Catherine has returned to her public duties and has visited the Royal Marsden hospital today to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides".

It has been revealed that she attended her chemotherapy appointments at Royal Marsden. She thanked staff and visited patients for approximately an hour. It’s also been released that she will join William in becoming a royal patron of the hospital.

That is a great image, she is so tall and elegant, she looks to be head and shoulders above everyone.

ssd · 14/01/2025 19:38

Im glad she is getting better, must be such a relief for them all.

Why?

You're asking me why some people like sticking the boot in? I don't know the answer to that.

istheheatingonyet · 14/01/2025 20:39

I hope all is well with her.

Halavonna · 14/01/2025 20:45

Good to hear the positive news of successful treatment following surgery. That must give hope to many in a similar position.

Having known several family members with successfully treated malignancies, the one thing they fear the most are the regular follow up scans, and the terror of recurrence. That probably never leaves you.

In Catherine's case if it wasn't stage 4 the chances are probably good for NED for a long long time. Stage 4 a bit more tricky but advances are being made in research and treatment every day so the outlook is a lot brighter than it might have been even ten years ago.

Wishing all going through treatment/recovering the best.

Duties?! 😂
She has a tough life.....

Yes, duties. Their engagements are their job, and they can’t just decide not to go because they want to do something else instead.
You can have duties without it being a “tough life”. Some of what they have to do is pretty tedious, and they have to be cheerful, ultra polite and attentive however they feel. They’re obviously not hard done by, but it is not a carefree life of doing what they want all the time.

Halavonna · 14/01/2025 20:49

Sounds like many jobs. Without the tiaras.

JADS · 14/01/2025 20:52

Nice to see her highlighting the sterling work and the amazing staff of the Royal Marsden. Taking on the patronage could be a step towards more work with cancer charities. I think that would be a good way for her to go work wise. I'm also pleased that she is in remission.

May job would be so much better with a tiara. I would wear it every day!

I love this photo. It’s a very powerful image.

Isn't it lovely to see an image where people are so happy to see her? Ok there is one lady eyeing up her bag 😂
No side eyes and death stares here.

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 14/01/2025 21:16

Very good news that she is in remission ❤️ Hopefully we will be seeing more of her now.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 14/01/2025 21:33

Is that an aspinal bag anyone know? It’s very nice. Birthday coming up - just saying. Glad to hear she’s on the mend.
@drivinmecrazy 🥰

Not a royalist but so pleased that she is in remission. That is excellent news.

I think the chemo must’ve been even harder because she didn’t have the camaraderie with the other patients and the chance to chat with people going through the same thing. She was whisked in and out and seen on her own I imagine, to protect her anonymity. There have been recent cases where celebrity cancer regrettably has been leaked to the press by other patients. I think someone took a pic of the singer Sarah Harding and offered it about 😠

Yes I thought that, must have been so lonely and hard for her. So pleased she's in remission

EachandEveryone · 14/01/2025 22:04

I was wondering did they just bung her into a side room or is there a private ward there? I’m glad she went there as I was expecting her to be in the same posh hospital as Charles.

I have my scans in the morning. It’s never ending.

My dh had scans and a colonoscopy every year for five years after a cancerous polyp was found in his colon. That was scary but what was really scary was at the end of the five years facing the thought that the next colonoscopy was five years away. He had it last year and all was fine but the fear truly is always lurking in the background.

She's absolutely their greatest asset right now

They should be grateful she's still around. I've been following Kate since pretty much the dating days and she's been through a lot. Many women would've left a long time ago

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 15/01/2025 05:59

best wishes @EachandEveryone

She had full help at home and with the kids and had door to door transport plus she probably didn’t have to wait for her medical care. Her doctors would have answered her questions right away etc. full comfort and care. Having this support will have helped her get through chemotherapy more than a chat with others.

hopeishere · 15/01/2025 07:45

Maybe @ButterCrackers but the need / desire for secrecy will have added another layer of stress.

Of course but I will never agree that chemotherapy was more difficult on a social level for her compared to others.

Not necessarily. Being able to talk to and connect with those who are going through the same experience as you is extremely valuable. Why else do you think people form “survivors” groups and such like for many different life events? Why do parents of children with life limiting conditions go to hospices etc where they can meet others in the same situation? Material help is obviously a bonus but it is being with those who understand your experience that is most valuable to you

Badbadbunny · 15/01/2025 07:57

And decent timely care. My oh has full on stress dealing with our local hospital as they can’t even get appointment times synchronised properly for blood tests, infusions, scans etc. He’d be long dead by now if he wasn’t capable and on top of his treatment. Same with his monthly battle to get his drugs prescribed - they foul it up every single month, wrong doses, missing drugs, wrong dates etc. I presume Kate had none of that to worry about.

That depends on the person. Some benefit from that, others don’t.
