Harry in UK for funeral

DM is reporting Harry came to the UK for the funeral of his uncle Robert Fellowes. The husband of Diana's sister Lady Jane. Apparently they kept their distance from each other and didn't speak. Looks like William has the Windsor habit of bearing grudges. Don't blame him in this case.

I think this has been discredited - and I hope it doesn't happen! I can't see the Spencers wanting to antagonise William and Catherine by doing that - it would really be seen to be taking sides. I can't think why they would be 'anti-William', since he is also Diana's son.

And I think Christmas with Meghan would drive them all over the edge...

Quite - and how about living privately and within the enormous wealth they already have through legacies, trusts and from Netflix etc? Only joking! I know Meghan could never manage to live privately. She's like a vampire: if she doesn't get her regular dose of publicity and adulation she will wither away to a shadow.

True! Can you imagine Meghan not seeking the limelight? It's dominated her adult life. It's what she is. That's never going to change.

I'm confused. When does he ever spend time with his kids? He's too busy traveling, accepting awards, in court, or playing polo. He is out of Montecito for much of the time.

So it turns out I owe Harry an apology. I have misjudged him - he is indeed foolish enough to speak directly to the press without going through his communications team

People magazine have today published a puff piece about Harry’s upcoming 50th birthday. In it they expressly quote from an email sent to them by Harry. Eyebrows were raised online at this clear admission that Harry is in direct contact with them, and it swiftly was changed to say Harry had responded to an email they sent him. But now, hilariously, it says a spokesman for Harry had responded to them.

So, People magazine have dropped the ball and confirmed what we all suspected - Harry (and his wife) are in direct contact with certain media outlets, they themselves are the ones leaking like a sieve.

Credit where it’s due though, it’s probably one of only a very few things they have been quite successful at.😁

So Harry saw Catherine and William getting a lot of internet love and emailed People magazine with a passive aggressive message about keeping his kids out of the limelight?

Does anyone really care about seeing their kids? I don’t. I don’t really care about seeing the Wales kids either, but as George will be King one day it seems a good way to introduce them to publicity.

I quite like seeing the royal kids - it's a bit like seeing a former work colleagues' children on their annual first day of school photos. It gives you that little 'passage of time' nostalgia even though you don't think about them between the yearly Facebook post.

I think William and Kate's strategy with their kids has been about as good as it could have possibly been so far. They have dealt with the press need for regular pics without needing to subject them to those awful press bank photo calls that William and Harry had to do. And they've gradually eased them into being in front of the public without being overwhelmed.

Sorry, but bullshit. He's kept his kids out of the public sphere unless he's been able to monetise them. He monetised them in the Netflix doc and he monetised Archie in Spare. He monetised talking about them on Colbert, with ABC. His wife monetises them every time she inserts them into her word salad in her pay to play platforms. Being seen is not synonymous with and being exploited; and conversely, being the children who have been invisible and don't seem to live a normal life within the circumstances in which they are growing up in not synonymous with love and protection.

Absolutely, Pineapples, they were quite happy to show Archie in the bath on Netflix, and issue pictures for Lilibet's 1st birthday because the other royals kids were getting attention at the Jubilee celebration. Hypocrites.

I wonder if Harry authorised People to say he had emailed them ?
I was just reading about his 40th birthday plans so it seems that his desire for privacy and his obsession about security only applies in the U.K. ?
The DM is mentioning his 30th birthday celebrations in Vegas but also the black tie dinner that William threw for him which - strangely- Harry doesn’t mention in Spare .
Wonder who the close friends are who are going on holiday with him ?

After all it was proved they were helping Scobie, so why not People magazine or anyone else who they think will deliver the message they prefer?

Edited to add that the real mistake may have been in People making this so obvious. It seems their editorial team isn't good enough to have kept it hidden, so maybe they too will go the way of Scobie and it'll be someone else's turn next
