Kensington Palace have released a new photo of William and the children to mark his 42nd birthday. The photo was taken by Catherine.

Honestly I think this is one of my favourite photos of the family!

So this was an attempt at jocularity?
Right. Thanks for the clarification.

You're most welcome.

Or, it was a happy family moment snapped by Kate.
You've obviously never met children if you think they'd do that hundreds of times. Why are you being so negative and unpleasant about a family photograph? Why does it bother you?
It's got under your skin like a burr under a saddle.

Quite entertaining to watch them fuming, though. Also the attempts to get us all riled up.

Some people's cortisol levels must be through the roof.

Jocular. Right.

IsoldeWagner · 21/06/2024 18:56

What, Arcane, aren't your sides splitting?

IsoldeWagner · 21/06/2024 18:57

I think some people are jealous of the Wales family, aren't they?

because I think it is so unfair that these children have to spend their time doing multiple shoots to produce media worthy photos, rather than just being themselves, and doing their own thing, and all worship of them is unhealthy, and damaging to them.

The children in the commercial picture would have applied for modelling work, and been paid for their time. The children in the "royal" picture probably had no choice at all, that was going to be how they spent their afternoon, whether they wanted to or not.

Its not an acceptable way to treat children, imo

PracticallyYesterday · 21/06/2024 18:58

Cannot win with you folk; I've given a fairly favourable opinion of this picture and you're still not happy.

boombang · 21/06/2024 18:58

This is a thread about a photo. I am entitled to give my opinion of the photo.

I think it is horrible.

I hate it

IsoldeWagner · 21/06/2024 18:59

Ah, here we have it: hate
Why the hate? Is it because they're happy?

You have no idea. Have you met children?
It was not multiple shoots.

Genuine question:

Why are Charlotte’s shorts shorter than the boys?

She's had a bit of a growth spurt and her Mum's like 'Oh, they' ll do another year.'

boombang · 21/06/2024 19:01

and by the way, nobody, but nobody is going to snatch up a camera already set up and primed, and snap anything like this on the spur of the moment, in this environment, ever, for one very good reason, they are in sand dunes.

Sand is lethal to cameras. You wrap them up carefully, you plan if and when to take them out, you plan and choose the distance you need to be to keep your equipment safe from moving sand, you make sure your subjects know where and how to move - nothing spontaneous about this at all

IsoldeWagner · 21/06/2024 19:01

"not an acceptable way to treat children" 😂
Imagine having fun in the dunes and on a beach with a loving family!
The horror! 😃😂

Have you actually taken any photos of children on a beach? Or seen any?
Millions are taken. Every year.
The millions of children are not living lives of torment, the Leica not ruined.

That is what I am saying, I very much expect that it was.

I very much expect it was not.

Vespanest · 21/06/2024 19:07

Thank god my children are now adults as I’d be up for social services. Most of my photographs were action shots. Jumping in pools, scuba, even sand dunes, rolling down hills, abseiling etc. my poor kids

I was thinking more Gollum.

I was thinking Old Man Steptoe. That's the mental image I have.

Oh my god! You terrible parent! Just like millions of others, taking lovely pictures of happy children!
They should all be taken into care. Their parents sent to a labour camp

ArcaneWireless · 21/06/2024 19:09

You should be in the stocks with my parents vespanest 😘

headstone · 21/06/2024 19:10

Look I’m sure Kate has some amazing and interesting photos in her private collection. I’m just not very keen on these very bland instagram type photos that are given out for the plebs. Obviously though some adore these types of photo.

boombang · 21/06/2024 19:10

IsoldeWagner · 21/06/2024 19:06

Then I expect I have had a lot more experience of photography than you. NO WAY was that taken in less than 10 attempts
