Catherine and William at the Royal Albert Hall tonight. Anne is also in attendance.

She looks good, but the heavy brows are a bit dated. I do get the desire to look like she used to after treatment, just she’s slipping into old fashioned makeup territory.

I don’t think agree that long hair on older women needs to be put up or cut - but agree it doesn’t look natural, presume it’s extensions/part wig and that’s why it all looks a bit much.

overall it was a bit of a 10-15 years ago look, but done well and I completely get wanting to look like you did in your younger years, and it’s easier to mentally move on with clothes than it is with hair and makeup.

Of the two of them, if you didn’t know, you’d say William was the one who was recovering from cancer treatment- he doesn’t look right and has lost a lot of weight from his face.

GetrudeCoppard · 10/11/2024 10:02

Kate looks great, although the makeup was a bit heavy.

Prince Edward looks frail and older than 60. He’s not looked well for a couple of years now.

Conversely, Anne (who must be over 70?) doesn’t seem to age.

NotTram · 10/11/2024 10:39

She looks lovely ☺️

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 10/11/2024 10:58

I still maintain that William is extremely handsome and that it’s his lack of hair that makes people think he isn’t. He always looks dashing when he has a hat on.

I thought the same today when I saw him.

I think the reason Anne doesn't seem to age is massively in part due to the consistent hair style.

Similar to how you don't always notice young kids growing when you're around them all the time - little changes in Anne are harder to see because when you see her you're expecting what she looks like because her look doesn't change, so tiny changes are harder to notice. If that makes sense?

I hardly think saying "I think it looks a bit silly" is ripping anyone to shreds. So much drama.

So dismissive

LadyKenya · 10/11/2024 11:59

Notmoog · 10/11/2024 09:49

hahaha at the not grabby grifters. Have you watched Dispatches recently?

Oh no, that documentary could not possibly be true! I have been astonished at the lack of outrage about it, but it is hardly surprising considering it is the rf, who people will defend to the hilt.

So dismissive

Dismissive of people saying "looks a bit silly" is "ripping them to shreds"? Yes, I'm absolutely dismissive of that kind of hyperbole

I know it's a terribly old-fashioned opinion but I do think long hair starts to look a bit silly on anyone as they get older and I include her (and myself!) in that age bracket.

Im 60. Naturally blonde, long hair, beginning to silver at the temples. It will look glorious when it’s all silver.

Short perm, purple rinse and a screw on hat isn’t really me but each to their own 😁

Anne has terribly sun damaged skin with very deep wrinkles and age-spots (in other photos) and looks years older than any of my friends or family some who are late 60s (she's 74.)

The harsh red lippy is awful .

She's stayed slim but that's all you can say.
Her hairstyle is dreadful and clearly coloured but with some whispy grey bits left at the front.

Having said that she's a hard worker and probably just isn't into her appearance but compared to when she was in her 20s she's almost unrecognisable.

William says his year has been brutal.
Is it any wonder he looks a bit thinner around the face?

Itoldyousoo · 10/11/2024 12:55

I wouldn't choose to comment on someone's make up who has had cancer. I feel it is inappropriate.

Itoldyousoo · 10/11/2024 13:01

LilyBartsHatShop · 10/11/2024 01:17

I don't mind at all women of any age dressing up in a way that looks and feels lovely to them.
It's more of an automatic thing, if someone around my age or older has a long hairdo (including Jane Seymour in that pic) it looks like they're harking back to when they were in their 20s.
Also, there was no compulsion to rinse one's hair blue, back in the day. Women wanted their hair rinsed and set because they thought it made them look lovely, like Marilyn Monroe.

Now that is the most amazing reason ever for a short auld wifie perm 😂

I just honestly can't get behind this thinking. Silly? Why silly? What's the cut off age?

Itoldyousoo · 10/11/2024 13:06

Bixterret · 09/11/2024 21:24

I don't like her look tonight, heavy makeup and hair unnatural. What was she thinking?

Maybe she was thinking this is an important event for the country which I want to attend. She would know that she would be picked apart by people who say. " she doesn't look like she has had cancer", " she didn't really have cancer" or " she only had pre cancerous cells". I would hate to live in these people's bitter worlds.

Bixterret · 10/11/2024 13:08

@Itoldyousoo

Bitter?

Not moi my dear, it was just an observation. Not sure

Itoldyousoo · 10/11/2024 13:09

William is a good looking man but more than that he has a look of kindness and gentleness in his face. He has the look of his mother both when in respect as at the ceremony but also when laughing.

We could all have hair like that through extensions etc. So nothing to be envious or jealous about.

To get hair like Kate’s with extensions you still have to have a good base of hair to start with, i.e your hair has to be strong and thick enough to hold the weight of the double or triple weft extensions, when you have fine hair you can’t wear the heavy double/triple weft extensions because it can cause traction alopecia, you have to have the much lighter weight extensions so to get Kate’s hair is very hard, you would have to use toppers/ weaves/wigs to get the same as Kate with very fine or thin hair.

DappledThings · 10/11/2024 13:16

Itsalwaysfools · 10/11/2024 13:06

I already gave my cut-off age above. About 25. It's only my opinion and entirely unimportant. I think false eyelashes look silly too. And gigantic headbands. And heels of really any type. And wearing all one colour all over. Loads of things. Many people feel otherwise. Neither opinion is important in any grander way.

Havalona · 10/11/2024 14:08

Well that appearance was worth the few billion they have on our behalf anyway.

They all scrub up well IMO, and why wouldn't they - for the Nation.

If asked for an opinion, I'd say Kate's hair is absolutely gorgeous, but to me it's just a tad too long - that's nothing to do with age, it just is a bit too long to me.

BasiliskStare · 10/11/2024 14:09

I wouldn't suggest she has all her hair lopped off or a blue rinse but I do think for the shape of her face she could lose 3 or 4 inches and it might suit her better BUT it her hair and not mine therefore her choice . I suspect she MAY keep it longer so she can put it into a bun / chignon for other occasions. I think that suits her better than the long hair. Again - her hair - her choice.
