Kensington Palace have released a new photo of William and the children to mark his 42nd birthday. The photo was taken by Catherine.

Honestly I think this is one of my favourite photos of the family!

NoideawhatIam, They aren’t as high as they look. I’ve taken a similar style photo of my niece on a swing. It looks like she’s really very high but really it was because I was crouched down looking up, when I took the shot.

They all look very happy. A really nice photo.

It's a fantastic photo and looks like a similar beach to the Fathers Day photo was taken - lovely golden sand and marram grass. The PoW is clearly a very competent photographer and has a great eye for composition. It shows a lovely family having a great day. I wouldn't say it was photoshopped at all, I imagine Catherine would be lying on her tum on the beach - the look on Louis' face suggests there might have been a bit of a drop!

The grass and arguably sky are definately photoshopped but who cares? It's a lovely happy photo.

There's no way they would release a photoshopped picture after what happened before. It's 100% real.

Lovely photo - and what great legs all round!

Hope that vegetation in the foreground was softer than it looks...

Taken in Norfolk, I know what those plants are like, and they cut like knives!

That grass is common on East of England sand dunes, and we do get pretty skies occasionally too

That is a cracking photo.

In the fullness of time future generations will be shown a fascinating social history of the current royals, thanks to Kate’s talents for photography. Way beyond any insights we’ve ever had before.

Contrast pics like this with ones showing Charles playing football with toddler William while wearing a double breasted suit!

Actually I wondered if Kate’s photo was a deliberate callback to images of young Princess Charles and Princess Anne jumping similarly from sand dune in Norfolk that were released by the Queen. This picture of William and his children is very similar - just taken from a different angle!

Similar dunes in N Devon and can confirm about the grasses.

Doesn't it just!

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 21/06/2024 13:01

What a lovely picture. If the Queen gig doesn't work out Catherine could definitely make a good portrait photographer 😂

Dabralor · 21/06/2024 13:02

Lovely pic, but I don't understand the physics. Do posh people jump high?

Where is the grass?

Am confused.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 21/06/2024 13:04

I think it's just clever use of perspective

They are jumping down a sand dune. If Catherine is low down beneath them, she can easily get this angle. Hopefully the dune grass is behind then as its really sharp.

Rubbish. We have taken many similar shots over the years. That's what parts of the British coast look like.

If you look at the photos I posted taken of Prince Charles as a young boy jumping off the sand dunes, you’ll understand the physics. They are jumping off the top of a dune down a vertical drop (probably just a couple of meters high) onto the sand at the base of the dune. The grass is on top of the dune they have just jumped off.

Charles has been shot from the side, William and family from below as they jump.

Great photo of William and the children. I thought we were going to have a quiet one this weekend as things seemed to have died down this week, but the Sussex lot will go in to a frenzy now. Brace yourselves for all sorts of bonkers threads 😂

I love it when the the Guards jazz the music up 💃🏼

Vespanest · 21/06/2024 13:47

You can see the physics by the fact you can see the sole of Williams foot, that is only possible if you are underneath the object. I have similar photos of my children jumping in the pool, the fact I was lying down exaggerated the height that my children achieved.

LightSpeeds · 21/06/2024 13:49

Love it 😻

Gorgonemilezola · 21/06/2024 13:53

What a wonderful photo. I think hope Kate is doing a leetle bit of trolling.....

IcedPurple · 21/06/2024 13:58

It's a great photo.

Are we sure that Kate took it? There seems to be no photographer credit.

cyclamenqueen · 21/06/2024 14:03

Pretty sure that’s Wells or Brancaster , lots of sand dunes hummocks to jump down from , we have similar pictures off our dc jumping . They have beach hut in the dunes.
