Harry in UK for funeral

DM is reporting Harry came to the UK for the funeral of his uncle Robert Fellowes. The husband of Diana's sister Lady Jane. Apparently they kept their distance from each other and didn't speak. Looks like William has the Windsor habit of bearing grudges. Don't blame him in this case.

Also, Invictus is where she can parade her wardrobe, it's a good opportunity for her.

I think this is possibly their next iteration of their much wanted half in/half out.

H being pushed as some sort of quasi 'statesman' using his Royal Prince title to open a few doors and gain a bit of platform, while M works on trying to build some sort of commercial presence.

A kind of half in / half out, with Harry being the 'in' and Meghan working on the 'out'.

The working couple thing has not worked out, they need to find something else to try.

It's so cringeworthy - how can she not look at it and be embarrassed? As they say though she thinks she looks great and doesn't see the reality that everyone else does. I watched a reel about it today and they say it's connected to not having a mother figure during her childhood and having her father bring her main support.

A short video montage of Harry mixing with his mother's family at the Spencer funeral show him to be relaxed and happy, laughing and smiling like the Harry of old. No fear of the claw, of being elbowed away, or being the spare.

I'm glad that he reconnected with the Spencers, even briefly. What a shame it's gone this way. He's been a fool, but it's still a shame.

I've had a quick look on TT and i think its footage from the Invictus anniversary but with text relating to the memorial?

Oh that makes more sense, would be horrendous to discover moments from a private memorial had been leaked just to show Harry was happy and relaxed and enjoying himself with his bereaved family 😯.

Strange how things need to be 'mocked up' to somehow try to prove H is happy, bit like the mock up of the hordes of paparazzi and the mock up of the UK headlines, which never existed.

Yes - I don't claim to know the ins and outs of the Spencers' relationship with Harry and William, but I hope they are not taking sides with one brother against another. I know that they (or at least, Charles Spencer) had a beef with the RF, but that was mainly against KC. It would be very unkind and also a bad strategy for the future if they were to make an enemy of William, who is also Diana's son and hasn't done anything to justify them taking against him.

I hope they'll remain neutral and not throw their lot in with Harry and Meghan - this would be very hurtful to William and Catherine.

Any footage I have seen of Harry from this funeral is old footage from the Invictus memorial. He was wearing these decorations.

He's wearing his 'knighthood' which, retrospectively, seems ill-deserved.

It makes his behaviour toward the late sovereign in her final years look even more grotesque. And yet still he's flashing his blag bling in church services.

It's good for Harry to have at least one branch of his family with whom he is able to maintain a relationship. No doubt trips to Althorp have a special significance given it was his mother's childhood home as well as her burial place. But I wonder if it feeds his obsession with his mother ( and Meghan's if she also visits). Maybe his interest is less with his relatives and more with the place. I wonder what guests the Earl will have at Christmas given he's just ditched another wife and didn't attend the weddings of two of his daughters. Presumably he still maintains contact with some of the other children.

Earl spencer now has a new girlfriend too.

I was also pondering who might be at Althorp for Christmas. I assume that the Fellowes and McQuorquadales have their own family celebrations rather than coming to Althorp, but maybe they do? The Earl and his family were based in South Africa for many years - he may well normally have been there rather than in the UK?
