It seems to have gone the same way as their Sussex Royal site. I don't know much about social media or PR, but this all seems pretty odd and ineffectual.

Honestly, it just shows what jerks they were/are. Fifth or Sixth in line to the throne is not nothing. It’s an incredible position - so much status but also freedom. They are just so selfish and egotistical that wasn’t enough for them, basically. And now they are basically deadbeats in Monteshitshow, selling pots and pans. You’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh.

I agree.

They are/were eaten up with jealousy of Kate and William, but I reckon they actually had the better deal. Most of the perks for a lot less responsibility. Put it this way, when they decided to find freedom, it was a big gossipy story but ultimately didn't matter. By contrast, if Kate and William wanted to do the same, it would be a major constitutional crisis.

If they'd just been prepared to walk behind the Waleses, visit a community centre in Grimsby every so often and rise above the goady tabloids, they would have been onto a winner. Now, as you say, they don't seem to have a clue what they're about.

Indeed - it overcame a tantrum and a flounce by an actual King, not that long ago! In quite similar circs.

And Harry's beloved Great Grandmother never forgave them. And never let them back in again.

She held them responsible for the King's premature death. She believed the strain of being king during the war years caused his health problems.

Though there is absolutely no doubt we were much better off with George VI than we would have been with Edward VIII.

Harry is going to look like Henry viii shortly.

When Katherine Parr got him.

🤣🤣🤣

Salemforcuddles · 07/04/2024 17:11

I wonder if they signed a pre nup

JSMill · 07/04/2024 17:12

I used to have a Catherine Parr doll when I was young. She had a pretty green dress. My aunt, who lived in NYC, brought me one from FAO Schwartz every time she visited. I hinted heavily for the one of Princess Diana in her wedding dress but never got it 😕.

Oh, I'm sure she didn't want to blame his smoking!

My point was, Prince Harry wangs on in his book about a single time that he felt he and the QM bonded. And yet he'll never have enough insight to see that she coldly held a grudge against a man very similar to him, and made sure he was forever banished from the RF.

No such legal thing in the UK.

Very similar? Ok, Harry is a bit right wing and intolerant, and he once dressed as a Nazi, but I don't think he would have befriended Hitler. Although who knows.

That's true. Similar to that fool Edward VIII then. Betray his country....

I’d much rather have been in Edward and Sophie’s/Meghan & Harry’s or Princess Anne’s rather than William & Kate’s. Perks and privileges without as much responsibility.

RandomQues · 07/04/2024 17:29

She’s just an arrogant, entitled Los Angeles wannabe truth be told? I met one travelling. There’s hundreds of them, I suspect, maybe thousands ? She just had the added good looks and private school, college arrogance/ privilege $$$ provided by her father.

Oh - I dunno - I think he possibly would, if he could have stood front and centre with him at the rallies. and merch a bit of Hugo Boss.

I don't think he's aware enough to realise the implications of being abuse-adjacent. Neither of them seem to see any further than their own "needs".

I'd prefer to even be Zara Tindall or Beatrice Mapelli Mozzi.

They get to attend the family events and have all the perks of royal adjacency. They can do pretty much what they want in life without having people complaining that 'we are paying for you'! Although I'm sure some still do.

Or she thought the heavy smoking was a consequence of the stress and anxiety of the War.

It was the smoking but I imagine the stress of the war years didn't help his health. IIRC both George V and the Duke of Windsor died from smoking related cancers and Edward VII from acute bronchitis and complications, also due to smoking.

He'd been a heavy smoker long before he married her.

Edit for autocarrot

Geebray · 07/04/2024 17:41

To be fair, I guess smoking wasn't as well known about then. But she sure kept her grudge for the rest of her life.

If H&M think the RF don't hold a grudge, they've got another think coming! Just ask them about the Duke of Edinburgh and Fergie.

The impact of smoking wasn't widely accepted until the late 1960s. Cigarettes were given in Red Cross parcels.
Was Philip's attitude to Fergie a grudge? Or was he just pissed off at her behaviour?

Salemforcuddles · 07/04/2024 17:44

@smilesy yes 😄

LipstickLil · 07/04/2024 17:50

I think he felt she was a disgrace to the RF after the whole 'toe sucking' scandal. She was indiscreet and that was not tolerated!
