Yes I believe so, I wonder if they knew about this before going to Nigeria

ThePoshUns · 13/05/2024 19:27

I just saw the same. Not sure how credible'Page6' is

pagesix.com/2024/05/13/royal-family/prince-harry-and-meghan-markles-foundation-is-delinquent-california-attorney-general/

ThePoshUns · 13/05/2024 19:28

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity foundation has been declared delinquent and ordered to stop raising or spending money, Page Six can reveal.
The royal duo have let the official registration fees for their charity, Archewell, lapse since at least the beginning of May, according to an official letter from California’s attorney general, Rob Bonta.
The document states that Archewell has been listed as “delinquent” with the registry of charities and fundraisers for failing to submit its annual report and its registration fees.

ThePoshUns · 13/05/2024 19:29

The note adds, “An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.

ThePoshUns · 13/05/2024 19:30

The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”
Archewell now has to submit records to show why its payment is late, and pay late fees.

Not good is it?

This is on X

I suspect that’s easily cured however - like when a UK company gets fined by Companies House for not filing its annual return on time. It takes a quite a while to get to a proper sanction. It’s generally not what you expect from a professionally run organisation, however.

Babybreath · 13/05/2024 19:33

It certainly smacks of someone taking their eye off the ball, definitely a bad look for a charity.

If Trump wins our election, Nigeria is their only option. I can't see the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or India welcoming them gladly.

I wonder if they'll just suck up to Trump in that case and stay.

It's that"attention to detail" thing again, isn't it?

Vespanest · 13/05/2024 19:46

I’m surprised that David Oyelowo has continued with the collaboration with archewell. Maybe all publicity is good publicity. There has probably been quite a few one off donations to GEANCO bigger that the cost of 2500 rucksacks with menstrual products. It probably cost more for archewell to cover James holt in Nigeria than what they have given.

I’m sure the new princess Meghan will be as useful to the people of Nigeria as she is to the good people of Sussex.

🤣🤣🤣

I've just seen this - Meghan and Harry’s Archewell Foundation has been sent a Delinquency Notice.

Error or not it's not a good look.

EdithWeston · 13/05/2024 20:22

The delinquency notice is unfortunate, but it looks like an admin issue (fees not received on time) rather than anything of substance wrong with the Foundation itself

Babybreath · 13/05/2024 20:34

I would still question a charity that can't keep up with admin . I've just found this too

https://www.charitywatch.org/charity-donating-articles/archewell-foundation-charitywatch-rating#:~:text=Archewell%20Foundation%20reports%20about%20%248.3,consists%20of%20cash%20and%20savings.

peanutbuttertoasty · 13/05/2024 20:37

There’s no way they’d leave a project half finished. It must be an error! 🤭

They have multiple warnings, yes they can fix it, they need it file a cure for delinquency notice, but until it’s done and accepted all charitable work is banned. The authorities are also saying that a charity should have a min of five directors as anything smaller doesn’t have the breadth of experience required to run efficiently. Archewell has two.

its really bad timing as they are making big promises, and archewell foundation is currently unable to operate and in bad standing.

An error by who: this isn’t something you just forget to do; they knew it was going into delinquency. They knew it was going to be they had to cease all charitable works and still didn’t file.

I was wondering that as well (although I think Doria is 86%). You'd think they would have extended a warm welcome to the Sussex children as well.

Cheers, my maths is crap!! 🤣🤣🤣

Lifesabeachbaby · 13/05/2024 21:32

Apparently Harry's heritage and family lineage doesn't count for much in comparison with Meghan's ! It's just all so ironic.

The Trump administration let them in in the first place under whatever visa status Harry was holding out. I doubt he’d actually try to throw them out if he gets in again. More likely he will enjoy talking about doing it as a wind up.

Haven’t they effectively been doing charitable work in breach of the prohibition on the Nigeria tour? Some of it was to do with the Archewell partnership with GEANCO. And I wonder if funds have been received or distributed over the period since 3May.

FloofyBear · 13/05/2024 21:38

They botch everything! God knows why MM says she has a ruthless attention to detail (or whatever it is she claims) .. really doesn't look that way in everything they do ... all looks unprofessional and Heath Robinson

It's basic admin, isn't it, like renewing your tv licence or home insurance. An oridinary office admin person or PA could keep on top of it.
