Catherine has returned to her public duties and has visited the Royal Marsden hospital today to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides".

It has been revealed that she attended her chemotherapy appointments at Royal Marsden. She thanked staff and visited patients for approximately an hour. It’s also been released that she will join William in becoming a royal patron of the hospital.

isn't that her ( massively well rewarded) job?

I'm not sure what point you are making.

I don't think she is classy for turning up for her job, she is classy because of how she conducts herself under pressure and for she handled her strange life. She behaves well, keeps the focus off herself, as far as is possible, and doesn't complain about negative press coverage or lies. She tried not to be the story and treats everyone with respect. That's classy in my book.

The world is full of examples of entitlement, arrogance, rudeness etc, it's easy to behave badly when you are rich and have influence. But there are also classy people who realise they have privilege and get on with their jobs and try to make the world a little bit better. Catherine isn't the only one, within or outside the Royal family of course but I can see why she is popular.

smilesy · 18/03/2025 14:11

I think it was more meaning that she was classy cos she turned up for her job and carried it out with dignity, rising above salacious coverage of her in the press. Nothing to do with how much she is “paid” 🤷‍♀️

my point is for the literally millions they get from the taxpayer then damn right she can turn up at smile inanely at stuff.
" But there are also classy people who realise they have privilege and get on with their jobs and try to make the world a little bit better"

could you explain how she's making the world a little better? I see immense privelige using way more than her fair share of resources with no benefit to anybodyelse?
Don't mention her being patron of charities; apart from the odd appearance and wave she's personally doing sod all.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/03/2025 15:39

It must have taken immense strength of character to go out after those racist allegations, naming her and Charles. After the topless photos I’d have wanted to hide away!

I think her and her husband would both prefer to hide away whilst being given vast quantities of money by us.
Poor loves

Moog, I get that you are not in favour of the monarchy, but I do think it was quite brave of Catherine to face up to the public after the topless photos appeared 🤷‍♀️. No need for the snark, maybe?

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/03/2025 15:59

That’s a different topic.

I’m saying in two particular instances, when a lot of people would have wanted to hide away, she didn’t. Whatever one may think of the woman she got on with her job. Whether that’s a job in some people’s eyes is another question.

I couldn’t do what she does in a million years or for any amount of money.

wasn't that many many years ago?
I'm sure she's over the trauma by now.
What is she personally doing now to make peoples' lives better as a pp said.
I see her taking some of my money, and everybody else's; I see her wearing nice clothes and I see her grinning inanely on the odd occassion she feels forced to pop in for a visit to one of her charities ( many of which never see her)
What is SHE actually doing ?

well they've both done plenty of hiding away since.
what has she actually done personally in this massively well rewarded "job" that has improved people's lives?

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/03/2025 16:26

I didn’t say she has improved people’s lives. I think you may be getting me confused with someone else.

Hiding away, do you mean while she was having chemotherapy or since? I get that you don’t like them but at least have some understanding of why she wasn’t around while having chemotherapy.

Soccer you have decided that she lives off taxpayer money (incorrect) and contributes nothing (also incorrect according to those whose charities she supports) I can't really see the point of debating this with you.

No,
I mean hiding away and the pair of them being notoriously workshy for years before her treatment .

She doesn't get taxpayers' money?
lol

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/03/2025 16:34

Ahh I see. I actually don’t blame them to take it a bit easy while they can, as the closer to the throne the workload increases. They will be ‘working’ until well into their 80’s if they are lucky.

We won’t agree so I’ll leave it there.

I’m no expert but I believe her and William are now funded by the duchy of Cornwall ?
im sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me if this is wrong!

Mightymoog · 18/03/2025 17:16

they are indeed with all the opting out of tax that they wangle but i have read many times that a large amount trickles down to them from his dad and of course properties gifted to them .
So whilst not directly funded buy the SG they are effectively funded by the tax payer ( not wholly, as I said)

Well I’m not sure about that ! As far as I’ve been led to believe the sg funds the monarch, the duchy of Cornwall funds the heir ( the prince of wales ) , he then funds his family with same proceeds , so first Charles then William.

wordler · 18/03/2025 17:33

SG funds the business of the monarchy - from building maintenance to staff to state dinners to travel expenses for royal engagements. It’s all documented and audited so no trickling away for private use.

The monarch’s personal expenses for himself and whichever extended family he chooses to support comes from the Duchy of Lancaster.

except for the heir and heir’s family which funds all personal needs and working office and staff from the Duchy of Cornwall.

So William is in a very privileged position right now because the Cornwall funds used to have to support Charles’s needs plus the households of William and Harry.

He seems to be planning on using some of the funds for charitable projects though which is positive.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 18/03/2025 17:33

More of your money is spent on people who can't be arsed to get out of their pyjamas, get their kids to school and go to work, and who make a far less valuable contribution to society. Catherine can have my £1 a year, or whatever I pay. She brings me more than £1-worth of cheerfulness in return by turning up and being nice to people. Unlike some.

well I don't want to give a penny to her and she certainkly doesn't give me any "cheerfullness"
I massively resent giving these multimillionaires my money when they have just been born into the position and achieve sod all .
Why are you happy to give them money? It honestly baffles and frustrates me so much that people are so brainwashed that they think such a massively wealthy family deserves any taxpayer money just becuase they wear nice frocks and smile.

Always planning aren't they? never seems to materialise.
Certainly never use their own wealth for anyone but themselves.
William bangs on about homelessness when he can be arsed showing his face,
never heard of such hypocritical nonsense in my life

They perform a public function as Head of State. Any Head of State is a publicly funded role.
