It seems to have gone the same way as their Sussex Royal site. I don't know much about social media or PR, but this all seems pretty odd and ineffectual.

Edward and Sophie were married at St George's, weren't they? So it's not as if there wasn't precedent.

Sophie wasn't divorced, though.

I'd KILL to get into the royal archives and have a good truffle around.

Theraininspainfalls · 07/04/2024 20:35

Meghan seems to feel the wedding they did have was foisted on her and wasn’t her real wedding anyway. So a bigger wedding wouldn’t have made her any happier.

MaisieMacabe · 07/04/2024 20:38

Yeh, it was for the plebs

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 07/04/2024 20:48

That’s a good one @Theraininspainfalls

I wonder how insiders might respond to that claim (if they could).

I think the reason why they catch so much flak is because they were given everything- wedding house, money, clothes, fame, fortune and adulation. And they still complained relentlessly.

Not only that. There is never one iota of graciousness or recognition of their uniquely privileged position. It is so crass.

It really is quite staggering how little gratitude they express for anything in their lives. Their level of entitlement is breathtaking.

I'm quite surprised no-one's commented on the SoHo House puff in the video.

Wasn't the closely involved Markus Anderson a close friend of the duchess and the one who set them up initially?

And isn't the whole thing now apparently on a tits up trajectory?

I’d be no use as a royal bride. I’d not be wanting to go out if I were in the palaces and castles.

I’d be nosing round everything. All that history for the hoovering.

Fabulous.

I am definitely not a supporter of H&M, but I do recall their wedding as being very positive. I thought how utterly lovely it was of Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle, and how kind he was to Doria. I recall how pleased lots of us were for Harry.

I didn't like Meghan from the start - she looked an utter 'unroyal' mess at their engagement announcement, never mind all the arrogant 'boots on the ground' shite in the interview, but as a long time Royal watcher I hoped Harry would be happy. I can't get over how much good will they have squandered. Meghan was promoted to us as an intelligent woman - I thought she would get stuck in to reading up about British history and customs (rather than just surfing the DM website looking for comments about herself). I thought how wonderful it would be to have access to so many people and places (afterhours tour of The Tower etc) to learn about the significance of the role she was taking on and general information about history and culture. I can't believe she seemed to have no interest in any of that stuff. What a wasted opportunity.

Yes I think it’s sad as I really don’t think harry fully realised he was marrying someone who really was just interested in american fame and fortune, being an a lister and hanging with them. A wannabe. She was always leaving once she got the title. She was never staying in.

Same!

And imagine having as your guide HM the Queen herself!

I guess you just have to look at Meghan's bland, soulless Montecito McMansion to realise that all that history was wasted on her. So 4 years on, here we are at American Riviera Orchard.

StickyWickets · 07/04/2024 21:38

But i doubt our ginger whinger has any interest in the history either. In many respects, they are perfectly suited. If you didn't appreciate what you had to begin with, you'll never appreciate what you've lost

I get the feeling that most of us posting on this thread feel the same. It's not about forelock tugging and genuflecting to the RF, but about having an appreciation for its rich history and the way it has shaped us. Not something to be thrown away lightly because two unappreciative, short-sighted dullards couldn't see anything beyond their own entitlement and ambition.

Not to Brits

But "American Riviera" is a 2-part place name, that would be seen as one name.

So it's like Tunbridge Wells Leisuredrome or Leamington Spa Gardens or Waltham Forest Parade. They're all 3 words but Brits just hear 2 units of meaning (hope that's clear!)

Yes that’s a good point. Though I think there is also a syllable issue too: 3 or 4 in the British equivalents versus a whopping 8 in American Riviera !

I suspect William saw through her early on and Harry was enraged.

Because she didn't have ultimate control over every aspect?! ... until she lied about it!!! ... and got found out 🤔

Indeed, both stupid and very very shallow

5YearsLeft · 08/04/2024 00:48

They really fucked up the trademarks. They only put them in on March 9, 2024 which indicates they can’t have put much thought into this or they thought the process was much faster - it currently takes 14 months to get a trademark registered in the US (doing it for my work). So for the next month, until the website is up, you can go ahead and use the same name for anything you want and their case is pretty shaky. Once the website is up, they have a slightly stronger case that they’re currently using it, but everything they make will still have to say “TM pending” for a year probably. So…. Make your American Riviera Orchard dildos now.

This is the page from the trademark office. If you open the goods and services section, you can see everything they’ve trademarked to make (you have to specify categories you want to trademark in):
https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98441826&caseSearchType=USAPPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch

(Apologies if someone already shared this).

I’m looking forward to buying my American riviera orchard string bag for shopping.

Ellmau · 08/04/2024 07:26

That's quite a range of goods.

Mylovelygreendress · 07/04/2024 20:21

If reports are correct the late Queen thought they should have a quiet wedding as Meghan was a divorcee . Also she was - apparently- unimpressed that Meghan wore a veil .

And the brightest white dress that any royal bride has ever been seen in!

FloofCloud · 08/04/2024 07:38

Sounds like an online B&M

Hence, the more astute members of the RF understanding the value of 'never complain and never explain'. They know very well how galling it is to ordinary folk to have to listen to multi-millionaires who live in palaces and have staff and couture clothes and never have to suffer an airport lounge whinge about a bigger bedside lamp or an extra sausage at breakfast. But you need a degree of self-awareness to fully appreciate that - something that the Montecito Moaners are noticeably lacking.

LadyWhineglass · 07/04/2024 20:02

Yes. Google it.

So rude. I had Googled it, it applies to an area around Santa Barbara. But it isn't an actual place name.
