Catherine has returned to her public duties and has visited the Royal Marsden hospital today to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides".

It has been revealed that she attended her chemotherapy appointments at Royal Marsden. She thanked staff and visited patients for approximately an hour. It’s also been released that she will join William in becoming a royal patron of the hospital.

I thought that we could use this thread for any Catherine news/public visits now that she is back.

This is a valuable engagement for Kate. It’s great that she’s thanked the staff at the Royal Marsden and it brings attention to the incredible work they do.

I was diagnosed shortly after she made the video confirming she had cancer.

It means such a lot that she's been as open as she has been while respecting her family's privacy.

It has had a huge impact for me.

I don't think there is anything negative to be said about her visit

@SnidelyWhiplash sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing well.

Just seen the news. She said it was nice to go in through the front door for once, quite clear that during her treatment she was (understandably) smuggled in. Another layer of stress which most of us don't have to think about and can't have helped.

Great that she's going to be a patron with William.

I know lots of people do not agree with the Monarchy but I believe she is a real asset to Great Britain.

Ah that's brilliant. Really glad to hear that her treatment has been successful and she is in remission.

She really is. I know quite a few anti Monarchists in real life who profess that they like Catherine (and William to a lesser extent).

I’m glad she’s out and about and hopefully the cancer is now well behind her.

GooseMoose2 · 14/01/2025 17:28

Hopefully the cancer is behind her now. Even if treatment has finished I am sure she is still processing what happened, surgery and chemo is very traumatic to go through. All the best to her.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 14/01/2025 17:40

Really hope 2025 is going to be a much better year for her, 2024 really couldn’t have been much worse, the accusations in Scobie’s book, abdominal surgery being diagnosed with cancer, chemotherapy, Charles being diagnosed with cancer the Mother’s Day media onslaught, the where is Kate worldwide hysteria, having to announce your cancer to the world, I’m amazed she has come through it, not just physically but mentally as well, though we don’t really know how all of this has affected her it must have been incredibly tough to cope with all that on top of cancer.

Uricon2 · 14/01/2025 17:46

I think a lot of the stick that she (unfairly) gets is because she grasps that the Consort is the support act for the Monarch. In good Royal marriages it is very much a partnership and the Consort shines too, but ultimately they are not the focus (well, not since William and Mary, which was a bit off piste!) Prince Philip (born royal and a forceful personality) got it, it went skewiff with Charles and Diana. I don't think that was really her fault, the Press about her was phenomenal and there were clearly other issues in the marriage, but it doesn't really work when someone eclipses the regnant King or Queen. The POW time is preparation for what is to come.

It can't be an easy role at all and I think Kate is doing a fantastic job, under horrible circumstances this last year. Let's hope a corner is thoroughly turned and they can both relax a bit.
