"the news outlets won't leave her alone" ....she wants to be left alone?!

Of course she does ... left alone by those outlets who shine a light on what she and H are REALLY like - she just wants her own message of how amazing and world leading in everything woke or everything that may be popular today

Understood! It really is extraordinary how anyone who sets themselves up in such a controversial way is surprised when the press isn't 100% sycophantic! 😂

Wellieswithsocks · 05/08/2024 20:34

Everything they do is motivated by venal self-interest, but this latest scheme really takes the cake: they are contriving to align themselves with vulnerable parents who are genuine victims of suicide. Worse, they are essentially using these victims to promote and protect themselves!

Harry and Meghan’s attempt to be bigger stars than the Cambridge’s/Wales’ failed, so they left to make it on their own.

Their attempts to make it on their on failed - so they tried to reconcile with the royal family.

Their attempt at reconciliation failed, so they’ve raked up the most dramatic explanation for the fact the royals want nothing to do with them (remember the royals were mean and Meghan was driven to suicide!) to disguise the fact that they have been well and truly shunned.

Their attempts to be content creators failed, so they’ve resorted to being interviewed on topics they know little about as ersatz royals - expensively dressed and glossy - but without any of the charm, humility or grace of the real thing.

Finally, those lawsuits to shut down all criticism of themselves in the media failed - so they’ve renewed their campaign to censor commentary online.

They are so transparent- frankly this latest episode might almost be funny if it weren’t for the fact that the parents of dead children are being drawn into the fray. Just contemptible.

Interview transcript -

Interviewer - Hello

Megan - me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, I'm a victim, me, me, me ...

Harry - 'some kind of petulant whining sound.'

😂😂😂

I knew I recognized the interviewer from somewhere - she did a fascinating interview with Madonna back in 1986. I genuinely can’t decide whether it was a brilliant interview or awkward as hell.

Either way, the dynamic is very interesting and it’s highly worth a watch.

Sorry for the derail, but I never realised that Meghan was on the cover of the Grenfell community cookbook. Even in the early days, it shows a lack of understanding of the RF.

Nice article.

Meanwhile, the richest man in the world refers to the inevitability of civil war on our streets. Considering he is responsible for running X Twitter which carries a shedload of questionable posts then he should be the first person held accountable for giving a platform to anyone who incites violence. Whether that be EDL and the so called English ‘patriots’, some Sussex Squad posters etc. Whatever happened to the art of civil discourse.

Harry and Meghan finally make right call - and its about time critics admit it

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made the right decision to focus on a topic close to their hearts, writes Express reporter Lauren Welch.

They're not 'allowed' to be working royals because they stepped away because they couldn't cash in on it.... yet they try their hardest to do that! In Nigeria the British diplomat had to ensure that was aired - yet there they were, in their full prince and princessy-ness reaping all the arse kissing they could - clumsily treading and stumbling over those wise enough to know what they were up to by massaging their egos and faux laughter/graciousness

Allowed? He is royal and so is she. Get over it.

In a nutshell. They are royal and enjoy the status, privilege and titles. Theirs is a very royal lifestyle. That's how they live and will continue to do so.

@elprup thank you for posting the Madonna interview. Fascinating. I wonder if Meghan had seen it (?)

I thought it was interesting in the M & H interview that M shows some particular discomfort about not being ‘believed’.

I think it’s a shame further meetings will be online re: bereaved parents, whilst convenient, community & connection offer much more comfort.

User14March · 06/08/2024 07:38

Jane’s comment ‘nice to see you touch your husband’s leg as I knew you would’ is Dame Edna reminiscent. M looks steely.

@PoppysAunt @Sunnydaysandthebeach
They're not allowed to play royals though on behalf of the RF, they stepped away, anything they do isn't on the RF behalf which would be why the diplomat in Nigeria had to remind people

Yes, I agree. They chose not to be full time working royals as part of the official organisation. My point is that they haven't rejected being royal - far from it! - what they've rejected is being part of the official royal family.
They're still very royal, noticably on the tour of Nigeria.

I'm having visions of Dame Edna interviewing H&M and it would be glorious!

I genuinely don't think Meghan has much of a sense of humour - she certainly can't laugh at herself. That's very likely cultural - the US vs UK can be diametrically opposite in terms of humour, and Meghan is very "Californian" and takes herself very seriously IMO. Harry I now realise is the same.

It reminds me of H&M slightly stoney faced at the RVP when Greg Davies did his lovely song about Grans, compared to William & also Charles in stitches at Tom Allen and the late great Dame Edna.

User14March · 06/08/2024 07:57

LaMarschallin · 06/08/2024 07:58

PoppysAunt

In what way were they "very royal" in Nigeria?
The Nigerians went along with pretending it was a royal trip but it wasn't, it was purely a Harry and Meghan trip.
A royal trip would be on behalf of the UK; they were there on behalf of themselves.
They went on about Invictus but it was vanishingly unlikely that Nigeria would get to host the games and it's a shame if Nigeria spent a lot of money believing they might.

PoppysAunt · 06/08/2024 08:01

@LaMarschallin I agree. It seemed to me to be royal because of the way they were greeted and presented themselves, the National Anthem was played etc.
What were the optics? A royal couple visiting and being feted, just as they want.

FloofPaws · 06/08/2024 08:05

@PoppysAunt - they would never reject the royalty status ... but it's more that the RF/firm have rejected them from using their royal status for personal gain effectively ... yet they do that persistently unfortunately

PoppysAunt · 06/08/2024 08:06

@FloofPaws - indeed. What are they without it? Seriously?
They owe everything to Harry's status. That's their selling point.

FloofPaws · 06/08/2024 08:10

Indeed @PoppysAunt - he's very unemployable and frankly thick as a post, she's a z list actress .. so they have to resort to gossip, lies and grifting off Harry's family ties

Nobody clicks on the daily mail here

Why not?

Kebarbra · 06/08/2024 08:14

I do think though if they had moved to Cali but not smeared his family with proven lies and based their 'careers' off of this they could have been pretty popular and successful I reckon. They had a gold plated platform handed to them, lots of opportunities also handed on a plate and yet somehow messed them all up. A lot of celebrities don't want to mix with them now because he's written about private events in his book like Courtney's party, and they value privacy amongst friends, Hollywood is a lot about who you know. People would have also been excited to see them come back for events as well even as none working Royals. Whatever narrative has been spun reality is when they got married they were both popular and plenty of people were excited and enjoyed celebrating. It simply isn't the case that she was hated from the outset, albeit there were some nasty articles written these were rightly condemned. Their behaviour and proven lies have led them here.

QueenofTheBorg · 06/08/2024 08:36

It's yet another poorly thought through, badly executed project from them.

As someone said, what about GDPR? What about guidelines from The Samaritans?

And as for the "best first responders in the world" comment, wtaf? He really is as thick as two short planks and I think he's got Stockholm syndrome.

PoppysAunt · 06/08/2024 08:38

You're right, @Kebarbra . Amazing opportunities, squandered.
