Meghans trademark not allowed

The patent office apparently has turned down the trademark of Meghans new jam making business American Riviera Orchard on the grounds that you can't trademark geographical locations. You would have thought somebody would have picked up on this before now.

Nope! A respected US industry magazine

Not the big bad British tabloids.

This has got to sting!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 12/09/2024 23:31

But why is this coming out now?

I wonder what has changed for people to think they can come forward.

Twistybranch · 12/09/2024 23:36

Maybe this is people at Netflix laying the groundworks?

ShamedBySiri · 12/09/2024 23:48

"Would you work for Harry and Meghan? Ex-employees say run away."

Most people wouldn't need the advice of ex-employees. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Run.

Baital · 13/09/2024 04:31

But it's all just racist smears in the British meeja, isn't it? 😂

Newpillow · 13/09/2024 06:35

There'll be a thread on AIBU soon, my husband is fucking off to Ibiza with his mates for his 40th , leaving me to look after the kids .

I wonder if it's the long suffering Doria who's had enough?

Thought this coverage was bizarre about MM dashing out of the bookstore event early because she had to cook her kids tea on a Sunday evening? All v odd - I though she might be avoiding OW.

https://people.com/meghan-markle-makes-quick-exit-bookstore-event-relatable-parenting-moment-8709895

That is indeed strange. She managed to organise not having to get back to cook dinner on the first night of the event. She even had Harry with her. But then she had to get back to personally cook dinner the next day, but Harry was at home? Could they not have organised something for him to warm up in the microwave 🤔. This would seem a failure in a basic feat of organisation 🤷‍♀️

Mymanyellow · 13/09/2024 07:38

She clearly didn’t have to go home to cook tea just an excuse.
Bored probably not enough attention on her.

Of course she didn't need to go home to cook. They obviously have lots of help with the kids as they are away frequently without them so I'm sure the nanny or whoever was looking after the kids would be preparing their meals.

IsoldeWagner · 13/09/2024 07:41

I'm sure that the housekeeper could have prepared something. I'd be surprised if they didn't employ a cook.

Twistybranch · 13/09/2024 07:45

I hope the other news outlets pick up in the Hollywood reporter piece in her.

I mean it’s so damning

MrsFinkelstein · 13/09/2024 09:10

The Hollywood Reporter piece (though it is in their version of the gossip column) does back up the reporting by Valentine Low and Tom Bower.

The treatment of the Palace staff, the treatment of the staff at the Reitmans shoot. And Harry enabling her "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets".

tbh, it all sounds like someone desperately unhappy and struggling to cope IMO.

This can't be healthy for either of them.

Can only go for so long before someone goes on record or there’s audio or video leaked

Imagine one of those undercover reporter stings like when someome takes a job in a care home.....

Who cooks for those children while H&M are on one of their many jaunts by private jet?

Why couldn't Harry rustle up some beans on toast for them, he wasn't at the bookstore. AIBU: My husband is a useless provider and leaves it up me to come up with ways to keep us financially afloat. I had a really excellent networking opportunity with some real movers and shakers who could help me with some business ventures, but I had to leave early to make the children dinner. AIBU to think my useless husband could have stepped in to see to the kids' meal just this once?

Americanpseudoroyaltorture · 13/09/2024 09:36

I think she rushed out because she was humiliated. The night before she was legitimised by Harry's presence. This evening, Oprah's arse interrupted her in full flow - she was giving a Julia Roberts in Notting Hill anecdote about being so famous and recogniseable and in need of spiritual comfort in NY and taking refuge in a book shop - and MM's mask slipped and the displeasure showed. I think she realised she's not that wanted or important without him.

Remember Sophie Wessex got caught out with the fake sheikh all those years ago, so you never know

It’s unsustainable that given the level of attention that’s on them, that they can keep bad behaviour hidden.
It must be so well known around Hollywood by now, if there’s enough info to take it to print! More info to make you think Netflix won’t be renewed. They worked with them for 4 years, so they must have seen it all. Spotify didn’t even last the full contract.

5starzz · 13/09/2024 09:40

'Kiss up, Kick down' is the classic vile two faced behaviour that has got her so far as the people she has charmed dont know or see the otherside. Both faces are disingenous and self serving.

Mymanyellow · 13/09/2024 10:38

Surely Harry can see what we all see. Maybe he doesn’t want to admit he’s made the mistake of his life. Maybe he’s just as bad and the men in grey suits that he so despises have protected him. Probably a bit of both.

ShamedBySiri · 13/09/2024 11:18

These reports about staff are all about admin/PR type staff.
We don't hear anything from the housekeepers,Nannie's and gardeners.
I wonder if there is a high turnover of domestic staff as well.
Poor housekeeping staff in Hollywood probably just view unreasonable employers as an occupational hazard and are too desperate and cowed to be able to do anything about it. The next employer might be even worse.

There was the nanny who Harry was happy to smear in Spare, describing how she was sent packing in the middle of a night shift soon after Archie was born. I suppose at least as she wasn't named hopefully her career didn't suffer.

Wonder what her shocking crime was. Dozing in a chair while Archie slept? Letting Archie cry a little to see if he would settle?
Having a quick fag? 🚬 (I jest obviously).

But I imagine domestic staff have an equally hard job.

Domestic staff will be far more needing of their job than a high powered executive. Many probably accept it as their lot to have tyrannical bosses unfortunately.

Also as long as they keep their heads down and clean well etc they’re probably invisible to people like them anyway.

I’d love a video leaked of how they really are behind closed doors.

Thedom · 13/09/2024 11:58

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest, if there is another revolving door of household staff, in fact I would be surprised if it was the opposite.

We will never know it though as they don't have any public profile so their departures will never be noticed,, and again they will have watertight NDA's that would probably scare the living daylights out of them should they even think of whispering a word.

This is an interesting development in the saga isn't it? How odd. Giving an excuse after learning their lesson about leaving other events early when the event was still going on. "The kids" are always something that is trotted out either that smile that says they are just THE best in the world. Meghan, everyone thinks that about their own kids. It gets boring. " The kids" were here opening line when she arrived late to Invictus. At least they are getting higher prominence than her letter to P and G. Once she had had the microphone that was it ? I would have been desperate to network if in her place . Does she think " give them less and they will want more"? It's just all very bizarre but will have been planned.
