Can this be true? That Harry and Meghan are off on a “royal” trip to Nigeria? What’s the game now? My head is spinning!

They really really want to be working royals. It’s bloody odd.

Yes, now they've found their crap at real work, they want pomp and ceremony again... I bloody hope the British tax payers aren't footing the security bloody bill here!!

Runnerinthenight · 28/04/2024 21:53

They are off their rockers!

BemusedAmerican · 28/04/2024 22:19

I am envisioning a Netflix person who has risked their life in hazardous conditions in Nigeria, getting really annoyed with Harry and Meghan and making sure some footage mysteriously gets out.

She may be visiting markets and cooking in homes for the food angle for Netflix.

It’s possible that Netflix will be filming/contributing to security costs.

If so, that would come out of production costs, so ultimately it would be charged to 'Archewell Productions'.

I don't see this trip as having to do with Netflix however. The insurance costs would be too high for them to send a crew to a country with a poor safety rating from the State Department.

As someone said above, they seem desperate to be 'royal' again.

Nigeria😳
Make it make sense!

I'm now questioning what his RAVEC court case is really about because it really can't be about his safety in the U.K.

I think it's about his status, not his security.
He wants the same level as William.

BemusedAmerican · 28/04/2024 22:27

I just reread that travel advisory. A good chunk of the country is level 4 - do not visit.

Supposedly Nigeria wants to host Invictus.
Why would you hold the Invictus Games in a level 3 and level 4 country? Why force the participants to undergo such danger and stress? Are they so oblivious to the safety and well-being of other people?

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 28/04/2024 21:20

Maybe they'll do a "Who do you think you are" type programme, isn't she supposed to have a certain percentage of Nigerian DNA?

43%, she claims.

thenightsky · 28/04/2024 22:30

Meghan has Nigerian heritage, so I guess that's why they are so keen.

IsoldeWagner · 28/04/2024 22:31

Well, it appears to be more safe than St Paul's Cathedral, if Harry's security claims in the UK are anything to go by.

Almost certainly an exaggeration.

And what's 'Nigerian' DNA? The nation state of Nigeria is a modern entity, and people of many different ethnic groups live there. 'Nigerian' is not an ethnicity.

No, that's the problem with these "DNA" kits. There is no such thing as Nigerian DNA, it's such a strange claim, as you say, they're modern man made borders and nations.

They have probably been invited by a member of the Nigerian royal family, who is trying to unlock his multi-million inheritance and is willing to share it with them if they can help him out with a loan in the meantime.

😂😂😂

Thedom · 28/04/2024 22:46

They are total effing twats.

One of the most corrupt countries in the world, where the disparity between the rich and the poor is absolutely off the scale, where violent crime is as common as blowing you nose., and she thought a market in Fiji was unsafe.

Plenty of column inches from that trip, hopefully everyone makes it safely to and from the airport.

Yeah, but think of the publicity and the outfits.

Thedom · 28/04/2024 22:51

and a nice diversion from the Jamjar rollout.

BemusedAmerican · 28/04/2024 22:54

Charles should issue a statement that Harry is not representing the UK and that any ransom must be paid out of Harry's personal funds and not by the UK taxpayers.

The US travel advisory actually tell you to have plans ready for getting out of the country without government help and how to prepare for being kidnapped and held for ransom.

IcedPurple · 28/04/2024 22:58

IsoldeWagner · 28/04/2024 22:48

Yeah, but think of the publicity and the outfits.

She will look very crass if she insists on wearing expensive clothes in a very poor country.

And if this is about Invictus, why is she going? She has no role in Invictus. Most parents I know are reluctant to leave small children even for a few days, let alone fly off to the other side of the world without them. What about their 'security needs'?

BemusedAmerican · 28/04/2024 23:19

People in SM are predicting a fake kidnapping. Charles should either make it clear that he won't pay a ransom or will only do so with Highgrove jam (delicious and excellent resale value). Excellent opportunity to unload the Transylvania honey.

Because they don't seem to be able to do anything singly. They always have to be holding hands like teenagers

FlatWhiteLover · 28/04/2024 23:30

Meghan probably wants to recreate Diana's visit to the land mines in Africa (the country escapes me).

GrazingSheep · 28/04/2024 23:31

Angola.

ArcaneWireless · 28/04/2024 23:40

I can’t help but think that not only is a trip there ill-advised (given the travel advisory mentioned) but it is also unwise to announce their plans to visit.

It wouldn’t surprise me, after all the fake car chase didn’t deliver the intended results.
