I wonder how Harry feels about the whole thing being about Meghan? Does he ever pause to reflect ?

Well, he didn't look too happy as M is being appointed a Nigerian Royal. I wonder what is going through his mind !.

Do you think they will ever set foot in Nigeria again?

I didn’t think he looked at ease towards the end of the ‘tour’, whereas she definitely did look very smug. She just seems to manipulate every situation to her own advantage wherever she goes, and no one challenges her. It’s extraordinary.

I honestly can’t work it out. It went from starting with attending an invictus training session the quickly became the Megan show, the vast majority of the trip was about promoting Megan, absolutely nothing to do with invictus, Harry was a side act. She clearly behaved like she thought she was the star and it was all about her.

the whole dynamic is hard to fathom. I guess for him as long as she’s happy it makes his life easier, and it’s obvious this sort of contrived controlled adulation is what she wants.

if they want it again, they will need to go back to Nigeria, if Nigeria will habe them, the cost will have been huge, as I can’t see anywhere else having them and behaving like this.

Thedom · 14/05/2024 07:25

I wonder if they will ?.

Maybe they could move their charity from Delaware to Abuja, that would give them plenty of opportunities to visit. I wonder if Nigerian Royals are protected from financial scrutiny?

Thedom · 14/05/2024 07:29

That cover photo is such a nice photo of both of them

ThePoshUns · 14/05/2024 07:30

It is an absolute car crash and so entertaining to watch. They are a pair of fools.

Tlolljs · 14/05/2024 07:34

I’ve got everything crossed for the Princess of Wales already anyway. But I really can’t wait for her to be well enough to resume her royal duties she will knock these two avaricious, self serving pair of clowns into next week.

notimagain · 14/05/2024 07:37

@JJathome

it is just a very odd situation, that invictus directors or trustees are unable to stop Megan using the platform to self promote, and allow her to detract from the games themselves. And pay the bill at the end of the day, taking the money from the veterans themselves.

I guess it’s possible those at the top of Invictus, if so minded, will look at the press coverage, see that Invictus got more mentions in the MSM in passing in the last three days than it probably gets in the average year and think job done, certainly from a brand awareness POV.

What the visit has done to the finances who knows, and those lower down the food chain aren’t going to be quite as forgiving.

thecatsthecats · 14/05/2024 07:39

I'm not sure being made a Nigerian Princess is a great idea given the association between Nigerian royalty and grifting...

Thedom · 14/05/2024 07:42

This is an interesting read, BBC report from 2020.

"From emirs to kings, Nigeria's traditional rulers are increasingly being humiliated by politicians - and mocked by young people who see them as representing an archaic institution."

"No-one knows the number of monarchs in multi-ethnic Nigeria but there seems to be one ruling over every inch of land"

I have been accused ( more than once) of being a “ hater” . I am not . I don’t know them as people but I observe their behaviour and i feel a mixture of disgust and fascination.
How can 2 people with access to so much wealth and ( presumably) high class advice get it wrong so often ?
Meghan’s clothes - very expensive but inappropriate and ill fitting. If she can take a hairdresser with her why can’t she take someone to help her choose suitable clothes ?
As for Harry , did he learn absolutely nothing about the Duke of Windsor shitshow ?

twinklystar23 · 14/05/2024 07:52

Is it right to be concerned that H&M are stepping into highly sensitive territory due to the political situation in Nigeria. We know that they were invited by the Nigerian military (with a bad human rights record) and not so much the democratically elected Nigerian government. Would I be correct in thinking that Russia and China are backing the Nigerian military in some way? As there have been many actions that Russia and China are active in to disrupt western democracy. Is this a way of using H&M western appeal to legitimise or to disrupt the (fledgling?) Nigerian government? It would also make sense that KC wouldn't see Harry even for a 30 minute meeting (as he had done previously ) so there could be no way of legitimising this tour. I have often thought there may be people with bad intentions behind H&M with their own agenda.

This hits the nail on the head. It's unlikely tho that they'd be able to recreate this experience as the Nigerian elite or any other local African elite won't be too happy about such attention grabbing from a random couple. Which makes me think this whole thing was orchestrated by external interests 👀.

Meghan and harry are a brand that most people and organisations won't touch with a barge pole. Perhaps those with trouble making intentions find this particular brand useful. I'd imagine the US are keeping an eye on these two too. Cosying up with the Nigerian military and having an ostentatious ball in a corrupt regime that is being eyed up by Russian and Chinese interests, Harry might find that he bit off more than he can chew.

Meghan on the other hand is taking it ALL in her stride, isn't she.

twinklystar23 · 14/05/2024 07:56

Oh yes and forgot to add to my post the resources in Nigeria that would be useful to China in respect of development of it's tech industries.

Good point.

Quite likely.

😂maybe completely appropriate?!

No-one knows the number of monarchs in multi-ethnic Nigeria but there seems to be one ruling over every inch of land, often putting them at loggerheads with the politicians who have constitutional authority.

Oh dear.

twinklystar23 · 14/05/2024 08:01

Though she's essentially a British princess by marriage in the UK where the main religion is Christianity and KC being defender of the Christian faith. How can she also be a Muslim princess? What about Harry? It's mind boggling looking forward to replies but have to go to work now!

twinklystar23 · 14/05/2024 08:03

Thanks for your response myfunnyDuckduck hopefully someone will be along with more knowledge on the subject

If Nigeria is close to China and Russian military, I wonder if they too use the practice of Kompromat?

ShamedBySiri · 14/05/2024 08:04

That's interesting about Emma Thynne connections.
I wonder what percentage Nigerian she is.

I’ve said before about external destabilising interests and the Sussexes before as well. These 2 are a liability to the west imo.

twinklystar23 · 14/05/2024 08:06

Thanks Miss Marple do you have any further info? It's all very shady isn't it?
