did the gormless twopenny British journalists and their equally misguided US counterparts go wrong (again)? They were so eager to wield the knife into Meghan (a soooo much easier and risk-free target than Elon Musk, Donald Trump or even Andrew Tate, whom they’re evidently too chicken sh*t to go after with a tenth of the vitriol they enjoy hurling at Meghan), that they forgot to read the not so small print.

That small print includes the words “Netflix” and “Sony Pictures Television”, producers of As ever.

Now, who wields more power and influence over US viewers and consumers, Marina Hyde and her fellow sour-grapes, or Netflix and Sony Pictures combined (not to mention People magazine, Drew Barrymore, etc)?

Hmm… tough one.

So next time spineless journos want to pile-in on a mixed heritage woman for the heinous crime of launching a feel-good lifestyle business, maybe they could read the small print about who’s backing her and turn their Trump and Musk a*s-licking tongues in their mouths a few times before spouting off, lest they end up being the ones looking utterly ridiculous?

If you feel the British and right wing media have been spineless in their continued attacks on Meghan Sussex, discuss!

Meanwhile I need to find me one of ‘em ‘Lettuce romaine calm” baseball caps. Etsy sellers, get to work!

OK, so maybe start up your own 'I hate everything about M&H' thread, this is about a cooking show. Or should I just bring up how horrible King Charles is to his staff (pen-gate) or how Kate lied about a photo or Will's woefully inadequate attempts to fix homelessness or pay tax.... every time we mention the RF? I would be rightfully flamed for that!! I see M as attempting to move on and earn her own money, and that is a good thing to me.

I'm not sure what you mean? Most of the responses are on topic. It's you who seems to be looking to drag it off topic. Assuming that everyone who thought this show was rubbish is some great fan of every other member of the royal family is also a bit weird.

Meghan spent less than 2 years as a working royal and has been in California for 5 years, so I also don't get the 'attempting to move on' thing either. Most of us don't need 5 years to 'move on' from a position we only held for a brief time.

Do you think she has the skills to make money in this way? Or is she relying on her marriage?

Earning money is something I think we can all agree is a good thing.

Is she 'earning' it with this show?

If so no doubt it will be recommissioned by Nf (not the same as releasing the second half already filmed).

I will happily acknowledge I am wrong if she gets a new contract with NF. It doesn't work for me, but I doubt I am the target audience.

This is about Meghan's show. "cooking" is a stretch, but whatever. You're free to start whatever threads you choose about anyone else. Your mistake is imagining that these criticisms are somehow unjustified or unwarranted. How about challenging some of the points rather than referring to other people and their perceived faults?
Meghan is a controversial figure who is trying to stay in the headlines, remain a celebrity, meanwhile trading on her royal connections. Yes. People are going to comment and it ain't gonna be all sweet, as the song says.

RominaDina · 09/03/2025 17:49

I agree that earning money by putting dried flowers on food is a bit more honest than doing it by using the perpetual victim strategy.

It was awful, I kept waiting for Jeremy Beadle to jump out and say it was a wind up

Have you read the title of this thread?
Or the opening post?
This is no thread about a cooking show , it's a sneering attempt at crowing false success and superiority over anyone not fangirling Meghan markle!
Fluffy eggs ( with sparkling water ) on faces ! Indeed !

You seem affronted by a stranger’s success. Why is that? Don’t worry there are plenty of other threads on the RF board to feed your illusion. I guess it’s more convenient than a prescription. Enjoy!

she has been anything but a success. But please keep telling yourself that. What really strikes me as odd is your obsession with someone you will
never meet let alone know. It’s akin to my teenage crush I had on Morton Harket. Only in your case you’re a grown up and I was 13. It’s all a bit bizarre

Er this thread is about the "cookery" show, if you would like to discuss any of the issues you mention then perhaps YOU should start a thread

Literally was in People Magazine at the beginning of the week. But yeah sure - insider information.

Ah, that passed me by, I don't read US, supermarket tabloids that don't exist.

After the star studded Netflix show, I can hardly wait now!

RominaDina · 09/03/2025 18:09

Also, @flippantlydone , you are obviously new to MN, because there were many, many threads about Kate and the photo. Mostly very critical. Lots of deletions of offensive points as well, it has to be said. So if you think Meghan is somehow the only person who comes in for criticism, you are very much mistaken.

Munnygirl · 09/03/2025 18:10

NormaMajors1992coat · 09/03/2025 17:02

it doesn’t matter how much evidence there is that this woman is winning

What evidence is there that she is winning @Sayitagainmyl?

Obviously having to delay half a series because your product tie-ins aren't ready isn't exactly brilliant, so let's put that in the losing column along with the Spotify deal, Pearl, The Bench, 40x40, environmental hypocrisy, getting put in her place by Dior, falling popularity, awful reviews of WLM, lying to the court, repeated accusations of bullying, South Park, The Cut and being labelled an actual loser by the Hollywood Reporter - what else?

Megan could declare bankruptcy and her fans would still say she was winning and a huge success

How has Meghan "moved on" from the RF when she is still trading off a royal title, and is only given opportunities because of it?

I've never seen anyone less "moved on"! I find it a bit sad, really.

Charles got cross. About a pen not working during probably the most stressful days of his life. Kate didn't lie about anything - she released a family snap and was torn apart because of a bit of photoshopping. William pays tax, and surely any effort to reduce homelessness is worth applauding. Govt hasn't been able to sort it in decades so blaming one man for not fixing it in what, 5 years, seems a bit uncharitable.

I don’t think anyone on these threads hates Meghan and Harry, posters are mostly amused, gobsmacked or a bit Hmm at their antics, especially given their enormous hypocrisy in several matters.

People magazine! 😂
And folks on here slag off the Daily Mail. It's like the Financial Times in comparison.

Meghan gave a firsthand interview to People magazine to coincide with the show's release which was released at the beginning of the week.

I thought she said she was a "latch key kid"?
It's hard to fathom what the truth is with her.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, will host a new podcast coming this spring, she reveals to PEOPLE in this week's exclusive cover story.

At least they are now admitting that they are feeding stories directly to the American tabloid press, rather than pretending "sources" are doing so.

I thought the US doesn’t have tabloids ?

Bontonbonbon · 09/03/2025 18:54

This whole situation can be summed up with my favourite quote from the Wagatha Christie trial:

’chat shit, get banged’

And for once, the immortal poet Jamie Vardy is right. No one can expect to spend their life criticising and complaining about the behaviour of others without some negative return. Meghan began this whole hoopla by making very public accusations about other people and she is now feeling the consequences of those actions.

There is a reason why the RF motto is ‘never complain, never explain’. Because airing your grievances opens you up for criticism and examination of your own actions. But Meghan would not be told and now she’s pissed off a lot of people with her lies, pretence and bitchy behaviour. Being kind to people when it makes you look good does not make up for being nasty to people behind closed doors.

I respect that people like her. But I would question whether the defence of her is anymore than confirmation bias. People get so entrenched in being right that they can’t be wrong.
