In this article there is a clip of Meghan being interviewed on a sofa wearing a red dress, and she says something along the lines of "no-one was surprised to discover I was Nigerian because Nigerian qualities are bravery, power, beauty etc"
I know she gets accused of being narcissistic and I've no idea if this is true but she seems so lacking in self awareness.

It souds like the sort of thing you'd say to take the piss out of yourself. Dunno if she's a narc but she sure is grandiose.

i agree, I think it was purposely not submitted while they try to tidy up things which may not be looking so good.

Obviously they don't do the submissions or put the cheque in the post personally, maybe their Archewell staff are so overworked it's still on the 'to-do' list. Anyway, I doubt very much they are unaware of what is going on and the reason for it not being submitted.

So much for attention to detail.

Yes there is clearly a reason as it’s not the cheque got lost in the post as the attorney general statement is very clear they have also not submitted their irs form and the renewal form.

😂She's saying immigrants who have gone onto being successful abroad need to come back home, as in go back to their country of origin to inspire the next generation. Maybe Trump will like her after all.

MyFunnyDuckDuck · 14/05/2024 09:39

She really does seem to love adulation. People who do, always seem to manage to drum up adulation. Framing Nigeria as Meghan's home is an interesting new chapter.

Charles needs to rip the plaster off and remove all titles but he needs to choose his timing well. Hopefully Catherine will recover and be able to resume royal duties before too long. I very much doubt that William has any significant skeletons in the cupboard although Charles may have many. Removing Harry and his family's titles will result in follow up books serving up more damaging content. This might result in Charles abdicating and William taking the throne. I think William will be more popular than Charles and soon enough George, Charlotte and Louis will be adults too and we have a whole new style royal family. Harry really is a has been and his titles need to be removed.

I support our system of constitutional monarchy and have a lot of respect for the working royals. Everyone makes mistakes, it's learning from them that is important and I think Charles learns as do most of them.

If they removed the titles from the Sussexes I would be so disappointed in Charles. But I don't believe it will ever happen. The Duke of Windsor kept his and what he did was bordering on actual treason, not just write a gossipy book, although he did that as well.

There is a lot of heat on social media and in the tabloids but that is about kudos and clicks not facts. Harry does things that are, imo, ill advised and I don't think he is very good at predicting outcomes and consequences but he who he is and the Royal family has had plenty of family members who break ranks in the past and will do so in the future. I think we inflate his importance when we talk about removing titles.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 14/05/2024 09:49

There was talk of the Sussexes moving to Africa at one point early on in their marriage. Maybe it will come to fruition. Harry’s always talked about his love of Africa, and now Meghan has established her roots and own royal status in Nigeria, that would be the obvious destination for them. Discovering more about the country and her own ancestry (as far as she is able through identifying her tribal origins through DNA results) might make for an interesting new project for their Netflix deal. More interesting than polo snyway. Maybe that’s the plan. Leave all their troubles behind and make a fresh start there? Maybe enter politics there? And possibly have their eyes on the head of the Commonwealth position, which is an elected one.

I don't believe Meghan would have any intention of ever moving to Africa. Has she said where the other 57% of her ancestry is from?

I was reading about the King's Trust yesterday. They work in several African countries and have made massive difference to the lives of so many young people there. Seeing criticism of Charles elsewhere for apparently "not liking Africa" when the meaningful, ongoing work continues quietly and successfully. But Meghan, helping nobody but herself, is feted as some great saviour.

Perfectly sums up the style over substance between those two and the actual working royals IMO.

She is an absolutely insufferable narcissist. That ‘panel’ (me-show) was unbearable!

peanutbuttertoasty · 14/05/2024 10:26

Their antics are giving me much renewed respect for the actual working Royals and the real graft they do, and with so much grace for the most part. Shows how skilled they are.

I’d hazard a guess that if their income allows them to stay in CA, or elsewhere in the US maintaining a comfortable lifestyle there is no way the Sussexes will up sticks and move to anywhere in Africa other than just possibly the RSA.

Harry and Megan aren’t moving to Africa, they will stay living close to the a listers, this was all about profile, Megan’s to be precise. I will doubt they will ever set foot in Nigeria again unless invictus is held there.

and now it’s done the “raise Megan’s profile” work has all gone to waste as now the focus is on the fact archewell is a shit show. And their sources are lying and saying the cheque got lost in the post, a /when it’s done electronically and b/ the delinquency statement shows it is also late filing of reports, missing 3 different deadlines.

id actually bet good money it wasn’t filed for a reason and they were hoping folks wouldn’t find out, or they needed time to clear the financials up, as the optics are going to be very very bad. So it was better delinquency than the truth.

StartupRepair · 14/05/2024 10:51

It's almost as if describing yourself as a humanitarian is not enough qualification to run a charity. Especially when the charity has the same name and seems to overlap with a moneymaking venture.

Meghan would never want to live in Africa. She couldn’t adapt to the UK. She wouldn’t want to adapt to any other country She wants to stay in California

edited to add a bit I forgot

Probably north Western Europe mostly, with likely a large chunk from Britain. Not terribly 'cool' these days, and certainly not 'on brand' for Meghan.

And no way would they even consider moving to Africa. I suspect we will hear very little of Nigeria after this, just like Meghan's 'Maltese ancestors' were forgotten rather quickly. It has served it's purpose. On to the next 5 minute wonder.

Yes, it does lead to suspicion that the Nigeria trip was to give them something positive to get ahead of upcoming bad news? Time will tell, I imagine.

Yesterday a clip from the Pride of Britain popped up on my Facebook. There was a young black man who had been able to turn his life around thanks to the Prince's trust who was waiting in a room thinking a journalist was coming to interview him. Prince Charles (as he was then) walked into the room. He was lovely and warm with the young man, trying to put him, praising him for his success and thanking him for his continued work with the trust. He must have met thousands of people through the prince's trust but he was so genuine. It was such a contrast to the me-fest we have seen with M. That is how Charles made the prince's trust. He genuinely wanted to make a difference, put the hard work in and made the people he wanted to help at the centre.

Yes, if anyone saw the repair shop when he was in it, and the support he was giving to people learning long lost skills, he came across as very warm and genuine to be fair

Thedom · 14/05/2024 11:49

Maybe they needed the fees from Nigeria to clear before they could send the cheque 😀.

JSMill · 14/05/2024 11:50

Yes I did watch the Repair Shop! It was also interesting to have a peek at Dumfries House. Apart from restoring a beautiful building, the project created local jobs and provided a resource for the local community. He doesn't get enough credit. Again, all of his achievements have come about because he genuinely cares and puts in the graft to see things through. Obviously I know he doesn't do things single handedly, but he puts the right people in place to make things happen.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 14/05/2024 11:56

The story of how he saved Dumfries House is very impressive. I do like how he has such strong principles and is often very generous in an extremely quiet way.

This is how good is done- not by harping on about every tiny thing that you do and expecting a huge round of applause for it. If you have to promote the good you do then you aren’t doing it for anyone but yourself!

Yes I think he is always very understated, he makes it about the people and not him. The repair shop was a clear example, he used it to give a platform to Dumfries house and the people working there.

megan does the opposite, she takes whatever it is and makes it about her.
