Anyone watching this? It's on My5. I thought the first episode was interesting. I was reminded of how popular they were and how much support they got.

I do sometimes wonder, @IsoldeWagner ,if the press are trying to poke the RF into retaliating and/or putting the record straight through their own "tell all" interview or an official book? The goady fuckers! It's much more profitable for them to keep the drama going than try to do some comprehensive fact checking of their own. So much for journalism. Leave it to the YouTubers and the "hater" mumsnetters like us to say it instead.

IsoldeWagner · 19/08/2024 17:09

You have a point, @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar . I remember recently someone starting a thread about the Sussex lies. Not doubtful comments, absolutely proven lies. It went on for 4 threads! Some I'd forgotten about, some I didn't know about. It was crazy.

Talking of which - nothing in the C5 documentary about people dancing in the streets of South Africa when Meghan wed Harry! 😂

Nastiness? Oh yes, everyone can call a mother (Meghan) all the names under the sun including racial comments about her and her children, and accuse her of unsubstantiated behavior but William and Kate are untouchable? And innocent of everything!
Fergie, Diana, and Charles all did interviews and admitted affairs, etc.
HM dish the dirt and everyone's upsettsy wetsy, diddums!
I hope they dish more, brilliant tv!

You mean you hope they shit more lies on tragic TV .

IsoldeWagner · 19/08/2024 17:25

I've just read the first page of the top one, to sample, and most people are supportive of Meghan?

We all make the odd typo but...

I'm going to say it: I think it's bleedin' obvious that most H & M supporters are dim souls with poor literacy and reasoning skills. Oh, and no capacity for critical thinking.

No mystery as to the reason. H & M are so ridiculous now that only the dimmest, daftest, Disney-princess fantasists can stomach them.

Judging someone's intelligence on typos or punctuation on an anonymous forum thay really let's face it is just for alot of people a way to kill time is just a person's way to make themselves feel superior. Oh loo kat me how I don't make any typos or punctuation or grammar mistakes.im so much more intelligent. No it just means you take more time to make sure it's correct whereas others like me are just typing fast whilst we are on a boring commute and dont bother to proof read cos we just hit post cos it's just not that big of a deal I'm not posting to win some literary award but damn right when I so my job it's all correct because it matters more and I'm paid to.

So enjoy sitting on your self proclaimed smug perch that your intelligent and others aren't. Enjoy spendinf you time checking my post for typos...

There are very few threads left on MN from the time of Harry and Meghan's wedding. Most were deleted because of the racism and insults.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_royal_family/3277779-Meghan-and-the-Queen

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_royal_family/3247778-meghan-markle-s-family-are-horrendous

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_royal_family/3271558-harry-and-meghan-honeymooning-in-ireland

These are some of the few posts remaining. I could not even find any still there about the wedding.

When there's a really big event, threads tend to escape from the topic; so you really need to look in chat and AIBU as well.

Yes, threads were very happy and optimistic back then.

And if this documentary is reminding people of the huge "welcome" mat, then I think that's a good thing. They were immensely popular, and Meghan received attentions from the RF (such as a Sandringham invitation) that had never been extended to any fiancee before.

They are about the only posts still left at the time of their wedding. The rest were deleted.

lousy etc., etc.

I wouldn’t fancy a job where one has to commute all day every day and at every hour.

Just as well public transport has wi-fi. You’d have to do most of your work on the move.

I utterly loved Kath & Kim.

Useful for passing time on a commute too.

Well, surely it's good that they were deleted?
Did you see the C5 documentary? They had a lot of support and were popular at the time of the wedding..

They did. In fact didn't Harry claim they were far more popular than the fuddy, duddy royals who couldn't compete with Meghan’s astonishing star power and how she completely outshone everyone else and everyone came and cheered for them. Or something.

Can't have it both ways.

IsoldeWagner · 19/08/2024 17:47

Good points, @WinnieTheW0rm . I think we saw on the documentary just how popular they were, and how much support they had.

I didn't post about the wedding/around that time but had I done, I would have said is that it was beautiful (me and v unsentimental DH started crying simultaneously as she walked up the aisle) and being very glad that Harry had found happiness with someone with substance (DH loved Suits!) The work with the Grenfell kitchen etc was fantastic and it looked like they were going to do great things. Doria seemed lovely and Meghan a total asset to the RF.

Several years on, I feel differently because of what they have said and done themselves. I believe Harry is far, far from being a precious prince somehow stolen from us by Meghan but in fact the main architect of the whole sorry state of affairs.

I can well believe that there were racist death threats and that is appalling, and TBH I had some sympathy with Harry's paranoia around protection and his family, until (again) some contradictory actions on their part, like moving to a country with deplorable gun laws and certain recent trips.

I don't know how many times people posting here who are critical of H &M have to reiterate that it is because of their actions and words rather than a dislike of Meghan because she is black. I was bloody thrilled when he married her and still have a folorn hope that the daft pair can make peace with the RF, although sadly, that ship may have sailed.

As do lots of other people who also have full time jobs to go to to keep the money coming in otherwise they would lose the roof over their heads. They don't have the private wealth to pay their bills and day to day spending. So let's not make out that will and kate are having to cope with a huge workload when they don't, they even have staff to help them manage alot of it as well

No matter how much money someone has, the effects of illness are (like service!!) universal. It's not necessary or kind to carp at and belittle what the family is going through. It's not their fault they're wealthy and others are not.

jeffgoldblum · 19/08/2024 17:51

I'm confused at all the old posts , what are they for?
What are they proof of?

Serenster · 19/08/2024 17:53

If people on here don't think the RF doesn't control the press, how come there has not been one documentary on Camilla?

Seriously? There’s been loads, as a simple google search would tell you. On just Channel 5 for example here’s recently been:

Queen Camilla: For King and Country
Charles & Camilla: Controversy and the Crown
Inside Royalty: Three’s a Crowd
Charles and Camilla: Against All Odds
Camilla Queen Consort: Love and Duty

etc etc etc…

Runnerinthenight · 19/08/2024 17:55

Spectre8 · 19/08/2024 12:01

I don't know any family who have both stopped working, either one is full time or at the very least part time working. Because lost people cant afford to both not be working. It's a privilege if you can both stop working and still be able to pay your bills, pay for activities, go on holidays etc whilst raising your children up. Plenty of people raise secure kids whilst doing some form of work and are still present for their children

Also William is not forced to work until he drops dead, don't be so dramatic and hyperbolic over it. He can hand over the reigns and step back just like Queen could have but she chose not to. It's a choice!

Oh do give over!

jeffgoldblum · 19/08/2024 17:51

My guess is that they're aimed at giving an unrepresentative sample, so the assertion that there are hardly any remaining (because they were deleted for nastiness and racism) goes unchallenged.

IsoldeWagner · 19/08/2024 17:55

Thanks, @Serenster . It's extraordinary that people actually believe this....
I think if the RF "controlled the media" (sic), they would want far more favourable coverage than they actually get!
