Catherine has returned to her public duties and has visited the Royal Marsden hospital today to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides".

It has been revealed that she attended her chemotherapy appointments at Royal Marsden. She thanked staff and visited patients for approximately an hour. It’s also been released that she will join William in becoming a royal patron of the hospital.

That's beautiful

I really like that photo of Catherine and William

Did Catherine's necklace belong to the Queen? It's lovely.
Prince Phillip's mother sounds like a fascinating woman. She endured so much with her awful husband and the way her mental illness was dealt with but she had the courage to help those people. Didn't she end up as a nun? I would love to read a biography about her.

Yes Princess Alice did become a nun. I'm pretty sure there is a biography.

Uricon2 · 28/01/2025 12:34

There's a documentary about her, "The Queen's Mother in Law", it's currently on Youtube but not letting me link. I think it was made by ITV originally.

She was an incredible woman.

Thank you, will watch that.

Princess Alice’s life is fascinating and she saved the lives of Jews in WW2 and is buried in Israel. She was treated terribly by people who thought women who did little more than smile and cook were mad.

I once read the absolutely devastating account of what happened to Diana’s monster. She was emotionally and physically abused by Diana’s dad and when she left her dad and stepmum did their utmost to paint her as a mad dangerous woman, and it worked and she lost custody of her kids but never stop fighting for it back. Diana’s stepmum was very cruel to her and her and her siblings missed their mother immensely and begged to be let to see her but their vile dad said no. She Was then panted as “a woman who abandoned their family” and became a figure of hate as Diana’s popularity grew. Also her own mother supported the children being removed from her care

Has anyone read Earl Spencer’s autobiography? I want to read it but might find it upsetting.

Apparently Catherine's necklace is from Susan Caplan, which is a Jewish-owned company in London (according to a post they made on Insta [maybe, I don't use it but I think that's what the screenshot I saw is from!]).

So that's a nice touch.

Thedom · 28/01/2025 13:01

Thanks for that info GrouchyKiwi, just looked at the website, some really nice vintage pieces.

The pearl necklace is trending on her shop, but it's out of stock, coming back soon.

LetThereBeLove · 28/01/2025 13:56

I've bought vintage jewellery from Susan Caplan. They are mostly one off pieces as I suspect Catherine's necklace is. There'll be plenty of copies I've no doubt. And a surge in popularity of pearls!

Catherine has been caught red handed 🤣

She visited Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in Sully, South Wales. It has been announced that the Princess of Wales has been made patron of the hospice, following in the footsteps of Princess Diana and King Charles.

Lovely picture @PrettyFlyforaMaiTai !
And just think that young girl will be able to tell people in future that she painted the queen's hand! 🖐️

Likewhatever · 30/01/2025 13:53

I love the fact that she was wearing a Zara dress. Maybe she needed something that could go through the wash afterwards 😂

Not2identifying · 30/01/2025 21:12

I've seen some lovely photos from today's engagements, she looks great (even if I don't much like the dress). It's a good sign that she's going further afield from their usual London-centric events.

I kind of liked the dress. It’s interesting that it's from Zara because I have bought some brilliant items from there over the years but I haven't found anything amazing for a few years. Maybe Catherine has a great stylist who can sniff good pieces out.

She's had this dress for a while, so it might have been purchased when you were finding good things. Apparently she has worn it about 4 times now.

I don't much like it, but it's a good choice for this kind of engagement.

Stopping the car to say hi to that little cutie was very sweet.

SnidelyWhiplash · 31/01/2025 13:21

How sweet of Kate to stop and say hi to the little girl.

aah, yes. It's not like it would make good PR or anything is it.

So cynical.
