As ever season two: fluffy eggs (with sparkling water) on faces!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Despite the ‘almighty’ British media, the rightwing US media and the internet brigade attempting to outdo each other with their crushing, supposedly annihilating reviews of Meghan’s As ever show, not only has it spent the past days in Netflix’s top 10 in more than 40 countries (including being Nr 5 in the Meg-lovin’ UK), Netflix have renewed the show for a 2nd season!

And of course, Netflix are also actively supporting the launch and commercialisation of Meghan’s As ever product range.

So, some folks have plenty of (hopefully fluffy - add sparkling water!) egg on their faces right now, and none of them are Meghan. She’s delivered the perfect put-down to her detractors with her “Lettuce romaine calm” pun, playfully announcing her Season 2 on her Instagram…. and adding a bum wiggle which to me said “we’ve obviously known for months that there’ll be a season 2, but y’all didn’t, so we’ve let you play with your silly headlines and review-bombing about this being ‘the end of the road’ and we ‘should kiss goodbye to Netflix’ BS, before making you all look like the obsessive fools you are by announcing season 2. Back-off and just chill, folks!”

Too funny! So far in this little PR war, it’s Meghan 2, detractors 0. Basically, the general public don’t GAF about the screeching online: if the show’s a good watch they’ll watch it, and they evidently are… kinda like… a certain biography, that other Sussex review-bombed ‘abject failure’ that still went on to become a Nr1 bestseller in the UK and US…

So, where did the gormless twopenny British journalists and their equally misguided US counterparts go wrong (again)? They were so eager to wield the knife into Meghan (a soooo much easier and risk-free target than Elon Musk, Donald Trump or even Andrew Tate, whom they’re evidently too chicken sh*t to go after with a tenth of the vitriol they enjoy hurling at Meghan), that they forgot to read the not so small print.

That small print includes the words “Netflix” and “Sony Pictures Television”, producers of As ever.

Now, who wields more power and influence over US viewers and consumers, Marina Hyde and her fellow sour-grapes, or Netflix and Sony Pictures combined (not to mention People magazine, Drew Barrymore, etc)?

Hmm… tough one.

So next time spineless journos want to pile-in on a mixed heritage woman for the heinous crime of launching a feel-good lifestyle business, maybe they could read the small print about who’s backing her and turn their Trump and Musk a*s-licking tongues in their mouths a few times before spouting off, lest they end up being the ones looking utterly ridiculous?

If you feel the British and right wing media have been spineless in their continued attacks on Meghan Sussex, discuss!

Meanwhile I need to find me one of ‘em ‘Lettuce romaine calm” baseball caps. Etsy sellers, get to work!

I feel like my toes might never uncurl, so embarrassed for how foolish you make yourself look in your attempts to defend these idiots 😬

I know !!
I have taken only two short flights ( both to Italy !) in the whole of my 50 years on this earth!!!
Am I allowed to comment on the carbon footprint of globe trotting, private jet using celebrity hypocrites? 🙄

Not if you have electricity. That puts you into the jet set category.

jeffgoldblum · 09/03/2025 16:37

Embarrassing, nonsensical and ridiculous!

CoffeeCantata · 09/03/2025 16:47

But hey, if the real goal is uplifting women, I’m sure tearing this one down is the way to go.

(Off-topic a bit but this issue is one I see a lot on MN. Why does being a feminist mean you are prohibited from criticising people because they're women? I've never understood this bizarre stance. We should be free to criticise people of all genders without prejudice. To me they're people first and men/women/other, second.)

RominaDina · 09/03/2025 16:54

I agree, @CoffeeCantata . For the same reason you can criticise people of colour, or gay people, or those with disabilities. No-one is a saint.
It's just a way to shut people down, make them feel bad for what they say..

And here we are the same breathless regurgitation of complete juvenile sounding nonsense

You seem affronted by a stranger’s success. Why is that? Don’t worry there are plenty of other threads on the RF board to feed your illusion. I guess it’s more convenient than a prescription. Enjoy!

NormaMajors1992coat · 09/03/2025 17:02

it doesn’t matter how much evidence there is that this woman is winning

What evidence is there that she is winning @Sayitagainmyl?

Obviously having to delay half a series because your product tie-ins aren't ready isn't exactly brilliant, so let's put that in the losing column along with the Spotify deal, Pearl, The Bench, 40x40, environmental hypocrisy, getting put in her place by Dior, falling popularity, awful reviews of WLM, lying to the court, repeated accusations of bullying, South Park, The Cut and being labelled an actual loser by the Hollywood Reporter - what else?

Really? Is this more insider information? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

skullbabe · 09/03/2025 17:09

Literally was in People Magazine at the beginning of the week. But yeah sure - insider information.

CatsWhiskerz · 09/03/2025 17:16

I'm failing to understand how this is a success - lots of people have watched it and lots of people have said it's garbage, almost no good reviews. The second half already filmed apparently was delayed as the products relating to this series aren't ready ... unprepared 🤔 - no matter how much you sprinkle flowers or sprinkles it's still shit - awaiting the Pammie show now

Well, if you're going to take that attitude, then you could say that you and the OP with that utterly bizarre opening post are taking great joy in the alleged success of a person who wouldn't cross the road for you.

Speaking of 'success' how are you defining it? Are we meant to forget all the lofty aims they put in that weird 'manifesto' 5 years ago and consider it a great 'success' to have a NF show about making ladybird canapes in a rented mansion? And even so, is it really 'successful'? Despite the breathless claims of the OP, the show has not been renewed. Maybe it will be, but thus far it has not. It seems to have done decently as regards viewing figures, but given the level of promotion and the lack of competition, that's no great achievement. Let's see if it's still in the Top Ten anywhere a week from now. Reviews on both sides of the Atlantic have been almost universally scathing.

As for 'products' they don't exist as of yet and who knows how they will sell.

So without throwing schoolyard insults at those who don't share your adoration for someone whose main claim to fame is marriage to a British prince, can you say how exactly this is a great success?

pilates · 09/03/2025 17:20

@Spectre8 are you suggesting Norma should live like the people in Ben Fogle's Channel 5 show, "New Lives in the Wild”?Living off-grid in remote locations? 😂

flippantlydone · 09/03/2025 17:23

I don't recall this many negative threads on Pippa for her ice tray instructions. Just because you like the RF, doesn't mean you have to hate on everything M does. Yes, be critical, but this level of hate for a cooking show is embarrassing.

jeffgoldblum · 09/03/2025 17:26

There's no hate for a cooking show !
Firstly because it's not a cooking show ! It's an extremely long advertisement for her products!
Secondly because it's so ridiculous it's actually become a comedy sketch! It's hilarious and entertaining!

I can't wait personally to see what hugely entertaining successful entertainment Meghan brings us next!

If you see hate, report it. There was plenty of criticism of Pippa. However, she hadn't already made a career of slagging off the RF, doing all those interviews etc and so was not so obviously unpleasant and hypocritical. Just a bit dim and greedy.

Pippa was mocked however , unlike Meghan , she hasn’t ( to the best of my knowledge) been accused of lying in court, bullying employees , disrespecting the late Queen and family , casting off family and friends when no longer of use etc etc . In most people’s eyes this makes her a bit more likeable.

On Lemonada ? Any indication what the subject matter will be ?

RominaDina · 09/03/2025 17:29

I really dislike the misuse of the word "hate". It's a very strong term, and it most certainly is not a synonym for "justified criticism".

Baital · 09/03/2025 17:30

I am not a monarchist! Can see the contradictions in a democratic society, but also the problems with huge constitutional change. I would like to see politicians stand up to monarchs using influence for their own benefit, but that would be the same with an elected head of state.

So, no 'love' for the RF, but can spot a couple of chancers trying to spin a story!

TheMeasure · 09/03/2025 17:38

Well, it's not really a season two, is it? More like part two.

What jars with me with this load of syrupy nonsense programme is the blatant attempt to take viewers for fools by trying to present herself as being this warm, generous and thoughtful person who is "all about love" when so many times she's been shown to be the complete opposite. That's the inauthentic part.

Can't be doing with it.

flippantlydone · 09/03/2025 17:38

OK, so maybe start up your own 'I hate everything about M&H' thread, this is about a cooking show. Or should I just bring up how horrible King Charles is to his staff (pen-gate) or how Kate lied about a photo or Will's woefully inadequate attempts to fix homelessness or pay tax.... every time we mention the RF? I would be rightfully flamed for that!! I see M as attempting to move on and earn her own money, and that is a good thing to me.

It will be an extension of the lifestyle, well being, self care, women’s issues etc. it’s under the As ever trademark application. So will all be designed about shifted products too
