It seems to have gone the same way as their Sussex Royal site. I don't know much about social media or PR, but this all seems pretty odd and ineffectual.

Moir, Platell and Vine are just Daily Mail hacks paid to slag off the Sussexes.

I don't think anyone here would deny that, would they?

Jan Moor wrote a piece about ARO today in the DM ( I know, I know!) and the site is to be launched next month apparently.

Why does everyone feel they have to apologise for reading the DM? Jan Moir is a brilliant writer. Read what you want, not what Mumsnet thinks is acceptable.

Completely agree and I will be buying my copy today .

Whereas Omid Scobie and Chris Ship are highly respected journalists I suppose ???

Don't know who Chris Ship is but Scobie is in the same category as the DM hacks. No integrity, just goes after whoever his paymasters tell him to.

Vine was apologising for her remarks about Kate the other week. Hypocrite. It reminded me of how the DM were savaging Princess Diana right up until her death. Then they changed their tune and deified her.

It does seem a bit rich for posters on this site to continue to point the finger at the Daily Mail after all the nasty rumours, speculation & untruths that have flooded the Mumsnet RF boards over the past few weeks.

Talk about pot/kettle.

Our press should be held to a higher journalistic standard than a parenting website.

I honestly don't know why MM doesn't drop the royal title and revert back to being Meghan Markle. It would give her more credibility and give the haters less ammunition.

Being the DoS isn't doing her any favours now. She should go forward as Meg of the Tig or something.

Tenmus · 30/03/2024 12:24

I honestly don't know why... they have done so many things!

They have every opportunity life could reasonably afford them and then thrown it all away. They could have been high profile working royals with all the fame and attention they could wish for. They could have been non-working royals and enjoyed an immensely privileged and private lifestyle. Their children could have grown up surrounded by an extended, fun and loving family, and plenty of cousins their own ages. They could probably have pursued any hobbies, vocations, studies or philanthropic pursuits their hearts desired.
I just don't get how they can make so many missteps to have ended up with such a bitter, isolated existence. I truly hope that they are happier then they come across.

I wonder what Meg's candles will smell of? 🤔

Bullshit?

queenofarles · 30/03/2024 13:08

It’s still very early to judge , I still think they are on to something good .

I just think < and that’s my personal observation> what they have in mind is more suited for the U.K.

They want heritage and tradition in their brand , I think it’s something Charles would have been very supportive of , if they remained.

It's not 'their brand' though. It's hers.

Do people really associate Meghan with'heritage and tradition'?

And the messaging seems confused, as she's using her British courtesy titles for a brand that's supposedly all about the 'American riviera'. And the orchard too.

GoonieGang · 30/03/2024 13:24

I hope it doesn’t fail and they make enough money so they can willingly drop the Sussex title.
For a couple who have openly savaged the RF I honestly don’t know why they want to keep the connection to a family they seem to despise.

Vespanest · 30/03/2024 13:41

I want this to succeed, it will be better for everyone concerned, anyone who tells me Harry is living his best life has to be kidding, if they can become successful they can move on, maybe then the risk of further disclosure will cease, as both side would have something to lose and Harry can have some form reconciliation.

If H and M divorce ( and I hope they don’t as they have young children) it will be interesting to see if she retains her title like Sarah who is much criticised on MN for doing so .

They're never going to drop the titles!
Why do you think the kids are prince and princess?! That's their USP.

Bit weird. I hate that "calligraphy" it looks so amateur. Maybe the idea is to make it look a bit homemade. It's jam and cosmetics as far as I know.

I think it's weird but I don't think there is anything wrong with the calligraphy. It looks like calligraphy 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well it looks like an odd style to me, it's not that elegant calligraphy, but I thought the idea was to make it look a bit home made.

American riveria orchard sounds like a what 3 words reference.

So now I am gonna check if it's on there

OMG what if it's a bin depot in Luton?

Viviennemary · 30/03/2024 14:22

American Riviera Orchard. Wtf?? American is ok. Riviera? Isn't that in Europe. Orchard for growing apples. Bit of a weird name.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 30/03/2024 14:30

I assumed they were ready to go, then as the “missing princess” rumours got going, and it became clear to anyone sane that while the idea she’d gone missing /left him was nonsense, the rumours that Catherine was a lot more sick than KP was suggesting was probably true. So they parked it to avoid launching the same day a terrible announcement came from the palace.

Leaving it another month to announce whatever Meghan is up to seems sensible. (I assumed the calligraphy style was to look like she’d done it, referencing back to that she used to do calligraphy writing for extra cash when first acting)

FloofCloud · 30/03/2024 14:52

IcedPurple · 29/03/2024 13:59

They are both very big on the flashy announcements. Less so on the follow through. I doubt this will be any different.

The 'celebrity lifestyle' market is saturated. Gisele has just released a cookbook, to give the latest example. So ARO will be entering a very competitive market. What is its UPS? What is the 'angle'? There wasn't much to go on from the video and empty website, but she seems to be aiming for the 'upmarket California lifestyle'. I'm not sure she has the right persona for that however. Besides, hasn't Goop got it covered?

My suspicions are that she's done all that she's going to do, the rest will be experts choosing goods and minions sending packages and collecting the money - they both seem completely full on for 5 minutes, then vacant like you say

No , but I get the feeling that’s the direction of their brand.

Riviera and specially An American one is something no one is familiar with , we know Napa Valley , Sonoma Valley , Sacramento .

the concept is there , the name is just a bit throwing the whole thing off.

The thing is, she doesn't have a good track record for listening to the experts either.

And if this venture is going to make money, she'll need to get out there and promote it. Something for which again, she doesn't have a good track record. It's a highly competitive marketplace and the world isn't waiting for another 'celebrity' peddling crockery or jams with a massive mark up.
