Haven’t they effectively been doing charitable work in breach of the prohibition on the Nigeria tour? Some of it was to do with the Archewell partnership with GEANCO. And I wonder if funds have been received or distributed over the period since 3May.

They have made promises/announcment but I don’t think they’ve given any money,as such. I don’t know though, but they were in Nigeria making big promises from a delinquent charity.

i just can’t get my head round why they have let it get to this stage, it’s not like they just forgot. It’s a deliberate action. With awful publicity associated with it. It makes them look either incompetent or a pair of grifters.

apparently they are refusing to comment.

Vespanest · 13/05/2024 21:52

Archewell are not getting much change from half a million dollars just for the top three staff. Even paying out bonuses. There really is no excuse

For an event that was supposed to be about Invictus, there was a whole lot of Meghan princessing and Netflix poloing going on. Anyone know if the official Invictus SM have said anything yet?

Invictus posted a short statement about the Nigeria visit on the news section of their website earlier today.

They are very selective about when they issue statements. If they look good - yes , if they look bad - silence .
African Parks ?

Silence is complicity unless it’s the Sussexes doing it.

Haven’t had much time, but just wanted to say that I think your posts have been great today @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 13/05/2024 22:22

It does seem like this year is when all their chickens come home to roost. They are shut out of both their families. Their business ventures are damp squibs and their faux royal tour was a classless disaster (don’t try to persuade me otherwise).

And somehow they chose to spend US Mother’s Day away from their kids. Someone with more time than me should add up just how little time these pair spend with their children.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 13/05/2024 22:23

Oh, that’s really kind of you to say that @MummyJ12 ! And you flatter me too much, there are loads of brilliant posters on these threads, including your good self. The bar is set high, I’m just trying to keep up with everyone else.

StartupRepair · 13/05/2024 22:26

The whole purpose of the Nigeria trip, imo, was to generate media saying 'the royal family lost a huge asset'. They will now wait for a begging call from Charles.
I had hoped that Kate would knock them off the front pages by bravely emerging to visit a charity this week.

There are many who would disagree with you on the tour to Nigeria. But even if we were to disbelieve our own senses and agree with their assessment that it was a success, their ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with this charity filing issue is second to none. The news cycle will completely switch now. Back to looking like losers.

Babybreath · 13/05/2024 22:35

Looks like they are not just a little bit late with the charity filling

Especially if they get audited .

MrsFinkelstein · 13/05/2024 23:11

I've now seen this floating around on TwiX and Reddit for the last few hours.

Take with a huge pinch of salt.

It could just be riffing off the issues that came up around the Fiji tour, but the comment about the rush job organising it does chime, as does the need to pre-empt William. Happened with Earthshot in Singapore last year too.

It must be so stressful and horrible for Harry’s family to know that anything they do will be undermined by this frankly deranged pair of fools. Charles and William will be worried about the damage Harry is doing to the reputation of the RF simply by using his titles and association to ‘represent’ them in some way.

Harry and Meghans jealousy, bitterness and spite is a thing to behold.

Here in the US, most of my friends and co-workers are oblivious to Harry & Meghan. If you look at the comments on Page 6 & the NY Post, they are almost entirely pro-RF. Everyone has one set of in-laws that they want to go away for good so people just feel bad for the RF.

This wouldn’t surprise me. However, there is a question, which springs to mind. If H&M have been that much of a nightmare, why in earth would she have been made a princess in her own right by the tribal Kings? I know it hasn’t been discussed on this thread. But it has on another. As far as I’m aware that makes her Princess Meghan of Nigeria.

BemusedAmerican · 14/05/2024 04:02

They may be planning to set up a rival court in Nigeria in the hopes of taking over the Commonwealth.
Meghan's marriage to Harry provided the initial legitimacy to her claim.

I am thinking of Henry I, who crowned himself king of England despite his older brother Robert of Normandy, then married the grandniece of Edward the Confessor so that his children would have a connection to the old Saxon line and rule through blood as well as right of conquest.

I think that's a bit ambitious. None of their projects seem to come to fruition 😟

StartupRepair · 14/05/2024 04:54

It is quite a gap between making jam in a ballgown and taking over a literal empire. Very Disney.

JJathome · 14/05/2024 06:05

I find the Nigeria tour optics odd. It was supposed to be about invictus, and I would hazard a guess it’s been mainly charged to the charity, and Harry clearly started off with good intentions, but it evolved into all about Megan, she was proper self grandiosing. Telling them all (literally she actually said it) she was beautiful, a role model, a leader, really nothing about invictus at all.

i am struggling to think of any other region they’d get away with this, certainly not in Europe or the US, I’m not sure anyone would have really heard of them in Asia or care.

there is no doubt she simply used the invictus platform to self promote, and she quite frankly looked like she was loving the attention they drummed up for her, it was heavily controlled in terms of the audience to avoid anything negative. Very contrived .

it is just a very odd situation, that invictus directors or trustees are unable to stop Megan using the platform to self promote, and allow her to detract from the games themselves. And pay the bill at the end of the day, taking the money from the veterans themselves.

it is highly distasteful. Archewell is sitting in delinquency, banned from undertaking charitable work, and Megan is in Nigeria telling local people how beautiful she is , being made a princess, calling it the motherland, all under the banner and dollar of invictus,

Lifesabeachbaby · 14/05/2024 06:54

I wonder how Harry feels about the whole thing being about Meghan? Does he ever pause to reflect ?

I think he bathes in the glorious adulation that surrounds her, feeling very smug!

I didn’t think he looked at ease towards the end of the ‘tour’, whereas she definitely did look very smug. She just seems to manipulate every situation to her own advantage wherever she goes, and no one challenges her. It’s extraordinary.
